gameaddict12345 25 Posted December 27, 2016 It has come to my attention there SE still hasn't released any info regarding releasing a 2.8 soundtrack. Usually, its announced right around a couple of weeks before launch, and with there only 2 weeks and a day until the Japanese release comes out, there's still no info. Here's my speculation regarding this issue: 1. 3D was made in 2012. To the eyes of Square Enix, 2012 is still fresh, therefore, there's no need for a remaster of the said game tracks. 2. PC chi / Unchained x uses existing tracks from various KH releases, mostly the remastered ones that we got in 1.5 and 2.5. Therefore, it stands to reason that they also won't make new tracks for the movie. 3. If 0.2 literally takes place in the Realm of-- I mean, Dark World, the majority of game will use three tracks: Night in the Dark Dream (RoD idle music), Night of Tragedy (RoD battle music), and Hunter of the Dark (Boss music). However, they might use other darkness-related themes for other parts of the game, but the chances of them making new music for 0.2 is slim. If any, they'll just take other music from the other KH games. If there will be new music for 2.8, expect for it to be like, only a single disc UNLESS they miraculously decided to remaster all 3D music, then we're in good shape. As far as 1.5+2.5 goes, its a fresh remaster of the tracks. They'll only re-release the soundtrack IF AND ONLY IF they'll remaster the tracks for Re:CoM and BbSFM, but the chances of that is damn slim. 2 catmaster0116 and The Transcendent Key reacted to this
catmaster0116 2,676 Posted December 27, 2016 agreed, I was hopeful that Shimomura would whip up a few new field and battle tunes for the dark versions of each Disney worlds in 2.8 FragPass, but seeing as the release date is literally right around the corner and we've not been shown any new music in the trailers and gameplay so far leaves me with doubt. Kingdomhe 1,362 Posted December 27, 2016 Or maybe they will say something at the orchestra.
Kinode 3,056 Posted December 27, 2016 (edited) Yoko confirmed she worked on a lot of new tracks for 2.8 Yeah, there’s a lot of expectations to live up to and think there are people that are hoping for great things and of course Tetsuya Nomura is doing his best as well. So I think I will be writing a lot of music for that (KH3), but before that there’s actually 2.8 which is coming out, and I’ve already been writing new music for that – quite a lot! It has been a while since I’ve done it and so I just hope it will live up to people’s expectations. And yeah, just watch this space! Awesome Sauce 634 Posted December 27, 2016 3. If 0.2 literally takes place in the Realm of-- I mean, Dark World I still don´t know why this is a change... On topic, I do hope we get some new tracks in Back Cover and 0.2, at least some remixes of previous tracks, but I wouldn't mind if there's nothing new. gameaddict12345 25 Posted December 27, 2016 (edited) I still don´t know why this is a change...I have no idea man... when Dark World was first mentioned in the E3 (or was it TGS, not sure) trailer's description on the English Kingdom Hearts channel, people thought that its a mistranslation of Realm of Darkness... turns out that was no typo. Yoko confirmed she worked on a lot of new tracks for 2.8 Was this part of the interview that was made back when she attended E3 or D23? If that's the case, she might be referring to new tracks made for (at most) xBC (since that probably needed new music) and maybe a couple for 0.2. Still though, how come no announcement has been made? KH OSTs has a pattern of releasing alongside the JP release date (I don't know the case for the EN OST versions, I think they're released alongside the EN release dates as well, but people haven't caught wind of it... heck, if you look it up on google, the chances of finding the EN OST for any KH game is slim (you would know if its EN if the atlantica tracks are in english and Utada's songs are the EN counterparts)) Edited December 27, 2016 by gameaddict12345

And yes, this is definintely referring to new tracks and not orchestral remasters. I don't think they need to release an official OST unless they want to, maybe there aren't just quite enough for a full album. All the tracks will be ripped pretty quickly either way if that's what you care about, but if you want to support Yoko officially the best way to do so would probably be buying the game. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted December 28, 2016 Yeah, I get what you mean! Since there's already existing work to draw from, I don't think there'll be new tracks! It would be awesome if there were some new tunes for us to drool at! What Kinode says is true, though! Ms. Shimomura had stated in her interview that she'd worked on 2.8, so odds are we'll hear a few new tracks here and there! And well, for DDD HD, since the soundtrack is already pretty good on it's own, I don't think it'll get remastered. Back Cover and 0.2 could have one or two new tracks! But hey, what do I know? G-SANtos 105 Posted December 29, 2016 As Kinode pointed out, there's new music in 0.2, so I think they'll release it as part of the KHIII soundtrack, as this game was originally intended to be part of KHIII (and in a way it already is, since Nomura keeps saying the story of KHIII already started).
