KHUX How do you think the plot of Union Cross will play out?

As the title asks, how do you think the plot of this already bizarre story is going to go about? We've got some weird Unchained world (possibly inside the Realm of Sleep?), Ventus is here for some reason, there are two more people that are going to join Ephemer's crew and we don't know what they're going to do once they're all assembled.

 

Also, the X-blade was noticeably absent from the finale in Kingdom Hearts X.

 

It could be argued that without the χ-blade, the Keyblade War might never have been waged; after all, you cannot possess what you cannot find or unlock.

Was the X-blade involved in the Keyblade War? Is it what's in the master's box?

 

 

I personally have no idea what's going to happen, only that I have a particularly bad feeling. The simple fact that Ventus is going to end up an amnesiac in the hands of Master Xehanort implies that the story is going to end in yet another tragedy.

I'm thinking the story will go "back and forth". Like: "Present Day and The Future."

 

Present Day: Us doing quests all the way to the Keyblade War.

The Future: Ephemer, Skuld, Ventus, and the other two folks, doing Lords knows what.

 

As far as Ventus is concern I see it one way so far:

 

1. He'll end up not remembering Skuld, Ephemer, and the other two folks after something crazy has happen. Those memories are deep within, waiting to surface up. That's so far what I can say. How he ended up with Xehanort is beyond my comprehension, unless Time Travel is involved or some crazy means of conjuring Ventus into the same time where Xehanort is.

 

I'm starting to think of what's in that darn box is the true X-blade. Cause Xehanort tried to create his own Light and Darkness to forge the X-blade (back in BBS), but he made a mistake doing so.  Maybe he's the one that is trying to look for the box. So, when the two sides of Light and Darkness clashes, it might trigger the box to respond so it needs to be open and the X-blade will be forged.

At this point, it's really hard to say, we're literally in uncharted (or unchained, lol) territory here. Before we just had the plot of the original X to rely on, even when we knew that we were going to diverge at some point. Well, it's diverging time, so everything from here on out is going to be unfamiliar. Heck, there's only a month's difference of progress between the American and Japanese versions, we're practically at the same pace almost. So even if we get the scenes of Japan's UX translated, in another few weeks we're going to get them ourselves anyway. It's certainly going to be interesting to see how this plays out, as it isn't going to be as predictable as it may have been before, even if we're certain it will end up with Ven having something happen to him that takes him to the age of Xehanort, there's still lots of other events that could happen around that that we could never guess up.

 

What I DO hope for is that there will be some way we can experience or witness the events of the Keyblade War even if we're on a different path, like, I don't know, more dream cutscenes or something. Our character has had dreams before, maybe they can have dreams of the events that they took place in "another place, another time" as they slowly start to piece together just what happened to them and why they're perfectly fine now as if nothing had happened. Of course I could also see it going in a past and future thing like RikuFangirl suggested, as some sort of way of having the rest of X's story alongside the new developments of UX's story.

My theory is that Ventus will end up in the Realm of Darkness, only to be found by Xehanort there. Once Xehanort assists Ventus to the outside world, he will be in the Birth by Sleep era.

^I fancy this idea because time flows differently in the RoD as well as Aqua mentions in 2.8 that people tend to lose their sense of self in the RoD. Perhaps history will repeat itself and there will be paranoia among the five union cross leaders? 

 

That or these may play a role.

As far as the χ-blade goes, your guess is as good as mine. Knowing Nomura it'll probably be something out of left field.

I have absolutely no clue how KHUnionXCross will play out. I find what has been revealed as a complete monkey wrench thrown in and make us rethink the story. It is somewhat making my head hurt.

^I fancy this idea because time flows differently in the RoD as well as Aqua mentions in 2.8 that people tend to lose their sense of self in the RoD. Perhaps history will repeat itself and there will be paranoia among the five union cross leaders?

As far as the χ-blade goes, your guess is as good as mine. Knowing Nomura it'll probably be something out of left field. 

Except those pods likely came from Castle Oblivion, and the Organization may have been experimenting with how they could be used. I mean, Vexen loves using living test subjects and all that, it wouldn't be that surprising. Besides, maybe that's where they were originally storing the Replicas before they ended up using any of them.

Well, to me, I think that things will play out interestingly! For one thing, we may finally bear witness to the origin of Ventus, and get a little more insight into his character prior to Birth By Sleep! All I know is that at the end of it all, something bad will happen, otherwise things would be different in the present day, and Ventus would be old or dead! I'm thinking that as Skuld, Ephemer and Ventus gather together and search for the other two Union leaders, they'll come across major revelations regarding the X-Blade and maybe the end of this story will be the actual Keyblade War!  Since the one we saw in X was a "dream" apparently, then maybe this was a sign of things to come, and that the eventual Keyblade War will come, and this time, the X-Blade will be involved!

 

It's exciting to think what we'll discover in the coming months!

Haha, such is the way of Kingdom Hearts is it not? To be fair there were quite a few hints with Ventus making an appearance via Nomura's artworks, interviews, and the fact that we have no idea why Ventus was apprenticed to Xehanort pre-BBS. Doesn't make it any less mind boggling though.

Ah, that is true as well. I'm actually leaning towards the RoD route I posted prior, that being said I still think the pods may still potentially play a role.
