Tails 6,690 Posted March 8, 2017 DigitalFoundry has done a comparison between the PS4, PS Vita, and Switch version of Dragon Quest Heroes. ANd I must say, I am disaapointed in the Switch port. I know that the Switch is less powerful than the PS4 but the fact that it performs worse than the Vita bersion is really worrysome. I really hope that Nintendo Swithc ports such as Sonic Mania and Sonic "Project 2017" turn out to be good ports on Switch and not have any issues with the frame rate. Becuase even though there isn't much performance issues with the Switch port of LoZ: Breath of the Wild, the Wii U version is actually faster than the Switch version. Which is slightly questionable to me. But at the same time it's understandable and not a big issue to me since the Switch is using cartidges, causing games like Breath of the Wild to have compressed cutscenes. I just hope that ports on the Switch will be good because this has got me a little bit worried wit how Switch ports will be handled and performed on the console. Shulk 8,623 Posted March 8, 2017 First off, just because one launch port has framerate issues doesn't mean that every port will be that way. This is just one example, and it's been said the Switch is easy to port to. From what I've heard, ports of Warriors games tend to usually be pretty bad, and this one isn't an exception. As for Breath of the Wild, it runs perfectly fine in handheld mode. The dock upscales it to 900p, which makes framerate issues occur occasionally, but it isn't that bad. Also, cartridges aren't a lesser medium anymore. They have a lot more space than discs do, technology's come a long way since the N64 days. 3 Steeghs, Dio Brando and Tails reacted to this
Guest Posted March 8, 2017 You do realise that Dragon Quest Heroes 2 on PS4 is a standalone release, whilst the Nintendo Switch version contains both Dragon Quest Heroes games? You should start making the comparisons once Skyrim is available.
Exiblade7 1,917 Posted March 8, 2017 It switch version of the game doesn't look bad to me, mostly because I didn't notice any major framedrops

But I just found it weird that a game like Dragon Quest Warriors had a bad port on the Switch, especially since the Vita version slightly performs better in comparison. But yeah, I'm sure not all Switch ports will be bad. As for Breath of the Wild, the game runs well on the Switch. The only thing the Wii U version has over the Switch version are the loading times. Making the Wii U version the faster version of that game. Other than that, the Switch version is nearly identical to the Wii U version in both visuals and gameplay performance. And yeah, cartridges have really come a long way, I guess I still had the mind set that cartidges still didn't have as much space as a game disc like with the N64/PS1 days. Ports such as Mario kart 8 Deluxe runs quite well on the Switch. You do realise that Dragon Quest Heroes 2 on PS4 is a standalone release, whilst the Nintendo Switch version contains both Dragon Quest Heroes games? You should start making the comparisons once Skyrim is available. That doesn't matter at all. That's like telling someone to realize that KH3 is a standalone release while 1.5+2.5 on the PS4 contains most of the games leading to KH3. When the PS4 ports run extremely well on the system dispite all the games being fit into one disc. Disc/cartridge space has nothing to do with it, really. All the Kingdom Hearts entries in 1.5 and 2.5 were native standard definition upscaled to high definition, these games are two native high definition titles into one cartridge. Disk/cartridge space has everything to do with it.
