AwesomeKHfan 1,250 Posted December 29, 2016 This may sound weird hell that's why you clicked on this discussion anyway. I was watching GTA V on youtube just now with Trevor Philips and was thinking about all the violence in video games, cursing and everything else related towards it. Games like Hatred sold well because of the violence and GTA sells because well it's a open world drive, maniac, shooter, cursing, sexuel, mature and even more game. I am not saying you can sell a game on incest in games yeah that won't sell that much but I was just wondering you know. I was watching some Assassin's Creed videos about Unity and that game had a relationship between a adopted brother and sister and I saw nobody complain about that (probably because the story was so bad that was way to easy to complain about) so yeah... Is there a game out with the main protagonist loving his brother/sister? I have never seen a game with that before so could somebody tell me a name with a game like that and the reception it got? The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted December 29, 2016 Yeah it's called Kingdom Hearts. I joke, never heard of one and incest is disgusting so hopefully there will never be one. That just seems like shock value and a marketing campaign. 2 AwesomeKHfan and Sendou Aichi reacted to this

I was going to question this topic until I remembered this game. Major spoiler alert, Caim (the "protagonist") is in an incestous relationship with his Sister. One of the branching storylines is his Sister killing herself because the main antagonist reveals the relationship publicly. Plus, there's a hero in the game that ends up becoming a villain after finding out about the incestous relationship. Fun fact, this was the first video game published under the Square Enix brand. This was originally planned as an Enix title before the merger occurred. Edited December 29, 2016 by Guest
TheKingdomkid 1,194 Posted December 29, 2016 I guess if you count the Sword Art Online games

Aside from the first Two Worlds game................I don't see that many incestual romances in video games

Violence-based games tend to sell really well because they're controversial. So many bored moms cried about GTA corrupting their precious little babbies that sudden;y everyone wanted to see what the fuss was about and bought into the franchise. So many gaming news outlets bashed Hatred before it even came out because it was super violent, so everyone bought that to see what was so awful about it. Rinse and repeat for Postal and Mortal Kombat. People screaming about how "morally reprehensible" a thing is always garners attention for that thing, usually more attention than that thing actually deserves. Also I wouldn't say Unity has an incestuous relationship. It's pretty much the exact same relationship as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann (Arno works for Elise's dad since he was orphaned as a child), so unless you consider Pirates of the Caribbean to have incest, there's no issue there. 1 Dio Brando reacted to this

Sorarocks93 678 Posted December 29, 2016 It's delving into taboo themes so the devs would have to be very risky about it tbh. Maybe if they didn't advertise it with that, who knows?
Kinode 3,056 Posted December 29, 2016 Well incest is becoming increasingly popular (for whatever reason) so maybe someday soon? I... hope you're only asking out of curiosity but I probably shouldn't question it
Sorarocks93 678 Posted December 29, 2016 Well incest is becoming increasingly popular (for whatever reason) so maybe someday soon? I... hope you're only asking out of curiosity but I probably shouldn't question it Well first it was interacial relationships, people found those disgusting at some point, same as they did with homosexual relationships a while ago and even now. I don't really care what people "do" as long as they are being careful of the problems that might arise. And there's only really one big problem with incestuous relationships, and if you have a good working brain then you know how to avoid it.
Isaix 924 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) You don't really see taboo subjects like this in video games, stuff like incest, rape, pedophilia, beastiality(does Sonic 06 count ),etc because its disgusting and it would turn off people and games are about having fun while you might be stressed by school or work or whatever and the game would probably not sell well Edited December 29, 2016 by Isaix
Tails 6,690 Posted December 30, 2016 Yeah it's called Kingdom Hearts. I joke, never heard of one and incest is disgusting so hopefully there will never be one. That just seems like shock value and a marketing campaign. Well actually there is the Dead or Alive series where the main protagonist, Kasumi, is in love with her brother despite them being related. Just thought you should know .

The Hatred controversy made me laugh my ass off cuz after the game came out it wasn't even that violent compared to what's already been in store shelves for years heck even the trailers weren't more violent than firetrucking Mortal Kombat X in which Ermac can extract someone's testicles out of their mouth 1 HeyMouseSayCheese reacted to this
