mag77 405 Posted June 27, 2017 Wow, I’m surprised that no one has summed this up yet, but I’ll try, so yeah spoilers for Attack on Titan season 1: We get a little prologue explaining that Titans, giant humanoid creatures, appeared 100 years ago, and that they nearly wiped out humanity. The rest of the humans somehow built three massive sets of 50-meter-tall walls (Wall Sina being the innermost wall, then Wall Rose, and then Wall Maria being the outermost) encircling some land, and they lived behind them ever since, since its nearly impossible to kill Titans and the Titans can’t breach the walls. Then it starts off with the main protagonist, Eren, waking up from a nightmare that may be foreshadowing future events. His adopted sister, Mikasa, sees that he was crying from it, but Eren has no recollection as to why. They both shrug it off and head back to town (I know the name, but I have no idea how to spell it), as they were collecting firewood. Eren gets into an argument with Hannes, a Wall Garrison soldier, and we find out that not only does Eren have a very short temper and is a loud mouth, but that he dreams of joining the Survey Corps to explore beyond the walls. As we find this out, said Survey Corps return from a recent scouting mission. As Eren looks at them in awe, the other civilians mutter to themselves about how there are far fewer SC soldiers that made it back, and the ones that returned are all either injured, mentally scarred, or both. We then find out that not only is it extremely dangerous because of the Titans, but that the SC have made no progress in finding out what is beyond the walls, or if there are any other humans living outside. Eren is undeterred by this, and is still determined to join the SC, which prompts Mikasa to tell their parents. Their mother is horrified, of course, and yells at Eren, while their father seems intrigued and shows Eren the basement key, saying that he’ll show him what’s inside the basement when he returns from seeing a patient outside of town, since he’s a doctor. Eren then leaves to go find his best friend, Armin, and Mikasa follows behind him dutifully. They find Armin being bullied, and the two chase the bullies away. Eren tells Armin that he needs to stand up for himself, but Armin refuses, since he doesn’t want to hurt others. We then see that Armin inspired Eren’s dream of seeing the outside world with a book that Armin’s grandfather gave him. The book explains things that are beyond the wall, such as volcanoes and deserts, and Armin states his dream is that he wants to see the ocean. As the three kids talk a bit more, there is a sudden flash of lightning and they, as well as everyone else, looks up in horrified awe as they see a 60-meter-tall Titan. There has never been a Titan this tall before, and everyone panics as it kicks down the gate leading outside, which leaves a horde of other Titans entering. We see some people getting eaten as Eren and Mikasa hurry home to see if their mother is okay. She is underneath the rubble of their destroyed house, and she urges the two to escape since she can’t as her legs are broken. Hannes shows up then and is about to help the kids by killing an approaching Titan, but he panics at the last moment and instead follows what the mother wanted. As Hannes is carrying the kids off to safety, the Titan eats the mother, enraging Eren. We then find out that Wall Maria has been breached by a Titan with armor-like plates, and everyone living in its borders flees to Wall Rose. However, about half of the people (200,000) are killed in the process. Eren, Armin, and Mikasa, however, are among the survivors, and the next day, Eren vows to join the Survey Corps and destroy every single Titan, while he somehow got the basement key his father had, but he does not remember how that happened. A year passes and Eren, Armin, and Mikasa have joined the Training Squad in Trost in order to join the SC, since they are now thirteen years old. We find out that they’ll be training for three years, as well as about the three military groups: the Wall Garrison, the group that has the most soldiers as they guard the walls and don’t venture out beyond; the Military Police, the group that most soldiers want to join, but only the top ten training cadets in each training squad can join; and the Survey Corps, which we already know about. We are also introduced to more important characters: Connie, a country bumpkin that everyone underestimates and one of the comic-relief characters; Sasha, the other comic-relief character that is obsessed with food; Jean, an arrogant city-boy who wants to join the Military Police so he’ll be in the innermost wall with the wealthy and be relatively safe, and ends up as Eren’s rival; Bertholdt, a tall, shy, quiet youth who’s very close to Reiner; Reiner, a muscular youth who everyone trusts completely; Christa, a kind, beautiful girl that all the guys think is a goddess and want to marry; Ymir, a sarcastic youth who is only friends with and cares for Christa; and Annie, the mysterious lone wolf. We see everyone training with the 3DManouver Gear, specialized gear that is needed in order to kill Titans, and that Eren almost fails, but of course he passes in the end. He actually makes it into the top ten, along with Mikasa, Reiner, Bertholdt, Annie, Jean, Connie, Sasha, and Christa in that order. As the graduation party goes on, everyone is shocked that Eren wants to join the SC, but he actually manages to convince some others to want to join the SC. Jean, however, calls him a suicidal idiot, and Eren storms off. Armin and Mikasa follow, and the three talk again about their dreams (well Eren and Armin’s dreams, as Mikasa doesn’t have any except to protect Eren). The next day, Eren is assigned to watch the wall, and he and some other trainees are actually happy as they joke around a bit. However, the Colossal Titan appears again, and kicks down the gate leading into Trost, and it seems that history is gonna repeat itself. Eren and some of the others try to get the Colossal, but it vanishes. Then, he and the others are assigned into various groups to stall and kill the Titans as the citizens escape. Eren and Armin are assigned to the same group, but Mikasa is assigned to another and wants to be with Eren, but he tells her to stop being emotional, and leaves with Armin and his other teammates. His group is just as excited as he is about killing some Titans, and they all make a game with it, seeing who can kill the most. However, everything goes horribly wrong as an Abnormal Titan strikes from nowhere and kill one of them. Everyone is frozen in shock, until an enraged Eren goes to blindly attack it, when another Titan bites off Eren’s leg. As he’s lying on a roof injured, the rest of his team is killed by Titans, except for Armin, who’s still frozen in terror. As a Titan goes in about to eat Armin, Eren jumps in and is eaten instead. We then jump to Mikasa, who killing Titans as the rest of the civilians escape. Feeling that something is wrong, she rushes to the others to see what’s wrong, only to see Armin, as well as the other important characters, above on some rooftops away from the Titans. They explain to her that they are all almost out of gas, which powers the 3D gear, and that the storage shed is being invaded by Titans and that they can’t get near it. Without the gas, everyone’s trapped on the roofs. As everyone else wonders how to escape, Mikasa notices that Eren isn’t there, so she asks Armin what happened. He tells her, and she is devastated before growing stoic. She tells everyone that she’ll kill the Titans surrounding the storage shed, and rushes off, with the others hesitating before following her. She slaughters a few Titans before running out of gas herself, and crashes on the ground. As two Titans approach her, she almost gives up, before remembering how she first met Eren. When they were ten, Mikasa was living with her real family in the mountains. Her parents were good friends with Eren’s father, and he was to visit them. As they are waiting for him, thieves break in and kill Mikasa’s parents and kidnap her. As they take her to their hideout, Eren and his father finally reach her house and discover what happened. As Eren’s father waits for the Military Police to arrive, Eren sneaks off and finds the hideout. He breaks in and kills most of the thieves, before the last one grabs him and is about to strangle him. Mikasa is still frozen in shock with everything that has happened, and Eren tells her that if she doesn’t fight, they’re both gonna die. Something inside her snaps, and she kill the last thief. Eren’s father and the police then arrive, and he berates Eren for his recklessness before commending him on his bravery. They both then offer Mikasa to live with them, and she tearfully, but gratefully accepts. Back to the present, she regains her will to live and is about to attack one of the Titans, before the other one kills that Titan. Mikasa is sits there stunned before Armin and Connie come in and save her. The three wonder what is up with that Titan, as Titans have never attacked one another before. Armin then gets an idea to lead that Titan to the storage shed and have it kill the Titans there, and that is what they do. As that Titan kills off the other Titans, everyone makes it inside, but they find out that some Titans are already inside and are of course where the gas is being stored. Armin has another idea that the seven best go in and kill the seven Titans inside while the rest go in there on the elevator and distract the Titans by shooting them with rifles. Mikasa, Jean, Reiner, Bertholtd, Annie, Connie, and Sasha are the ones chosen to kill, and they do except for Connie and Sasha who miss. However, Mikasa and Annie jump in and kill the Titans the two missed. Now that everyone is filled up, they all head up to return up the wall, but Mikasa, Jean, Reiner, Bertholtd, and Annie stay behind to see the unusual Titan passing out from exhaustion after killing the last Titans around. Mist engulfs that Titan, and they all see an unconscious Eren emerge from its neck. Mikasa is surprised, but heads down to hug him and cry with happiness. We then see a little flashback as to how Eren survived and transformed into a Titan. Then, as Eren wakes up, we see him, Armin, and Mikasa surrounded by Wall Garrison Soldiers, who are all terrified. Eren wonders what is going on, when the Captain tells him to shut it and not move, or he’ll have the other soldiers kill him. Armin then tells Eren what happened, and he is surprised. He firmly tells the Captain that he is not a monster and is on the side of humanity. The Captain doesn’t believe him and has the soldiers shoot them. Eren instinctively bites his hand, and summons a skeletal Titan torso to protect him and his friends. He then asks Armin to see if he can convince the Captain since he’d be better at it, and at first Armin is hesitant, but agrees anyway. He tells the Captain and the other soldiers much of what Eren already said, but also adds that Eren could use his Titan powers to seal up the hole and save Wall Rose. The other soldiers seem to trust him, but the Captain refuses to listen and is about to order the shootout again, before being stopped by his superior that just showed up. That superior is Commander Pixis, and old gentleman who likes women and wine, and tells the Captain that he’s foolish for not seeing the pure loyalty and determination in Armin. Pixis then asks Armin about his plan, and he states that there is a boulder large enough to cover the hole, and that if Eren can transform again, he could lift it and place it in the hole saving everyone. Eren isn’t sure if he can transform, but he is determined to try. He, Mikasa, and a few skilled soldiers make it to where the boulder is, as the other soldiers distract the Titans. Eren is able to transform, but he loses his sense of self before attacking Mikasa, who dodges, and then himself, knocking himself out. Mikasa tries to wake him up as the other soldiers with her think that this was all a failure, but still keep the Titans at bay. Armin then notices what happened, and goes up to Eren. He not only manages to wake Eren, but also make him aware again. Eren, still in his Titan form, then gets the bolder and seals up the hole, with Armin and Mikasa following behind. Eren’s Titan then collapses, but he emerges conscious this time. However, a Titan approaches them, and Eren, Armin, and Mikasa have no way to kill it. Just then, a mysterious soldier appears from nowhere and kills the Titain before turning to look at the three. Holy cow was that long, but that was the first half of the first season summarized! Anyway, sorry if my summary isn’t the best; I’m not that good with explaining things. I may also be wrong with some of the names and terminology. I’ll have the second half up tomorrow (if you want it), but I hope this helps, and if you found a summary somewhere else, then sorry for inconveniencing you. 2 KHUndertaleFan25 and Exiblade7 reacted to this

mag77 405 Posted June 28, 2017 Okay, so here is the summary for the second half of Attack on Titan season 1: We then jump back to the morning where the Colossal Titan attacked Trost, but before it did. We now see the mysterious soldier that saved Eren and co. His name is Levi, and he is the strongest soldier of humanity who is part of the Survey Corps. We find out that not only is he the stereotypical bad-ass, ‘I’m too cool for you’ lone wolf, but that he is also a neat freak. We are also introduced to Hanji, an eccentric scientist who is obsessed with anything Titan related. The two of them, along with the rest of the Survey Corps, go out on a mission to see if there is any way to restore Wall Maria, which explains why they weren’t there while Trost was being attacked. They fail their mission, of course, and return to when Eren just sealed up the hole in Wall Rose. Now, we’re back at the present, and Eren wakes up in an underground cell. Not only is Levi there, but also the leader of the Survey Corps, Erwin. Erwin tells Eren the situation; the reason why he’s in prison is because the king and the Military Police distrust Eren and want to kill him before he can turn against humanity. Eren says he would never do that, and Erwin believes him. Which is why Erwin tells him that he hopes to convince the general of all three military factions (I think his name is Darious, but I’m not sure) to let Eren join the Survey Corps during Eren’s trial the next day, but that Eren must behave himself. Eren readily agrees, since he wants to join the SC anyway, while Levi just states that if Eren ‘acts up,’ he’ll just ‘dispatch’ him right then and there. Erwin then asks Eren about the key around his neck, and he replies that it leads to his father’s basement. Eren continues to say that his father was going to reveal what was in there, and that it most likely had something to do with the secrets of where the Titans come from, and a spark of interest flashes in Erwin’s eyes before he and Levi leave without a word. The next day, Hanji and another SC soldier, Mitch, escort Eren to the trial room. They wish him luck before shoving him right in the middle of the room, where we see many wealthy citizens, Wall Priests, MP soldiers, Commander Pixis, and Armin and Mikasa there to watch or give out their witness accounts. The MP leader states that Eren is a menace to humanity, and that he should be killed so that the MP scientists can dissect him and see how he’s able to turn into a Titan. The wealthy agree, but the Wall Priests say that Eren should just be killed for being an abomination to God. Erwin is finally able to state his plan with Eren; he hopes that they can help him master his Titan powers so that he can seal up Wall Maria like he did with Wall Rose. Erwin also states that he thinks that Eren’s father had the secret about the Titans, and that secret is in Eren’s basement and that they have the key to it. However, the general still seems like he is going to side with the MP, so Eren boldly claims that he will fight for humanity no matter what, and that they all should put their hopes and dreams on him. Levi then proceeds to beat the living crap outta Eren before saying that if Eren does turn against humanity, he can easily kill him. The general then says that Erwin wins and that the SC can have Eren, but on one condition. In a month’s time, the SC must be able to reach Wall Maria, and Eren must be able to show some control in his abilities. If not, then Eren will be back on trial, and most likely sentenced to death. Erwin, Levi, Hanji, and Mitch take Eren back with them, and Hanji realizes that Eren has regenerative powers, since he has no injuries now from Levi. The next day, Eren is assigned to Levi’s squad, and he, Levi, and the other squad members go make base at an old abandoned castle. The only member from Levi’s squad I can remember is Petra, who is the only girl on the squad, as well as a huge Levi fan-girl. Another member also tries to impersonate Levi a lot, but I cannot remember his name. The other two are just generic loyal soldiers, so yeah. Anyway, while they are all cleaning the castle up, we jump back to the other trainees. We see that they have all changed from the Titan attack, particularly Jean, as his best friend, Marco, died during the attack. He vows to the others that he is going to join the SC, not because of revenge like Eren, not because of yearning to see beyond the walls like Armin, not because he believes that the best and strongest should be in the SC like Reiner, but so that he can try and make sure no one else has to die like the way Marco did. Despite his fear, the others are all impressed by Jean’s change of heart. Later that night, it’s time for all the trainees to choose which military branch they are going to join. Erwin gives out his speech to them, hoping that he can convince some to join the SC, but most of the trainees refuse. The ones that do stay to join are all the important characters listed in the first summary, except for Annie, who joins the MP. The following day, Eren sees all the trainees that joined the SC, and is happy that all his friends have joined, but is surprised to see that Jean joined. Jean tells Eren why, and Eren is saddened to hear that Marco died, but is also happy that Jean changed for the better. Jean then somewhat jokingly tells Eren not get them all killed, and Eren promises that he won’t, and the two’s rivalry seems to have ended, or at least it’s now a friendly one. A month passes, and we see the others training for the upcoming mission. Eren, meanwhile, tries to turn into a Titan again with Hanji, but he isn’t succeeding. One evening after failing, Eren’s hand is wrapped up in bandages, since his healing powers aren’t working either. While having dinner outside with his squad, Eren drops his spoon on the ground and goes to pick it up. However, his hand transforms, and the others, except for Levi and Hanji, freak out and threaten to kill Eren if he moves. Eren, of course, panics and promises he means no harm, and that he has no idea how his hand transformed. The others, barring Levi and Hanji, don’t believe Eren, and then Levi orders them to leave so Eren can calm down. Once he does, everyone returns to the castle, and the others apologize to Eren, hoping that after that little mishap Eren can bring himself to trust them. He agrees, and they leave, except for Hanji. Hanji then tells Eren about her hypothesis: she believes that not only must Eren draw his blood, but he must also have a specific goal in mind in order to transform. Eren agrees as he recalls the previous times he transformed, or semi-transformed. Impressed with Hanji, he asks her why she is so fascinated with everything Titan. She more than gladly tells him, as well as her latest experiment. Apparently, she and a few of the other SC soldiers captured two Titans during their last expedition. She tries to study multiple things about them, such as if they can communicate, feel pain, move during the night, and some other things. Her explanations take up the whole night, and the next morning, an SC soldier comes in and tells the two that the two Titans that were captured were killed. Hanji is devastated, since those Titans were vital to see if there was a way to stop the Titan crisis and thus save humanity. Erwin then approaches Eren and asks him something, but I can’t remember what. I think it had something to do with who to trust. Then all the soldiers in all three groups are taken in and interrogated. While they’re waiting, Armin, Connie, and Annie talk to one another. We find out that despite Annie’s cold exterior, she actually cares for the two’s safety, and wishes them luck in the SC. In the end, they weren’t able to find out who killed the two Titans, and now it’s time for the SC mission. Eren and Levi’s squad are put in the middle, while everyone else is spread out randomly in a formation that Erwin says is the safest and most successful way to travel. Eren wonders why he was put in the middle, where it’s the safest, and one of the squad members replies that they think that someone is after Eren. As the mission starts off, all is going well. There aren’t many Titans around, and the few that show up are easily killed. However, soon a strange, female looking Titan appears and is acting completely different from the other Titans. Whereas the other Titans eat humans, she does not and kills them in different ways. She also knows that she can be killed by being cut through the nape of the neck, so she constantly covers it, so no one can kill her. After barely surviving her attack, Armin tells Jean and Reiner that she must be like Eren, a human that can turn into a Titan. He also hypothesizes that she must be after Eren, as well as where Eren must be. The Female Titan attacks them again, and they again barely manage to survive, and she now heads towards where Eren is. Soon, she reaches Eren and Levi’s squad in a forest with giant trees. However, right before she can capture him, she herself is captured by Erwin and Hanji. Levi stays behind with them as he tells his squad to go deeper in the forest with Eren. Levi, Erwin, and Hanji then interrogate the Female Titan, as they have the same conclusion as Armin. However, the Female Titan instead summons other Titans to devour her. She thus escapes in her human form, but we still do not know who she is since she’s wearing a hood. She soon catches back up to Eren and co. and kills one of Levi’s squad members before transforming back into a Titan. Eren wants to transform as well so he can fight her, but Petra tells him to trust them. So, he obliges, and the remaining members fight her. It looks like they’re about to beat her, when she kills another member, and then Petra, and finally the last member. Eren is enraged, and finally transforms and fights her. But he also loses, and the Female Titan carries Eren’s unconscious human form in her mouth and runs off. Mikasa, sensing something was wrong, was following Levi’s squad and Eren, so she sees what happened. Now also angry, she chases the Female Titan in order to get Eren back. She is beating the Female Titan, but then she gets the upper hand and is about to kill Mikasa, when Levi jumps in and saves her. However, he gets injured, but they are both still able to defeat the Female Titan, though not kill or capture her, and instead rescue Eren. They and the remaining SC return to Wall Rose, and everyone’s either glum, injured, or both. Now we jump to Annie. She has just woken up from her bed, but it seems like she barely got any sleep. She still goes to her first day of MP duties, and she meets her MP teammates. They are all like how Jean was in the beginning, except for one (I can’t remember his name). He states that he wishes to uncorrupt the MP, and bring it to their glory days where they actually helped the citizens instead of gambling and taking bribes from the wealthy. Annie then states that all she wants to do is make sure regular people are protected and are not judged for being average. Later that day, she runs into Armin, Eren, and Mikasa. Armin explains to her that they are sneaking Eren away from his trial. She agrees to help them, but not before putting on a plain, iron ring. Soon, they reach an underground tunnel, and Annie refuses to follow them inside it. Eren tries to convince her, but she adamantly refuses. Armin then tells her of his suspicions that she is in fact the Female Titan. Annie just laughs and says that now the true game begins. But before she can transform, hidden SC soldiers jump on her and hold her back so she can’t bite herself. However, that ring she put on before has a hidden needle in it, and she uses it to transform. She kills all the soldiers that were holding her back, and then tries to capture Eren again. But he, Armin, and Mikasa are hidden in the tunnel, so Annie stomps holes in it so she can find Eren. Armin and Mikasa tell him that they’ll act as decoys so he can escape, but Eren refuses and instead transforms himself. They fight again, but this time Eren is winning. Annie realizes this, and so tries to escape. As she is climbing Wall Sina in order to escape, Mikasa catches her and defeats her. Annie’s human form emerges from her Titan’s neck, and she sheds a tear before encasing herself in crystal, and thus enters a crystalized sleep. Everyone is happy that they finally caught her, but they are also upset that not only did so many die in the process, but that they can’t break Annie’s crystal cocoon, and thus can’t interrogate her. Finally, the last scene of season 1 shows Armin, Mikasa, and Hanji seeing a hole that Annie’s Titan form created in Wall Sina, and that there is an unconscious Titan inside it. Well, I hope that my two summary parts were helpful, as I just recalled everything from memory, so I may be missing some things, or have miscalled other things. And I hope I didn’t seem too biased with some of the characters, since I don’t like Levi or his squad at all, while I really like Armin and Jean. 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
