The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted February 23, 2017 Don't dismiss it because of the title, he actually loves the franchise a lot and his favourite game is BBS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCuDWzFI1dU 3 The Transcendent Key, KingdomHearts3 and 2 quid is good reacted to this
Neoshadow99 31 Posted March 1, 2017 (edited) Interesting video, though Drake appears to contradict himself when he says that Kingdom Hearts is one of his favorite series, only to follow that up with saying it's stupid. How does that even work? One of the strangest opinions I have heard for any game, ever. Other than that, I found myself in agreement with some of the things Drake mentioned, like the style over substance bit. I would even go as far to say that this began happening with the release of KH2, but is also something that I greatly enjoy about the series. I disagreed with him on how KH still has "basic" gameplay. How did he not see the evolution in combat and exploration mechanics in both BBS and DDD? I don't think those games are at all basic with their combat-oriented gameplay, quite the opposite, as they have depth that I haven't seen much of in other action rpgs, hack and slashes, etc. KH can get very flashy, very stylish, and yet still tell an incredible, thought-provoking, even touching, story that spans so many characters, worlds, and powerful themes. This balance is what makes KH one my absolute favorite series, and I don't say that lightly. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 8, 2017 This was a pretty good video! I can understand Drake's worries about the Kingdom Hearts series moving forward, but I'm sure that there'll be nothing but innovation moving forward! I love that Nomura has experimented with different gameplay styles in Birth By Sleep, Days and the other non-numbered entries, helping to evolve the series into what it is now! I'm sure that the series will evolve naturally and awesomely! And well, Kingdom Hearts III will offer us the epic conclusion to the Xehanort Saga, and I couldn't be more excited! 1 Neoshadow99 reacted to this

I have to say, the experimentation in gameplay mechanics in DDD pleasantly surprised me. I remember when I first started watching a Let's Play of the game when it released, and just wasn't sure how to feel about it, especially the Dream Eaters. Now that I'm playing it myself, it no doubt has some of the best core gameplay in the series, with the Spirits link attack system and the Flowmotion. Never has a KH title been so fast-paced and varied with movement options! Well, except maybe BBS, which has a TON of options for combat and movement, but lacks Flowmotion. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted March 17, 2017 I have to say, the experimentation in gameplay mechanics in DDD pleasantly surprised me. Never has a KH title been so fast-paced and varied with movement options! Well, except maybe BBS, which has a TON of options for combat and movement, but lacks Flowmotion. Oh yeah, Dream Drop Distance is definitely a curious experiment in gameplay techniques! For one thing, the Link Attacks are a great way of battling, as they provide a boost in power and stylish attacks to dish out against the enemy! I also found Flowmotion an entertaining part of the experience, since it made combat acrobatic, ya know? That, and mixing the command menu of Birth By Sleep made for a pleasant experience, and training Dream Eaters and obtaining abilities and spells and items and the like from them was a rewarding experience! And with Birth By Sleep, I definitely loved the combat, especially the Shotlocks and Command Styles! I liked that they were similar to Drive Forms, with the difference being that the style took the shape of whatever playstyle you were going at, be it the fire specific Firestorm, the overall magic activating Spellweaver, the chilly Diamond Dust style, and so on! I especially loved melding commands, since that allowed for experimentation to develop potently powerful attacks! It was very awesome! And now, in Kingdom Hearts III, we'll see the culmination of all of these years of waiting and experimentation! It's gonna be awesome!
