"Alright, we're here."

 

Trey pulled into the S.W.O.R.D. headquarters' parking space. The building was a colossal wrap of metal pipes around a glass tower. Subsections of the tower twisted along S.W.O.R.D.'s main tower, wrapping into four different buildings in a circular layout. A huge sword emblem scaled the top of the tower, and also Greenery lined the exterior of the building - it was ironically reminiscent of a paradise, despite the work the organization itself employed.

 

Seth threw his head back at the scenery, but although he said nothing, Lisse took the words out of his mouth.

 

"This. Is. AWESOME!" Lisse exclaimed, almost flying out of her seat and on Seth's lap. "Daddy! Show me and Uncle around!"

 

Seth, Lisse, and Trey pulled out of the car they drove in, as Trey directed the two. "You're gonna meet a couple others should soon. C'mon, this way."

Lisse held Seth's hand, walking in awe of the different designs outlined around the rooms of the buildings.  Trey stopped towards the end of the hall, and turned to Seth. "They should be coming in a few. I'm gonna take Lisse to the house, and probably order some things. Some guy named Jynn should be coming" Trey hit Seth on the arm, then said "Alright man, get some food on those skinny ass bones and take care. Let's go, Lisse."

 

Seth crouched down and hugged Lisse, who threw his arms around him. "Bye, Uncle Seth!" she said, starting to walk off with her father.

 

"Take care," Seth called to them. 

 

Seth leaned against the wall, adjusting his ear stud and crossing his arms as he waited for Jynn.

Jynn takes a narrow, dirt road behind the facility. The road was accompanied by a large horse pasture with a sign at the entrance that read: Test horses. Do not feed.

S.W.O.R.D is also involved with genetic research. They use horses as test subjects because they are durable and they are able to survive all of S.W.O.R.D's experiments, unlike the traditional lab rats.

Jynn then enters the facility and takes a shortcut to the entrance. As he reaches the parking lot, he notices a man (Seth) leaning against the wall Jynn looks to Nurda. "I think that's another one of the recruits." He then parks the car and gets out. "Well, we're here." He then walks up to Seth with a friendly attitude. "Hello, are you one of the recruits?"

Seth pushed away from the wall, as a boy just about his age approached him.

 

He responded to Jynn's question, simply saying "Yeah, I'm looking to sign up. You must be Jynn, right?" Seth looked towards the car, and said "Ah, looks like I have company." Pointing towards the car, with a grin, Seth asked "Those your recruits, too?"

Grim couldn't help but to slightly pout at the sight of the horses, knowing very well what they were being used for. Yet life like that went on. For in order to advance, sacrifices needed to be made. Once the car stopped, Grim unbuckled his seat belt and stepped out, stretching slightly as he glanced up at the facility. A young man by the name of Seth was already there waiting for them, a recruit himself. "We're all recruits, it seems." Grim said cheerfully before lowering his gaze to the floor. The lack of eyes made eye contact difficult...because usually the other person screamed and threw something at him. Last time it happened it was a shoe. A stinky shoe, at that. Not very nice. "Nice to meet you, Seth. I speculate Lisse is well." Grim said before taking a pause, almost as if to think, before nodding softly. "She is. Rambunctious as ever."

"Ha ha, you got that right! She's with her dad now - those two get up to so much trouble." Seth exclaimed, before what Grim said actually sinked in.... He raised his brow more curiously than suspiciously at the girl. "Hey, wait a sec.. Did I mention my name? How do you know about Lisse?"

 

Whoever the guy was, he seemed like he was pretty timid. His hood cast over his head made it hard for Seth to get a picture of his face.

Nurda noticed the horses who were basically the lab rats of this facility. Nurda didn't like this about this place because she comes from a family of lions and who believe in the circle of life, so this wasn't really what the circle meant, but she knew she couldn't stop it from happening, so she just learned to deal with it. She then walked up to the entrance of the facility and noticed Seth. Seth was soon talking to Grim, so when Seth asked how Grim knew who he was, Nurda chimed in by saying, "Seth, meet the major killer himself, this is Grim, as in the Grim Reaper, as in the person who takes souls, even though he won't admit that he gets a kick out of it!" Nurda said as even though Jynn was willing to work with Grim, Nurda still wasn't going to talk nicely to the killer.

Seth threw his head back in a laughter he hadn't had in awhile. The Grim Reaper was a funny one - Seth didn't really believe in folklore and all that. But he had an idea of Grim from stories as a kid.This guy seemed pretty damn shy to be him. Wasn't a bad thing at all but... if he really was, that'd make the fact that he knew the names of Seth and Lisse more clear.

 

 

Turning to the girl, Seth shot back "Ah, and the major comedian herself," Seth said, waving in a "Welcome!" motion, as if he were the host of a comedy show. "Got a name?" He flicked his finger towards Nurda. It was a first that he'd seen someone with live, moving cat ears and a tail. She made the Grim Reaper seem much less farfetched than he himself did.

Nurda looked at Seth. "My name is Nurda, daughter of Kovu and Kiara of the Pride Lands, who happen to be lions, that why I have the ability to become a lion, and that's why I have the ears and the tail, however the story of how I am a human is a long story I don't feel like saying. Also, I was one of the earlier recruits here, so I am higher ranked than any of you, except for Jynn." Nurda said as she explained herself so the group could understand her story more clearly. "And this is too the killer of all..." Nurda whispered in Seth's ears.

Seth laughed again at Nurda, keeling over his knees and almost crying. "Oh jeez, ya got me there! If we're new recruits, of course you'd be higher ranked than us!" Seth couldn't help but grin ridiculously. "Nurda, right?" Seth committed that name to memory. She definitely did have the pride of a lion, yet she was feisty. She seemed not to like Grim much at all... Seth found it understandable, in a way. Supposedly, from what he remembered, the Grim Reaper would be a creepy demon who'd steal souls with his ghastly, skeleton-like face and gleaning red eyes, and bring them to the underworld.

 

Looking to Jynn, Nurda, and Grim, Seth asked "So.... about the new recruits... is it only me and him?"

"This building is not that extravagant." Aya said almost monotonously. 

Veran helped Aya out of the vehicle and they caught up with the group easily.

"We are here." Aya called to the group.

"I am not sure how your social rankings are placed, Nurda, but I am sure that you are not the highest of class here right now. That would be Aya..." Veran's eyes darkened and he smirked ever so slightly, "Or me depending on how you put it...". 

Aya was staring at the horses. 

"Pathetic. It's better than trafficking people though." she kind of mumbled that to herself.

Then turning back to the group. 

"Aya Everus and butler Veran Sterben. Nice to meet you, Seth. That was your name am I not correct?" Aya curtsied to him, looking back at him.

Seth smirked, and bowed back to Aya. "Greetings! That's what they call me." He winked at her, in almost the blink of an eye, and smiled to her. Seth turned to and saluted to the man with Aya, Veran as well, casually saying "Ayy" to the uptight-seeming butler. Aya and Veran had an aura to themselves that he couldn't quite place a finger on... He could already tell at a glance the cool aura of Veran seemed to clash with the more soft spoken Aya. Yet, they interested him no less than the rest of the recruits.

 

All the new recruits seemed pretty unique to say the least.

"This must be everyone" Seth stated, taking one more glance towards the group. "Seth Astreal, for the guys and ladies who didn't catch my last name."

"Wait!" a voice came out of nowhere when suddenly, Luke came running up to the group. He seemed to use a little too much of his cat speed to get to the facility that he was out of breath. But suddenly, he regained his cool, "The name is Luke, I came here for one purpose, and that is to protect people. I'm not used to being around people for too long any longer, so I do have some limits that don't need to be broken here." Luke said as he then noticed Nurda, who noticed him. "Luke? Gosh, I never thought I'd run into you again, not after what happened with, well you know." Nurda said as apparently her and Luke have a backstory together. Luke scratched his head gently, "Yeah, I just haven't gotten back on my feet yet. But I shall protect those who need help, that is something that I made a promise about," Luke said as he then faced the rest of the group, but suddenly he felt strange looking at Grim, as he didn't realize who it was as of yet.

Jynn nods to Seth. "Yes sir. I am him." All of the horses watch the interaction inside their stalls. However, upon the sight of Jynn and Nurda, one starts to try to figure out how to open the door. Jynn then glances back to the others. "Yes, we have some more recruits. Nurda, Aya, Veran, and Grim." He then takes a step back and watches as everyone greets each other. But unfortunately, a small argument over who's better than who erupts, with Veran supporting himself and Aya, and Nurda supporting herself and Jynn. He then breaks up the fight. "Guys, guys. C'mon, let's not have an argument alright?" Seth then asks if he and Grim are the newest recruits, to which Jynn nods. Then a random voice shouts out. It was Luke, a long time friend of Nurda, who is the final recruit. Finally, the horse opened the stall door and begins galloping to Jynn and Nurda. It was Jynn's black and white stallion, Malestrome (or "Mel" for short. He will play a small role in the RP as a supporting character, similar to Grim's three hell hounds.). Jynn then face palms himself. "Why haven't they fixed his door?" The giant equine then halts in front of Jynn.

Nurda was taken by surprised by the horse getting out. "Geez, I thought I made it clear, Joshua was supposed to have that thing fixed while we were gone. That good for nothing!" Nurda said as she clearly told someone named Joshua to fix that stall while Jynn and herself were out getting the new recruits. Nurda then looked at the group, hoping no one got too scared, the last thing she needed was Grim taking a soul here from freight. Luke looked at Jynn, and to the horse, "So, this is your horse, I'd take it? Why would he even try to get out in the first place?" Luke asked Jynn.

Grim pouted, looking over at Nurda as she had yet to gain his trust. Not that he expected her to do so. His reputation on the mortal world had completely gotten out of hand. "I'll earn your trust one day, Nurda. But you are smart to be wary of potential enemies." Grim complimented with a small smile. He looked over at Veran and chuckled a bit. "Well, considering its life and death, I would be in charge in the end, wouldn't I?" Grim joked, chiming in with the idea of who would be outranked by who. He moved his hand over the air in front of him, summoning his scythe back into his hand. It was odd to not have it. It made him feel more whole, and it alone had many purposes. He had had it since he was born...however long ago that was. His attention was immediately taken away by the horse, smiling brightly as he walked closer. "So cute! Hello little guy~ Though you aren't so little are you?" Grim cooed, reaching his hand out to pet the horse gently if it would allow him. Oh how he was a sucker for cute things. Then again, he found most things cute.

Mel was a little reluctant to let Grim pet him. But after examining him, the horse lets Grim pet him. Jynn interjects. "Mel is the only horse we don't test. He was genetically modified when he was still a cell. He is built for absurd strength, human level intelligence, and we even put a little bit of bird DNA in as well for the heck of it. Show them, Mel." The equine then summons large white wings, and spreads them out. After a few minutes of Mel showing off, Jynn then interrupts. "Alright you silly old thing, back to your stall." He then leads the horse back to the stall and closes the door tight. "You stay in there or the pasture, alright?" The horse nods. Jynn then turns back to everyone. "I am terribly sorry about that everyone. He gets excited whenever I return."

Nurda rolled her eyes, "He is your pet after all, it just means he cares about you. But honestly, someone should look into repairing that fence soon." Nurda said as she then looked at the group and back at Jynn, "So, should we now try to get on with everything we need to do? Cause we are burning daylight hours." Nurda said as she tried to get this show on the road.

 

Luke, however, finally realized who Grim was, and it was taking everything he had to not get angry in front of all of these people. If it weren't for Grim and a few other things, Luke's true love would still be alive, which hurts Luke to even be around Grim or death itself.

Grim waved sheepishly as Mel walked back to his place. It didn't take long, nor for him to even turn to realize that a new pair of eyes were staring at him like daggers, burning with negative emotions, much darker than just Nurda's hesitation of trust. Grim would have not have it any other way, but he would not acknowledge it either. If he pressed further upon it, it would end up in a messy, messy argument. He would wait for Luke to make the first move of it. Then he would act. Mortals were interesting beings, after all. Grim held his scythe closer, nodding at Jynn with a smile. "Like Nurda said, the quicker we get this going, the quicker we can work out a plan to stop this disaster before it begins. Please, do lead the way." Grim asked with a soft bow of the head, looking at Aya and smiling at her as well. "Ladies first."

Genetic engineering? Sounded like what Seth does... only he never really have any "animals" to test... Every genetic modification that he's ever done has been on himself. Seth actually found it primitive to work on animals; scientific research was always done best hands-on, literally. He was indeed fascinated by purposeful gene splicing, however. The possibilities were endless...

 

He couldn't lie though - that crap hurt. Experimentation and research were one thing; implementation was another. Seth was fascinated by the pure majesty of Mel, a creature whose natural form was intertwined with the power that science possessed - it was a real feast for such a nerd as Seth. His jaw seemed to nearly hit the floor. Was there technology here he could keep to himself?

 

Mel surely drew Seth's attention, but when he had to go, he had to. Jynn led the horse again to the stall.

 

Still... Seth couldn't help but think of home, the countless days he spent holed in the lab invigorated him.

 

Both Grim and Nurda suggested going inside and continuing the recruits' orientation. Seth, laid back, but curious, simply watched Aya as Grim beckoned her forth.

Aya entered as Grim beckoned her to, the building inside was just as extravagant as it was on the outside. Veran followed close behind her. A part of Veran almost felt bad for Grim. He was a being of death that only wanted to help...but people were avoiding him the best they could. It was only a very, very small part of him that felt bad for the reaper though. Reapers and demons...were not the best of friends. Aya was not bothered by the presence of Grim. Death was death. It happened for a reason. Death took her father by means she doesn't know, and death took her mother by winter sickness. In the end, death would take Aya. It would come sooner than other people's deaths, but with Veran at her side, she was kind of cursed to death anyways. Veran may never see the darkness of death unless something actually manages to kill him! Which actually a good number of things have almost killed him before, it's almost comical in Aya's eyes. But the main situation now was something that could kill everyone here. Veran and Aya could be killed by this threat, and she would leave behind all that is precious to her. She would leave behind him. Aya glanced down at the ring upon her finger for a small second. Veran and Aya had to get this done together with the rest of the group. For the worlds sake...and for his sake.

"Alright. Now that everyone is acquainted with one another, we should head inside and talk to the director. He will get us started." Jynn then begins walking to a large door with the sword emblem holding it shut. A small panel on the side of the door opens. Jynn leans his head to the panel and holds his eye open while it is being scanned. Then the ground shakes, and the sword then slowly turns sideways, with the doors opening. Jynn then faces the group. "Shall we?"

Grim awed at the security of it all. So complicated, yet also very fancy. Especially with the sword thing on the entrance. "Amazing. To see that humanity has developed such technology. I should keep up with your creations more often." Grim admitted, smiling softly as he didn't hesitate to walk in, unafraid of what could possible come next. Not that he had any reason to be. "How is it that you call it, a retinal scan? Truly a very secure system. Oh, would we need to have one of those too, though? I mean, I wouldn't mind, but I kind of lack eyes if it's a requirement." Grim said, now sounding much like a worrybout that he wouldn't be able to take part of such activity if a retinal scan was required. In the body of a young man, the Grim Reaper, as scary as his stories and powers were, acting as he looked. A young man. Shy, reserved, but loving and excited of everything he found anew. "Ah, sorry, I keep blabbling on and about, don't I? I apologize. I do get pretty chatty when I'm excited. Please stop me if I start to annoy you." Grim said cheerfully, though he kept his gaze on the floor most of the time to avoid eye contact, and barely paid attention to where he walked.

Seth crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, grinning at the uncharacteristically timid Grim. For such a guy who dealt with some pretty dark crap, he seemed so... human.

 

Funny thing was, he seemed really into the technology in S.W.O.R.D. Maybe Seth would grab some of his tinkerings to show to Grim - they used far more intelligent systems. than S.W.O.R.D. had. Maybe he'd even use S.W.O.R.D.'s lab to help develop the Headquarters' technology to more "suitable" standards.

 

Despite how unimpressive Seth felt the Headquarters' technology was, inside and out, he couldn't help but admire how it all came together fluidly and comfortably. He'd always take tips for design - and cooking - and was very open to trying something completely new. The works-in-progress back in Trey's car would probably benefit from this... although Seth wished he could take his whole shop with him.

 

Seth followed the group, the thoughts shuffling through his mind a bit at a time.

As Jynn proceeds through the door, he hears Grim's questions. "Yes, it is very secure this way. The only way in is if you have the eyes of me, employees, or the director. The person's eye has to be alive and calm. So if an employee is being forced to use his/her eye, the door won't open, due to their distress. And you guys won't need to be scanned." He walks down the hallway with everyone following. Then Grim reminds Jynn to try to keep him under control if he babbles too much. Jynn laughs. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind. You aren't being annoying." He then walks up to another door with a panel on the side. After counting all the recruits, he then begins typing on the panel, with a holographic map of cards appearing after a few keystrokes. "You guys are, however, required to carry key cards." He then picks out his own and types in a password. "I'll give you guys one under my name." Then two knobs jet out from the top of the panel and emit lasers which begin to create five cards (since Nurda already should have one) from seemingly out of thin air. Jynn takes them once they are completed and slides his own card in a slot in the panel, thus opening the door. He hands out the five cards.

Seth took the holographic card that Jynn handed out, then slid it in his pocket.

 

"The director... what kind of person is he?" Seth's wondering eyes looked to Jynn. "And which way are we headed to him?"
