SoraKH 793 Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) So Xehanort being the mastermind he is had so many back up plans in guess his original plans had failed causing confusion within the fandom(then again that's why we all love Kingdom Hearts isn't it?)So now, as all his other plans have failed Xehanort is planning to use time travel to form an Organazation consisting himself in different forms from different time periods so he can clash with the 7 guardians of light, forge the χblade and ultimately summon kingdom hearts and channel its power. That sounds like a brilliant plan but it has(As ALWAYS) raised some questions In DDD we see all the versions of Xehanort gathered in the Realm Of Sleep(?) but then they return back to their original time until the exact same plan is laid out and they return back to Sora and Riku time.1.So why did they gather in first place if they would be going back in their time anyway2. WHY would they go back in time if they have already travelled where their other versions are? Is there some sort of rule that I'm missing out?3. So if all of them were able to travel in present time, that means a version of themselves exists in that time. Which version exists? Generally I'm a bit confused as how this whole thing is going to work in KH3. Please shed some light Edited May 11, 2017 by SoraKH
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted May 11, 2017 (edited) 1. They needed to gather for the creation of the 13th vessel, which was supposed to be Sora. That however failed. As for them going back to their time, that's inevitable. They ran out of time, so it seems your time in the future is limited. 2. In the KH universe, one of the most essential rules for time travel is that you can only do it when there is a version of you waiting at the destination. Otherwise, it's impossible. They needed to go back in time to unite the 13 darknesses, which as we saw, failed. 3. Doesn't matter which version exists. So long as there is a version of you in that destination, time travel is possible. Though pretty sure for all of them, it's because a version of Xehanort existed in that time and are all therefore capable of time travel. Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted May 11, 2017 time travel in this series still doesn't sound too thought out. and how is that clash of 7 and 13 supposed to even work? do they all have to fight at the same time? are they all just going to run at each other and then we'll get a bright flash of light and suddenly the X-Blade is there? at least when the method for forming the X-Blade was a 1v1 it was a bit easier to understand how it might have formed. a fight between 7 and 13 people just seems so unbalanced and chaotic. or is xehanort casting a wide net in the hopes that one of the 7 and one of the 13 will be the strongest of each side and then they'll fight each other and make the x-blade? at this point i'm more interested in playing KH3 just to see if Nomura can tie everything up. 1 Oli reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted May 12, 2017 Well, the thing is that they traveled through time in correspondence with Xehanort's plan. I'm guessing Xehanort thought that his plans would come to fruition, but since his plans went under, his other versions ran out of time and weren't able to complete their goal, hence returning back to their own time, ya know? And well, you see, time travel in the Kingdom Hearts series consists of leaving your body behind and then transporting yourself to a point in time where there's another version of you at the destination. In this case, Young Xehanort was, in essence, the output from which the other Xehanorts connected through, ya know? The version that was present during the events of Dream Drop Distance was Young Xehanort, so he was like the magnet pulling on the other versions, ya know? I have to stop saying ya know so much. Too much Rai has influenced me.
