Difficulty Throughout the KH Series

Posted

Alright, so i want to discuss the difficulty throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. Such as, what games did you feel were the most difficult? How do you like to play? Casual, hardcore, ect. Personally, i am a hardcore player. I always start my first playthrough on Proud Mode. Although at times it can be a little more challenging, i find it to still be too easy. This is why i absolutely LOVE that with BBS and now DDD they have added the additional Critical Mode after beating the game on Proud. It is definitely a step up, and is exceedingly challenging. More so in DDD (at least for me) I personally found DDD to be one of the more challenging of KH games that i have played. Usually, even when the game mechanics change (such as in CoM and Days) i can usually adapt and pick it up fairly quickly. This was not the case in DDD. I didn't get used to whole swapping around your Dream Eaters for different abilities and such. I found that whole process rather annoying actually. I wish it was more like BBS when you got to permanently keep the abilities after fully leveling it up and then were free to swap out your attacks (or in this case your Dream Eaters) without the ability itself to be bonded with that specific Dream Eater. Another difficulty problem i found with DDD was the whole Flowmotion system. It is a very cool and fun concept, but definitely needed some tweaking. First off, in DDD they had a tendency to just mob a crap ton of enemies at you all at once. While using Flowmotion attacks, enemies can still damage you. So you dive in Flowmotion attacks blazing, while just getting mobbed to death by all other enemies not being hit, so by the time the attack ends, you just get hit before even having the chance to heal up, and die. That was a CONSTANT issue for me (especially while playing on Critical Mode) even to the point where i barely even used Flowmotion at all other than for maneuvering around the maps. So to wrap up, the only comment on the Critical Mode i have is i wish you could choose it without having to go through on Proud Mode first, but i am just happy that they are giving the chance for more seasoned players like myself (and i am sure many of you) to further test our skills. What are your thoughts? Are you looking forward to seeing Critical Mode return for KH3? Will you dare even to try? Imagine having to fight Sephiroth from KH1 on Critical Mode (i dont even want to think about it!!)

I too am a hardcore player granted on a new kh game i work my way up from standard to proud then my fave critical. The fights are tougher but man that rush after you beat a boss thats been tossing you around is worth it. Lv 1 playthroughs i tend to stay away from though

Dream Drop Distance at any difficulty is Hardcore, i still need to beat Proud mode but i got stucked at the first boss. But i´m not the Hardcore Critical Lv. 1 Type of player.

Kh1-quite easy, proud it's hard

Re com-A shitstorm

KH2-easy unless you are on proud or crit

Days-Frustrating

BBS-My nan could beat it

DDD-easy, only hard fights were Young Xehanort and Ansem
