Stop pooping on Marvel and Star Wars

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I know the word "pooping" doesn't sound mature, but I'm worried about getting marked for profanity. Also, this my personal opinion, so I'm not forcing you like these so they'll be in KH3.

Anyways, I take it you don't want Marvel or Star Wars for a world in KH3 because they're not truly Disney and that they "wouldn't fit." Now, I'm not saying this to be a squeaker, but they actually could work if properly executed. Yes, I know stuff for Marvel like, say, Marvel Zombies has both blood and gore, and that in "The Empire Strikes Back", there was most likely gore in that one scene where the Wampa is eating his dinner, but Disney knows better than to let that slide for a KH game. Heck, they'd probably use one of the animated universes-yes, ANIMATED-for KH3; i.e. Star Wars Rebels, Ultimate Spiderman, Avengers Assemble, you get the idea.

But even if the couldn't, they could still use them in their live-action forms, like they did with Tron and Pirates of the Carribbean (yes, I know the aforementioned properties are MADE by Disney themselves, but still). "Oh, but they still wouldn't fit because they're dark!" SO?! KH3 is aiming for darker themes this time around. That, and Square s actually INTERESTED in using Marvel and Star Wars for KH3; in fact, there was even concepts for a Star Wars world in a cancelled game called "Fragmented Keys", which shows stuff like Tatooine and Clone Troopers, etc. Marvel Comics is already popular, and LucasArts is basically a living cash cow. With the release of Rogue One coming up, it's no surprise it'll be a success (not that I plan on seeing it, of course).

But that's all just my silly opinion, like I said. If you agree or disagree, KINDLY leave it in the comments section.

I agree with you. I'd take a Star Wars world over another Cinderella or Snow white world..........

About Star Wars and Marvel not fitting, it's Kingdom Hearts-nothing fits. The franchise is all about taking chances-it was born from a random chance. I'd rather them try to include Star Wars and actually experiment with ideas rather than not trying at all. KH2 Atlantica was an experiment, Port Royal was an experiment.

They could be safe and just make it optional so it's not detrimental to the main game.

That's fine. As long as it happens at all, there shouldn't be a problem.

Honestly, it's nothing to do with their association before the Disney acquisition, it's to do with the fact that these are franchises and not solely movies. Marvel is an inter-connected complex franchise. Star Wars is an inter-connected complex franchise. Disney Animation and Pixar movies are standalone. They're not some grandiose meta-narrative like Marvel and Star Wars are.

Kingdom Hearts already has a lot of Star Wars influences anyway, and with the complexity of Kingdom Hearts lore, having other franchises weaved into the Xehanort saga would be over-kill. Plus, it detracts from what makes Kingdom Hearts what it is: the animated films that you can visit!

Avengers could work. But the only problem with StarWars is Xemnas.

Aslong if he is in the series it can't rwork good well unless Xemnas cooperate with Darth Vader then mayby.

For me there's just nothing aesthetically pleasing about the locations in the Star wars or Marvel universe where i'll actually be excited to explore in KH.

Yea see this is a big thing for me. I HATED Port Royal because of the way that it looked.  It made me feel uneasy and uncomfortable and I always wanted to just blaze through the world so I could get it over with.

Never.  :P

I just don't think either franchise, which are massive universes, could fit well into an already massive KH universe. Summons or other references are fine, but a Star Wars or Marvel world would inevitably be stripped down and void of what makes those franchises unique and fun.

Really, what about inside the Death Star,it looks great and its one of the most memorable fictional location ever. There could be a boss fight in the Emperor throne room, there are lots of room that could fit well for platforming and flowmotion, they could use that trash compactor room as well and those flat open spaces could work well for combat

I've probably said it a billion time already, but as long as they can create something fun to play,I'm all for it,they can make a Star Wars world or Marvel,Pixar,Final Fantasy or original worlds,it doesn't matter to me.

how about nah, brehs

edit: i feel as though Star Wars and Marvel are both such large franchises that trying to implement them into KH would only produce watered down representations of their respective material. i mean that's already more or less the case with the Disney worlds, sadly.

plus i feel as though Marvel and Star Wars are already very exposed to begin and putting them into KH would just continue that. there are plenty of video games centered around Star Wars and Marvel if all you want is to explore their worlds by means of an interactive medium like a video game.

i'd like for Square to try and make the most out of the Disney material they have before moving on to Star Wars and Marvel, which would most likely overshadow the Disney element even more.

Eh, I heavily disliked Port Royal, and yet people seem to love it. In that sense, Marvel and SW is fine.

And really, if the issue is "live action", do a The Clone Wars/Rebels place instead, like Ilum. Ilum may or may not have become Starkiller Base, and that place looks amazing in The Clone Wars.

Tho everything always looked amazing in The Clone Wars. Coruscant would be another great looking option.

I was skeptical on these two properties being in Kingdom Hearts at first, and this is coming from me, a huge fan of both properties! At the time, I wasn't sure how they'd manage to fit into Kingdom Hearts!

But after a while, the idea has grown on me, and I think it'd be pretty cool if Star Wars and Marvel were integrated at some point into the Kingdom Hearts Universe! It'd definitely make for interesting stories to tell, and possible new gameplay mechanics to surface! :3

It's not that they're truly Disney, it's just that, to me, it just wouldn't feel right. I mean, I just feel weird even thinking about Sora and co in a Marvel or Star Wars world. But honestly, if they did decide to include one or both of them, I would give it a chance.

I should comment, once upon a time many people felt a Final Fantasy and Disney crossover would not feel right and wouldn't work.....yet now look :P

Personally, I don't have much of an opinion on the concept of Marvel or Disney worlds. The main problem would choosing how to use the story, as there are far too many worlds from both franchises to choose from.

I don't see a Death Star world happening, as apart from prolouge worlds or during/after the final battle you generally don't see any worlds being destroyed, which would happen for the Death Star, as you go back and play more gameplay at those worlds.

I feel cameos are more likely. By this I mean you could maybe fight Thor at Olympus Colluseum or meet some Jedi or Sith at Radiant Gardens.

Summons, keyblades and gummi ships could also be possible.

My big thing is how do you expect classic Disney films and even just brand new ones to constantly hold up KH as a series eventually and I hate to say it Square is gonna have to broaden their horizons and try and experiment with different things.

People have already shared their distaste that were going back to Olympus even with the new environment because it's almost been in every single KH game.

Aplanatic? God no they've tried twice to make it work and both accounts were disasters

Port Royal was fine the acting is what was cringy more than anything.

I'm fine if Star Wars or Marvel make an appearance people shouldn't just say No until they taste it first.

The problem I have isn't because I don't want more stuff to be included in the franchise, it's because it wouldn't feel right.

Kingdom Hearts is essentially a fairy tale that's built on the mystique and wonder that is commonplace in both the usual trappings of both Squeenix and Disney. The Disney properties used in KH are about talking animals, magic spells, princesses, kings, fairies, pirates, and all that other stuff that you expect from the animated Disney canon. The KH series has that and more and is built upon that spectacle as a story about fantasy and magical wonder.

You throw in something obviously not Disney, as in not Disney-made and doesn't have that same charm, like Marvel superheroes or Jedi and you ruin that dynamic. It becomes less of a magical world and instead just an excuse to shove more IPs into the franchise without rhyme or reason. Marvel superheroes aren't "Disney magic", they're written by people who worked on Buffy the f*cking Vampire Slayer. Star Wars is actually a little closer to mystique, but it's still a way different world than KH, and not to mention an expansive world with its own lore and settings that would just feel awkward if it was jutted into KH on a whim.

Like, I can take Big Hero 6 being confirmed for a world in KH3. Why? Not just because it's more of an official Disney product than the other two, but because I've seen the movie and I know that it carries the spirit of Disney more closely to the other properties already used in the franchise.
