Niko Collins 83 Posted January 13, 2017 Kingdom Hearts is a great franchise and I love it...although I have to admit it has some pretty mean fans. Especially when you put the way to play the games in the equation. I was watching videos on what makes people scrubs, and the reasons are ridiculous. The mot common reason is doing this is for this boss fight or powerful opponents or using this ability to easily get through a boss fight. For example, using Fenrir to beat the Lingering Will, using Ven and Aqua against the Unknown Figure and not Terra, etc. Why do people say this kinda stuff? It's not really their business what one does or how they play a particular Kingdom Hearts game. But here's what makes me a scrub, in my opinion. 1) I never try any of the special runs others do like the Critical Lv1 run. Why? Simple...I'm not a masochist. I don't wanna dedicate my life to trying to do that kinda thing. 2) I always played on Beginner. Why? I just like to play for the experience...not the awards and recognition. I play to enjoy it... 3) I will use any cheap and pointless tactics when I am desperate. Why? Easy! Even on Beginner the bosses can be hard at times. So any cheap tactics I can find I will use it! The spamming surges and shotlocks in BBS? DID IT!! Spamming Limit Form? DONE! Using Balloon in DDD? GUILTY AS CHARGED!!! I hate doing it but I have to sometimes...well almost all of the time... So that's what makes me a scrub when playing Kingdom Hearts. I am not afraid to admit that I will do things people consider you a scrub for doing and you guys probably have done these too. i am a cheap KH player and I will use any type of exploits the game leaves for me to use! 3 Philip Ellwell, The Transcendent Key and PrinceNoctis reacted to this
PrinceNoctis 1,011 Posted January 13, 2017 (edited) Play the game the way you want to play it, who cares. If you want to give yourself a challenge, that's cool, but if you want to play simply then that's cool too. People should just mind their business. I've seen the video you're referring and I can't tell you how stupid I thought it was. Why is it a problem if I use a game mecanic to beat a boss...that's why it's in the game! To be used! Niko Collins 83 Posted January 13, 2017 Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. I really thought I was Play the game the way you want to play it, who cares. thatkingdomheartsguy 153 Posted January 13, 2017 Hey man, to each their own. Everyone has different playstyles and stuff. Afterall, the overall point is to have fun right? I think my personal motivation to challenge myself on the hardest difficulties is because I've expired the game in its entirety. Playing on Beginner Mode is too boring for me, since I don't enjoy plowing my way through the game. Obviously the reason I'm able to do this is because of a somewhat (probably unhealthy) obsession with understanding really deep mechanics about KH games, so once I realize these mechanics are in place, a lot of gameplay elements become super easy for me. Anyways though, it's cool that you play on beginner mode, as long as you're enjoying the experience
Alja 61 Posted January 13, 2017 Hey, that's what all of those difficulty settings are there for, right? I'm not a pro either, I know I will never make a Crit 1 run, I'm proud enough that I started a Crit run on KH2 (and it paid me off by me wasting 5 hours in the Cavern of Remembrance because I was too weak to proceed and died every - single - time right in front of the last door) and had my first playthrough of BBS not on Standard but proud (but only because I really wanted to play the Final and Secret Episode and didn't feel like playing the game twice in a row to achieve that). I'm bad with doing extra stuff that isn't enjoyable or important to the storyline - as soon as the story's done, I'm done with the game, I can go on for a few days maybe, but then I get bored. And it's fine, I had my fun, I enjoyed it. This game an easy game (but that doesn't mean it can't get challenging!) so the player can get the experience of the story, of the world this game created. That's the beauty of Kingdom Hearts that it wants to share. And if somebody wants a challenge, there's always Proud and Critical(1) waiting for them. Maybe that's even the reason why you have to unlock Critical in 0.2, so the player gets the game experience in their first playthrough and can really focus on what is happening around them instead of thinking of mechanics and strategies to win all fights. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted January 14, 2017 Well hey, in my personal opinion, you can play the Kingdom Hearts games whatever which way you want! Every player has their own way of playing the game, with their own means, ya know? I can understand that some of the fanbase is mean because they think that spamming moves is a cheap thing to do, but hey, if you take advantage of spamming, then hey, you're the one playing the game, so you're the one enjoying it, ya know? KH fans should really learn to be nicer. (Obviously not every KH fan is mean, I'm just talking about the specific ones you're talking about, dude!) Personally, I love playing the games on their highest difficulty, in Critical! Cuz I feel that Critical is the beginner mode to me! X3 But you'll never see me doing a Critical Lvl 1 run! I mean, I love the games, but I wouldn't try that challenge! Kudos to the ones who've done it, though! But anyways, KH is meant to be enjoyed however the player wants to enjoy it, ya know? So it's alright, relax!
DaxtotheMax 193 Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) Yeah I mean I don't play games for the highest difficulty possible or anything, just to have fun, being challenging and rage inducing isn't fun to me. I try to keep my playthroughs of games on normal, that way there is a medium. I have recently started replaying KH2 on Proud mode though, I can't say I'm the best at it but hey I feel like I can at least try and do it, it's my favorite game of all time so I still have fun doing it.
