Kingdomhe 1,362 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) It doesn't seem worth it to get on day one or maybe even this year. It's seems like a combo of the Wii U's and PS3's launch, no games and to expensive. It doesn't matter what the other companies' consoles cost at their launch, the here and now is the thing costs $299 with pretty much no launch titles vs. PS4 and Xbox that has a well established library for the same cost or less depending on which one you get. I'm not willing to pay over $300 for a Zelda machine, I could just get it for the Wii U but cheaper. The controllers are really expensive, $79 and for the separate (L) or ( R ) Joy-cons $49. Now your paying for Online which I hate, it was the one thing I loved Nintendo for and it was the edge they had over everybody else. Plus, the games that they are giving away are only going to be old ones that we have seen and played before and nothing new. Also, the way they are wording it makes it seem like you could either loose them after a month or you could keep them. Plus, the battery life is kind of vague too. I'm not saying it's a bad console, but the way that they are handling it is weird, they are expecting people to shuck out money like hard candy on launch but since the wii u, I don't think that's going to happen given what we've been shown (maybe if they had shown Overwatch or Smash or something hard hitting coming out in march). I'll probably get one when the price goes down, but I still won't be happy about the Subscription fee for online. Komali 594 Posted January 13, 2017 It's too expensive. No interesting games except Mario, Zelda, MK8 and Xenoblade this year. But it's not enough to get a new console, especially if there are plenty of other games coming for PS4 and Xbox One. I'll just wait for a price drop. Guest Posted January 13, 2017 Actually, Nintendo is handling the Nintendo Switch so bad, there's going to be limited quantities for pre-orders.
Exiblade7 1,917 Posted January 13, 2017 I honestly don't care if the price for the switch is high. I'm still going to get it 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
The Deathdealer 96 Posted January 13, 2017 399.99 CAD(where i live), paid online? yeah no that's a deal breaker for me, if it was just 399.99 with free online i'd be fine with that, but the second they said paid online, I closed the stream, and left, f taht BS. 2 Exiblade7 and Kingdomhe reacted to this

The Deathdealer 96 Posted January 13, 2017 I'm soo salty man last year when the thing was announced I was so happy about it, I went to being so happy and hyped to just just pure rage in a couple of months seriously I really hoped Nintendo wouldn't do this if they did something like the PS3 where you can still play online but you had the option to pay for this service, then fine I would be ok with this, this however yeah no forget about it. 1 Kingdomhe reacted to this
Isaix 924 Posted January 13, 2017 It sucks that its 399$ in Canada,I might not be able to get it at launch afterall. They didn't mention any good launch titles beside Zelda that's true but to me it doesn't matter as long as the good games are coming eventually 2 Master Eraqus and Kingdomhe reacted to this
FlyingEggplant 116 Posted January 13, 2017 Well it's 4990 Swedish kronor here and that's about 560 dollars so you should count yourself lucky with that price. it's cheaper to import it from the US then to buy it here. Still not gonna buy since none of the games annouced look interesting except Zelda but i'm not gonna buy a console for one game 1 Kingdomhe reacted to this
Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted January 13, 2017 (maybe if they had shown Overwatch or Smash or something hard hitting coming out in march) well they announced a little something called Legend of Zelda for Switch launch so....there's that lol but i agree. for right now the Switch seems like a great console to get later. right now i already know i'd buy the new Zelda and the new Mario but everything else so far hasn't caught my interest enough to justify dropping $360 bucks on a new system and game. definitely going to take the wait and see approach. Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted January 13, 2017 Paid Online is a great thing honestly. In case no one knew, it's a lot harder to make functioning dedicated servers on console. With paid services you get better online. It's that simple. 1 FlyingEggplant reacted to this
Smithee 327 Posted January 13, 2017 To be semi-fair, at least the eShop will still be non-paid (excluding, you know, your actual purchases, of course). 2 Sendou Aichi and Kingdomhe reacted to this
Sendou Aichi 2,356 Posted January 13, 2017 Well, I have 3 games that I am interested in that I know(Xenoblade 2, the Blazblue for the switch, and Breath of the Wild, by order of excitement), 2 of which are 100% exclusives. While it isn't enough to buy a console at launch, it is better than the amount of games I was interested in the Xbox One/PS4 that I knew will come out before launch.(I wouldn't have an Xbox if my bro didn't buy it) 1 Kingdomhe reacted to this

Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Yet we still have problems with these servers that we are paying $59 a year for.I don't know about you, but I haven't personally had any server issues for my paid services. Also specs are up on the site I believe. The big question most people had was the battery life, hence the reason they touched on that subject. Kingdomhe 1,362 Posted January 13, 2017 I don't know about you, but I haven't personally had any server issues for my paid services. Ps4 store takes for ever to load, is glitchy, errors, hackers, browser is crappy and was better on ps3, laggy games (I know they aren't really responsible for this one, but online gameplay is what your paying them for ). I've never had Xbox live so I can't speak for them. 2 The 13th Kenpachi and The Deathdealer reacted to this

I am a "quality over quantity" person, especially since I don't have that much time to play video games compared to the past, in addition to having high standards for the video games I play. Games that are only good I buy when there are sales and when I don't really have other games to play that belong to that game's genre otherwise. 1 Kingdomhe reacted to this

BlankShell 638 Posted January 13, 2017 The thing that gets me is that they're not showing they learned anything from the Wii U's failure. I get that 300 dollars comparatively isn't the worst price, but that's the price you let your previous system languish in while others steamrolled you. Take the hit, make the price lower, and ensure the software makes up the difference. And yeah, paid online can go take a flying leap. Especially if they stop making new handhelds (and isn't that the whole point of the Switch?), there will be riots if we have to pay 10 bucks a month or whatever to trade Pokemon. 1 Kingdomhe reacted to this

MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted January 13, 2017 Definitely not worth getting at launch. There are only about 5 games I'm interested in. Oh yes it totally is when it's free on PC, yeah no. If the PC can do it for free, have a comparable service, and less crashes, I shouldn't have to pay for it nah fam.PC would have easier connections to servers than a console would. Besides, a company like Valve doesn't need to charge for their online services, they make enough money off of Steam anyway. They know that a lot of people will stop using the service if they start charging. Plus, there are games you gotta pay for online anyway like The Elder Scrolls online. Still paying to play online is BS, luckily Breath of the Wild is on the Wii U, and by extension Cemu(A Wii U Emulator that is working very well actually) Which means by extension XENOBLADE CHRONICLES X 4K Mario Kart 8 4K 60FPShttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34ajMjRUMDo&t=245s Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD I wonder how well BoTW will run, hope it's good at launch. As it stands right now the Wii U is my last console, damn. The only games I care about that are on console are Square Enix titles and we all know how adamant they are right now about building a presence on Steam, man all those ports their alright could be better though. OmegaForte 1,674 Posted January 13, 2017 Pretty much what most said here. There's at best 3 games I'm remotely interested in, and one of them I can simply buy on the Wii U. I'm definitely not going to rush in for a pre-order. I'll wait for a holiday deal or till there's a bundle that's interesting. I'm not losing anything from not buying it on day 1.
