Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue rating summary by ESRB has been published

Recommended Posts

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has updated their rating summary of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, which had been previously rated as E10+ by the board for fantasy violence and mild language. Their rating summary is as follows:

This is a compilation of action role-playing games in which players assume the roles of young warriors traveling through fantastical worlds to stop the spread of darkness. Players use giant key-shaped swords and magic attacks to defeat Dream Eaters, classic Disney villains, and other creatures (e.g., dragons, imps, slimes) in melee-style combat. Battles are accompanied by light effects, cries of pain, and impact sounds; enemies disappear into colorful orbs and particles when defeated. A handful of sequences allow players to throw projectiles at other characters from a first-person perspective. Some cutscenes depict human characters struck and/or wounded by magical swords and explosions. The word “hell” appears in the dialogue.

This ESRB rating of E10+ is similar to that of other games except for Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, which were rated E.

The rating for Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance, in comparison, lacks mentions of mild language, and in contrast to Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, the rating for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue does not include "mild suggestive themes."

At what point would Hell be said :O

Don't think i've heard it in a KH game before xD

It was on Riku's side of the Grid.

Axel says it in the EN GBA version of Chain of Memories, but I don't know what the JP equivalent line would be because I'm having trouble finding gameplay of that version...

Maleficent says hell in Birth By Sleep right before fighting Aqua.

Tbh, they could do with some swearing in the games, i think that would be entertaining.

And run the risk of sounding stupid in an attempt to sound "mature"? The KH series simply doesn't have the kind of atmosphere that would make such a thing work.

Maleficent challenged Aqua by saying "See for yourself all the powers of Hell!"

In this case it's likely Frollo as he's a religious zealot.

It's important to note that in both of these contexts, "Hell" is used as a proper noun, not an explative.

I'm pretty sure that slimes weren't in the series before. They must be talking shotlocks when they say throwing projectiles in a first-person perspective.

They wouldn't know what the creatures actually are/are called. With dream eaters they are told
