If KH3 has any DLC how should it be handled?

Recommended Posts

At this point with all of the rumors spreading around i think KH3 is gaurenteed to have some sort of DLC or even a Final Mix after its release and to be perfectly honest i Won't mind if KH3 has any DLC. Now im hoping square handles DLC as fair as it can be (Square be Fair) so here's a couple ideas of how they could do it involving worlds.

1. Include some DLC worlds BUT make these worlds as filler and not as exciting as possible: I'm thinking if DLC is a thing we are gonna get some worlds but I'm hoping that these DLC worlds will be filler and not big properties to make it a little fair for the fans. Maybe kinda how CAPCOM did the DLC for Ace Attorney Duel Destines and Spirit of Justice but make the worlds a litte more filler like just for a couple examples a Brave or Emporers New Groove world as those movies are not extremely exciting compared to other movies.

2. Include DLC of worlds not exactly Disney such as Marvel and Star Wars: with all the complaints of Star Wars or marvel being in KH3 i feel like this would be the best way to do it as it will make these properties totally optional to the player and will most likely not be involved in the main story. Although personally if these properties ever get in KH i want them to be in the game and involved with the story but I'd rather have the majority of the fans be more happy rather than just myself so i think this DLC approach would be best.

What are your ideas of how DLC shoud be handled in KH3? Or are you against DLC overall?

If we're to have DLC, I'd want it to be Final Mix. It could include some more bosses, little extra challenges, a new battle or two, plus some extra cutscenes in the story (similar to roxas in KHIIFM, though I think this would be unpopular because it involves going back in the story) and definitely a different ending or something, or and extension to the current ending relating to the next saga.

Apart from that I wouldn't want DLC unless it was little extra cosmetic stuff. I think a Final Mix DLC would be suitable. It shouldn't be expensive, if costing anything at all, but I doubt that'll be the case.

If it happens than I want just some extra worlds  that are set before the ending of the game meaning something that dosent fill any gaps. I want a complete story when it comes out.

Only cosmetic things is how all DLCs should be handled something that is there but you dont need necessarily. Than again considering that the kingdom hearts games all were released on different consoles I Imagine terrible possibilities

Definetly not in any way that pertains to story because there should be no excuse to have the base game not have the completed narrative that we've been waiting on for the past 10+ years. The only exception I could think of would be putting in extra "episodes" for worlds like in KH2 because at least then, they would be treated more as optional fluff rather than integral story plot purposefully being left out.

As for anything else: extra costumes, Keyblades, music tracks, etc. is completely fine in my book, but I'd rather they be sold in separate packs rather than go a Season Pass route even though it's becoming a very definite standard for paid DLC because it could bring up a whole lot of other potential issues that I don't even want to go into right now.

Honestly, the problem with worlds being DLC is that, in my case, I would feel compelled to play through the worlds, since I just wouldn't feel right if I didn't play through them, ya know? Worlds, be they important or not, are a part of the story, ya know? I wouldn't like for Emperor's New Groove to be a DLC world, since I'd like it to actually be a part of the main story, ya know?

In my opinion, I think that DLC for Kingdom Hearts III would probably be stuff we'd consider Final Mix content, such as extra secret bosses, a new location like the Cavern Of Remembrance in Radiant Garden, new enemy variations, some extra Keyblades, staffs and shields, and other such things. But to add worlds as DLC for me would really just feel weird.

Honestly, I prefer the game to be as complete as possible without having to add in stuff digitally, but if DLC is indeed a thing for this game, then I'll certainly end up buying it, ya know?

I just know what I don't want for DLCs: story relevant content. We all know there will be cut content and I certainly don't mind if they decide to put that in later because usually, that content is not absolutely vital to the plot. Even optional bosses would be fine. Just not this whole adding half of the game later stuff FFXV is currently pulling off.

I have a lot of respect for game developers and I know DLCs are quick and easy money, but if a game isn't complete in terms of story, then that's absolutely terrible and not acceptable. There can always be scenes added later like in the Final Mix games but it should only add to known elements and not be used to fix holes they should have filled from the beginning. Though I would rather have it right from the start...

Quite frankly, I'm fearing they will add episodes of certain characters later and making them playable through this method. Just like how FFXV is adding episodes of Prompto and Gladio later. Since they probably can't tell us every tiny detail of the other characters' journeys, i.e. Riku and Mickey and Lea and Kairi for example, they might use that for additional content. Basically a 0.2 for the others.

Personally, I would approve of purely optional stuff like Keyblades, Costumes, or Accessories. Entire worlds would annoy me a little because even if they aren't relevant to the general plot, they still add to the personalities of the characters. I'd just like KH3 to be complete and save some worlds for the sequel that's been pretty much confirmed, instead of firing everything into KH3 as optional DLCs which will be more or less irrelevant if they don't add important story elements.

Personally, I dislike DLCs because they require an internet connection and usually a PSN account and I'm just not fond of it, but I do understand why developers use them, even need them to make a good profit. Of course one reason is for making more money and depending on how they handle it, you have to buy half the game later, but there's also the aspect of games getting larger and larger, and more and more detailed, without having more time or people working on it. With DLCs, they can add stuff they wanted to include but couldn't due to time constraints without having to sell the whole game again like with the Final Mix versions. (Honestly, that isn't much better than DLCs...)

I think all of us fear about possible DLC for KHIII being story related! Let's hope this isn't the case! X_X

I would like something like an "Episode of Lea/Kairi/Riku/Xehanort" etc. At first KH3 should not feel incomplete. But with that kind of mini episodes SE can keep us entertained with new stuff without releasing new games. They should expand KH3 like Rockstar did with GTA5. The game's complete but with online content they expanded the gta5 universe.

So can SE with bonus story and other content. :)

It would be exciting to get that kind of episodes
