WakingDawn96 1,166 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) I know a lot of people don't like the Cars series, but Cars is what my (now deceased) seven year cousin was into. For that reason alone, this movie series holds a special place in my heart, and I even saw the second movie with my cousin back when it came out to theaters. So this movie, its sad that my cousin will never see it in person, but I made a promise that I would see this thing for the both of us and so I will honor that by seeing this movie when it comes out. I just hope that they aren't actually going to injure badly or kill Lightning like they are in this trailer, because that would just be too much for me to handle. Firaga 5,947 Posted November 21, 2016 (edited) Well, that's one way to overdramatize/falsely advertise a film. For those who don't know what I mean: I watched the trailer from the official Disney/Pixar YouTube channel and they literally give away the entire plot in the description (proving why YouTube descriptions are your friends). Basically: McQueen is now old and irrelevant apparently (even though he's only been at this for what, a few years? This is also proving that the theme of the first movie was pointless and that I really shouldn't remember all of this stuff in the first place, but unfortunately I do) so he teams up with a hot young new female technician to make a comeback and yadda yadda yadda, it's by-the-numbers shit we've seen before. I gotta ask at this point: why... does this franchise exist? I am generally curious as to why that is. Can John Lasseter please just give his car fetish a rest so we can get Incredibles 2 out faster? Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted November 21, 2016 I gotta ask at this point: why... does this franchise exist? I am generally curious as to why that is. Can John Lasseter please just give his car fetish a rest so we can get Incredibles 2 out faster? it's all about that money, sonny! i believe in terms of merchandise it's one of Pixar's biggest and most profitable franchises, so Disney wants that money to keep on rolling in, hence why we're getting two sequels to a movie that was (from what i gathered) generally considered "meh." and idk what this trailer is trying to do. i'm not going to get emotionally attached to these walking advertisements. especially after that weird spy movie starring Larry the Cable Guy. 1 Firaga reacted to this
Firaga 5,947 Posted November 21, 2016 it's all about that money, sonny! I didn't mean profits, I was mostly asking from the point of view from someone who wants to have faith in the rationality of humankind. Of course, given that this movie even exists, I think the answer should be obvious.
RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted November 21, 2016 I honestly can't remember the plot of cars 1 or cars 2. I don't know if this is really the plot. But these are just the film synopsis of the first and second movie. 1st: While traveling to California to race against The King (Richard Petty) and Chick Hicks (Michael Keaton) for the Piston Cup Championship, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) becomes lost after falling out of his trailer in a run down town called Radiator Springs. While there he slowly befriends the town's odd residents, including Sally (Bonnie Hunt), Doc Hudson (Paul Newman) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). When it comes time for him to leave to championship is no longer his top priority. 2nd: Racecar Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and his tow-truck buddy, Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), have had their share of adventures together but nothing like what they experience when they head overseas for the first-ever World Grand Prix. While Lightning has his eye on the road to the championship, Mater takes a detour to international espionage when he meets British master spy Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) and stunning spy-in-training Holley Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer). For some reason this is trending on twitter. It was trending all over Disney related pages.

You have my sympathies. I'm actually excited about this movie myself, I've always enjoyed the Cars movies (although I'll admit the second one wasn't too good) despite what other people say about them. I never understood the hate and I don't think I ever will, especially when at the end of the day what really matters is if kids like your cousin loved it, and why they loved it. Cynical adults and critics can pick apart animated movies all they want, but as long as it still made a kid's day in the end, I think that's all that matters. 4 The 13th Kenpachi, WakingDawn96, Movies798 and 1 other reacted to this
Movies798 1,358 Posted November 22, 2016 (edited) From the looks of this Cars 3 is going back to it's roots like the first movie. Which is great because I like the first Cars movie, I didn't even care about the second movie because it was too much Mater, lacked the heart and charm from the first film, and not focusing on the real main character Lightning McQueen. I'll go see this because the third films premise sounds really interesting. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted November 22, 2016 Hmm, well that's one way to promote a film! It seems the humans over at Pixar want to paint a dark picture on their canvas! Very interesting... To be honest, I've only watched the first Cars. It's not one of my favorite films, but hey, I remember it fondly! I never saw the second one, though! But hey, I might just give it a watch before seeing the third one! It might end up being interesting! You humans have such interesting minds...creating things like this...hmmm... I know a lot of people don't like the Cars series, but Cars is what my (now deceased) seven year cousin was into. Well Roger, I hope that when the film comes out, you'll be able to enjoy it for both yourself and your late cousin! My hopes go to you, buddy! 1 RikuFangirl2008 reacted to this

I know myself how it feels like to be very attached to someone you lost who you shared a deep connection with. That's how I watched these movies with my father growing up. We loved watching both movies and really had a connection with the movies characters. And I really don't like the hatred that the Cars franchise have received. I'm just looking forward to the day when the movie comes out and all nitpicking critics will be shushed and regret their arguments for doubting Pixar. This is like Pixar saying "Oh so you think we can't make you feel for a car well then here you go" Ive gotta admit when I saw the teaser I jumped at the scene where he crashed. I just couldn't believe Pixar would be so bold handling the more emotional story that's to come for the film. But at the same time as it was heart wrenching to see McQueen fly into the smokey air it was also interesting knowing that this one will take McQueen's character through new stages of character development and how is dealing with Hudson's legacy.
