Most Unreplayable KH Game?

Recommended Posts

Hm... if Unchained X counts then that otherwise it's currently Chain of memories, since i only played the GBA and PS3 version one time each. (Doesn't mean I don't like them, they're great :3 )

Um, shouldn't this be phrased "Least Replayable KH Game"? "Most un-" just sounds kind of redundant to me, lol.

Anyway, I'd argue that there's enough reason to replay most of these games directly after finishing the main scenario, but I guess I will admit that certain games in the series manage to grab my interest for longer periods of time and for more reasons than others. In terms of which games do I really care the least about completing every single optional thing after beating the story once, I guess I don't really follow through on Days, Re:Coded, and CoM/Re:CoM that much, but this is kind of unfair since some of them just don't have a lot to offer after their main campaigns are completed. The most Re:CoM has going for it is completing your card collection and getting the two super cards (I've never gotten that far, never even attempted. After Re:CoM I was always eager to move on to the next title), Days really doesn't offer a whole lot beyond that one secret/extra boss in one of the last missions and unlocking other weapons and challenge modes for missions, and with Re:Coded I guess there wasn't much more beyond the extra floor dungeon things. I'll admit, Dream Drop Distance kind of has a similar problem to all 3 of these in not having much more to offer post-game, apart from harder versions of ALMOST all of the bosses (why can't I fight Chernabog again, damn it?), Julius, and completing your Dream Eater collections. In a way, it technically combines the post game content of all 3 previous Nintendo portable titles, and yet it's not gripping or interesting enough to really justify playing the game beyond it's relatively brief story.

I still love all 4 of those games, but once you've beaten their stories it's kind of hard to justify continuing to play them post-game. I will always be up for re-exploring them any other random time and especially for a series marathon, but it's kind of up to how good my patience is by the time I finish their main stories.

One of the games that I don't want to replay that much should be probably... 358/2 Days. While the last part of the game is incredible, mostly storywise. The gameplay is not that great, it has cool ideas tho. (Limits Breaks and the full Org. XIII playable) But the panel system is... it's... aaaaaaaaa. Can't stand it.

Then comes Dream Drop Distance. It's been a while since I've finish the game and with 2.8 I'll be replaying it soon enough. But, disregarding 2.8, I think it's one of the Kingdom Hearts I've enjoyed the least. I can say without too mush doubt that I prefer Re:Coded's gameplay over DDD's. It has something to do with the Flow Motion for sure.

I still play 358/2 Days sometimes, for the final boss, to play Marluxia, even if the gameplay (AND THIS GODDAMN PANEL SYSTEM) feels a bit off for me, I love this game, every time I look at the box of 358/2 I remember of Xion, Axel and Roxas. I can't hate that game.

Butn when I think about DDD... I remember about... Sora's english voice... and... Flow Motion... and... time-travel bullshit... Yeah. It's probably my least favourite game.

(Oh, I don't count Unchained X as a real Kingdom Hearts game. But if I had to count him, he would steal the award of worst Kingdom Hearts title for sure.)

I didn't talked about Chain of Memories (and Re:CoM) simply because if I had to make a list of my most favourite Kingdom Hearts They would be near the top. (3th at least)

I think you and I have differences when it comes to replay ability. For me it means starting a completely new file to see what type of alternative stuff I can do, recall significant moments, or just for fun. Starting up an old file just for the post-game content doesn't sound all to fun (but definitely counts under replayablity). I'm more likely to start a new file just to be familiarize myself with the game's content and THEN work up to the post-game content.

Anyway it's because of this logic that I enjoy replaying KH1, Re:CoM (despite it's lack of post-game content), and even BBS since they offer new experiences for me to play with whenever I replay with them unlike KH2FM.

Accurate statements are accurate. I also agree however Re:CoM is honestly my 2nd favorite KH game. And it's one of my most replayed KH games yet since it is just so much fun customizing Sora's deck and choosing how both he and Riku level up.

Oh, well in that case, I love replaying all the games, lol. Just not directly after I completed them the first time, I need to give them time to refresh for me. XD"

Majorly unpopular opinion here, but for me it's KH 1: I know the story pretty much by heart, so I'd only really play it to find all the damn puppies. It's not really as gripping as it was the first time, so I haven't played it in quite awhile. It's still a fantastic game, and enjoyable, but not good for a ton of replays.

BBS has a touch of not-replayable to it, after you unlock everything, and see all the endings and bonus movies. Starting from scratch just seems a bit boring.

COM for me. I've beaten it once per console it came out on but replaying it gets kinda old. I've replayed every other KH game several times doing challenge runs and what-not but COM just gets me so I can really only play it for about 2 hours before getting bored and changing games

In order

1) Coded

2)Chain of memories

3)358/2 Days

The rest I could always Replay.

I have yet to finish any of these games above. The one I play the most is Kh1.

jea all the inbetween games are awesome story wise but and the gameplay works but there is no replay value. I stick to KH1/2 and when it comes out probalby 3

I wouldn't say the in-between games are good story wise. Only COM and Days do a good job with the story imo. Everything else seems to be making stuff up as it goes.

I'm not a huge fan of KHCOM's gameplay but I find the other titles manageable. Days, BBS, Coded, and 3D are all fun to replay for me. They have decent gameplay. I just hate COM because of its stupid card system. I hate using the cards to play. Infuriates me, limits me to a point I can't handle, and makes me want to throw the controler across the room.

So that's why this is the only game in the series I don't want to replay. I have already replayed every other title in the series to death. :P

Days is an absolute grind. i tried replaying it and stopped pretty quickly. once the novelty of "wow a fully 3D KH game on a handheld" wares off (and i remember it's done better on a PSP) i lose all motivation to keep playing. the story is stretched out so thin across so many days and nothing of interest happens for so long.

at least Re:Coded has things happening. there's an actual story with events taking place. yes, they essentially make you play through the story 3 times for some reason and the game feels like it never ends, but it's more interesting than Days.

and Re:CoM gets better the longer you play. Once you begin to upgrade your deck size and get better cards there's a lot of fun to be had from customizing your deck and planning sleights out.

358/2 Days is a game i'll probably never go back to.

Lol now I feel bad for being in the minority who actually LIKES replaying CoM. That being said it IS a bit redundant replaying as Riku since his gameplay is much more limited than Sora's. However I still enjoy replaying the game.

Days IS a grind to play through. I have 3 files with the first one being completed and the other 2 half way. I also don't like the story too much in that game despite the praise. Anyways Days was pretty good the first time through but anymore than that is too much for me.

oh no i don't think there's anything wrong with liking to replay CoM. i mean it has some good replay value in the ways you can customize your decks. the game really opens up after the first few worlds and that's when it becomes fun to experiment with the cards. while Riku's story is a bit more redundant, it's also shorter than Sora's so i guess that makes up for it a bit.

and i also don't get all the praise aimed at Days' story. maybe it's just because it's been so long since i've played it/watched the cinematics but i don't remember ever feeling really emotionally invested in the Roxas/Axel/Xion trio. I was more emotionally invested in Roxas during the KH2 prologue because you were watching his life crumble around him while he was helpless to stop it.

it feels like so little happens in Days because a lot of the story takes place in about 2 locations.

Not only that but KH2's prologue presented Organization Roxas (the one in the flashbacks) as some sort of smart, confident badass with a side of deadpan snarker & emo (not the bad kind). I really wanted to see how he would end up like that when playing Days but it just never came to fruition. Yeah those same flashbacks are in Days but they never felt like Roxas ever grew into that character.

Also while I also enjoy Roxas's character in the KH2 prologue I do NOT enjoy playing KH2's prologue whenever I replay the game. It feels so tedious and "fillery" (which is another reason I don't enjoy replaying KH2 as much). Like the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 6th days are pretty good but the 2nd (jobs day) and 5th (7 wonders) I could just do without.
