A Theory Regarding Vanitas!

Recommended Posts

Hey there everyone, how's it going!? So then, I'm going to be doing a little theory here, and it's been a heck of a while since I've posted a theory, so I may be a bit rusty, so please bear with me! xD

So then, recently, we got the tracks that were played in the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour Concert uploaded onto Youtube by Everglow, and well, naturally, I decided to listen to these phenomenally beautiful tracks! Upon getting to Heroes And Heroines, something particularly interesting caught my ear, and it was precisely at the end of this arrangement! Vanitas's theme was playing, in an arrangement called Heroes and Heroines!

HEROES...AND HEROINES! Vanitas ain't no hero!

Now, obviously, I'm not the only one who's gotten suspicious of this, since I've seen many members here and many Youtube comments discussing about this! Many regard that since the theme is a parallel to Sora's, that it makes sense having it there, while others say that since Vanitas is a part of Ven's heart, it makes sense for the theme to be there.  But I think that this may be something else!

It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that Vanitas could end up becoming an anti-hero, and somehow help the side of the light in the conflict of the Seven and Thirteen! Though how this would go about, I have no clue, since I have always assumed Vanitas would likely be a Seeker Of Darkness! But when thinking about it, maybe there will come a time when Ventus has to confront Vanitas again, but this time, I can see Ventus trying to reason with him! I could see him trying to come at peace with Vanitas being the darkness in his heart, like how Riku came to peace with his own darkness, ya know? Maybe there could be a battle in which Vanitas tests the strength of Ven's heart, and when Ven wins, Vanitas caves in, and he decides to accept Ventus as his equal, and he joins the heroes...or doesn't! I can see him being a lone wolf kind of anti-hero. Honestly, I've just loved the idea of him being an anti-hero, since he's just way too badass, and he kind of gives off a Vegeta vibe, ya know?

Now, I'm sure Vanitas wouldn't make it easy to try to knock sense into him, but if he could become a hero, that would be awesome! Of course, he'd still be cocky and have his same personality, but he'd side with the Guardians Of Light as an independent fighter, like Donald and Goofy! But what do you all think?

since Vanitas will have a 65% chance of showing up in KH3 I would like to see him fight Sora and Sora would be all confused and be like "Hey why you look like me with black hair!" and then Vanitas will talk about how Sora reminds him so much of Ven he tells him where he come from and that he is connected to him and then Vanitas starts to feel something strange in him like the goodness inside him because of Sora idk, but i think that would be awesome!

Great theory on Vanitas!  He is just too awesome of a character to be discarded.  I personally hope that he and Sora will have a one-on-one fight, and that it will have a major impact on KH3's plot, however it progresses.  Vanitas is definitely one of my favorite "villains" in the series up to this point (I like to think he's more of a "tragic villain" than a straight villain).  Had Master Xehanort not forced him to use darkness in malicious, harmful ways, I think it's possible that Vanitas would not have been necessarily "evil" during the events of BBS.  He probably still would have had an identity crisis upon learning about, and meeting with, Ventus for the first time, though.

I agree!!!!! Anti-Hero Vanitas!!!! Anti-Hero Vanitas!!!! Anti-Hero Vanitas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heck to the yes, man!!! :D  I can imagine him sort of like the way I made Vanitas an anti-hero type character in my Keyblade War Trilogy! He was on the side of light, but he wasn't exactly nice! :3

Of course! Vanitas as a hero will be the best thing ever!

Oh yeah, I'm just waiting for it to happen! I'm sure it'd be amazing! X_X

That's a very interesting theory, Key. :) it could be possible.

Thank you, I'm glad you think so! If it were the case, the Guardians Of Light would gain a pretty awesome ally!

Well, having him battle Sora would make sense, as Sora is the one who's been keeping Ven's heart inside him, ya know? I think that's probably the reason why Sora could see Vanitas alongside Young Xehanort in La Cite De Cloches in Dream Drop Distance! Since Ven's heart is inside Sora's, I'm guessing it resonated with Vanitas, and therefore, Sora could see him! I'm sure that if the two would clash, it would make for an interesting confrontation!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :D  Yeah, I agree, I really want to see more of him, as I believe that he could have done with more character development outside of Birth By Sleep, ya know? I'm sure that Vanitas will have an important role in the story! After all, he is the darkness of Ven's heart, and Ven can't deny that part of him forever, ya know? Oh yeah, I believe that because of Xehanort's machinations, Vanitas turned out the way he did, but had things gone differently, we might have seen him in a different light! The rivalry between him and Ventus would probably still reign strong, since each is a parallel to each other! Light vs. dark!

Yeah! In fact, part of my reasoning to love Anti-Hero Vanitas comes from your Keyblade War Trilogy

Also, I've loved the Anti-Hero character since I first saw Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel. Have you ever seen either show? I highly recommend, and they have comics continuing the story after the shows ended.

Haha, really? I'm flattered, man! I appreciate the kind words! ^_^

And yes, I've heard of Buffy, and I even watched one or two episodes way back when I was a kid, but I don't remember much, ya know?  But yeah, anti-heroes are always awesome! Vegeta's probably my favorite! Well, I mean, by now, he's more hero than anti-hero, but you get my drift!
