The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted January 30, 2017 (edited) It's 6am in Japan on the 31st, Final Fantasy 7 has turned 20 (like 6 hrs ago I'm late) years old! One of the most influential JRPGS ever, the story of Final Fantasy 7 remains one of the most captivating in any game I've ever played. A simple act of terrorism evolves into something much bigger and soon the entire world is caught up in a catastrophe that only you and your party can stop. Boasting a star studded cast featuring Identity Crisis, a martial artist with huge assets, Mr T, roar x Dee, A useless bunny rabbit, Yuffie Uchiha, Edward Cullen, Mrs 'I died in vain' and the smoker who swears a lot. Oh and how could I forget about Mommy's boy? Still one of the best implementations of the ATB system in any game I've ever played. It managed to find the perfect balance of speed and tactics, you can't wait too long to choose your move else the enemy will attack you. Cloud's identity crisis and character growth remains one of my favourite character arcs in any video game. After being cured from the effects of the Mako poisoning and coming back to his senses, we get a glimpse of the real Cloud for the last hour of the game. During FF7 Cloud is really just living a lie, he's not SOLDIER First Class like Zack, he's not a legend like Sephiroth-he couldn't even prevent Aeris dying, he caused Tifa's mother to fall into a coma, after not becoming First Class he hides his face from Tifa since he couldn't keep his promise (during his visit to Nibelheim). Cloud is a failure, but in the end he learns to accept his shortcomings for the sake of himself and more importantly-the planet and the ones on it. He accepts that he's not amazing or brave, he's just scared and the game teaches us that that is okay. Sometimes being yourself is the best thing to be, you shouldn't try to be like others. The Cloud that faces Sephiroth in the final battles is the real Cloud, although he's not the amazing Shinra Soldier he thought he was-he's still more prepared to fight Sephiroth now than ever he was before. I could go on and on, but I'm sure this game has affected a lot of people on here. FF7 is definitely my second FF game after 9. VII was my first FF at the age of 10, now I am 28. My aunt worked in the gaming industry as an animator, and used to send me games she liked. I'm really glad she gave me this game or I may never have discovered them and been without some great times and memories. It's what got me into RPGs, and that led to KH later on. RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted January 30, 2017 Only close memories I have of Final Fantasy 7 is: When I was really young in Elementary School, I remember seeing Final Fantasy 7 on the PS box and I thought Sephiroth was a lady at the time, and the thing he was holding (the thing he picked up and Jenova was right behind it) was her lover. At the time I was thinking Final Fantasy 7 was some video game title for teenagers and not for kids to play. I also wasn't really into Final Fantasy because of this. I also wasn't aware there were more Final Fantasy titles before 7 nor I didn't know it existed way before I was even born. I also remember my ex-boyfriend told me that there were three discs? of the game, and he got it. In middle school going to high school, Kingdom Hearts pretty much got me into Final Fantasy (mostly 7), let alone set me straight about it (referring to the part where I thought Sephiroth was a girl... Please don't ask me why I thought that, I was a little girl ok? LOL). Now when I was the 9th grade (I think), I ended seeing the Japanese Dubbed Final Fantasy Advent Children, at my older stepbrother's house (at the time....). Then I think I saw the English Dubbed of it two grades down? (I hope Dirge of Cerberus counts...) Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7 was my first Final Fantasy (sequel title?) I got in high school, and Vincent Valentine became my favorite FF7 character. My second favorite is Cloud. 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this

Vincent is also my favourite character from this game, he's just amazing like c'mon. I'll never understand why Cait Sith was mandatory but Vincent was optional. 1 RikuFangirl2008 reacted to this

I'll never understand why Cait Sith was mandatory but Vincent was optional. I know right?! I guess Cait was spying on one of the mission in DoC? And don't get me started on when you've been spotted. I tried attacking the Deepground Soldier and well--Cait's attack were weak as heck... It was so disappointing and kinda embarrassing. 2 Joker and The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
Shard the Gentleman 2,891 Posted January 31, 2017 Final Fantasy 9 is my favorite, always will be, but 7 was pretty good. I loved it, despite the poor translations. It's a pretty big jump this remake is getting: From Square's first 3D game ever, to it's most anticipated remake on modern consoles. I'm pretty excited to see how this transition plays out. Also, I never really thought of Cloud's identity crisis all that much, I was mostly thinking about the events that were occurring. I didn't really like Cloud as a character but now I see how I should give him another chance. I don't care all that much for Brooding characters.
