Final Fantasy 7 Development History In Full Detail

Recommended Posts

Great read. They really worshipped Sakaguchi didn't they? Loved the banter between Kitase and Nomura, and he spoke at the end about FF7 remake. He seems very passionate about it and I have full confidence that it will be great, just from reading that excerpt from Nomura.

Another thing to note is how many of the staff WANTED to work on FF7, they put in overtime and treated it as a fun thing to do rather than a chore or a job. Hence why the game is so great.

Never knew that Sakaguchi had that much influence either, if he wasn't at a meeting nothing would get done. The man was respected by EVERYONE, his word was LAW.

Nomura also had large influence contrary to what people think.

Seriously, this article is fantastic. I really want to see one of these for FF9 next. Amazing job Polygon, I'm impressed!!

Well Sakaguchi did DIRECT all FF games from 1 all the way up to 9 except 8 not to mention that the idea of the lifestream was something Sakaguchi came up with when mourning the death of his mother who died during the game's development

Nomura did have an influence but it doesn't compare to Sakaguchi's

I think you need to do a bit of FF homework, Sakaguchi only directed up to FF5, from FF6 onward it was different people.

Ok I meant produce not direct....got things mixed

Yes Sakaguchi directed 1 to 5 and then 6-8 were Yoshinori Kitase (6 was also directed by Hiroyuki Ito). 9 was directed also by Ito.

Sakaguchi executive produced 10 and 10-2.

Yes I think that is pretty clear and quite obvious. I never compared them in the first place.
