Ventuslover123 24 Posted October 24, 2016 During KH1, Kairi is seen on the island on Destiny Islands with Sora and Riku very late, then she's still there at night when her heart gets taken. Kingdom Hearts 2, she is seen at the border of the islands with Selphie still it looked like it was getting dark, then she suddenly runs away to find Sora and Rik for quite some time. Now since KH3 is coming up, she will be training with Yen Sid in a different world. would her adopted parents know or worry about her? could Yen Sid perform a "forget" spell on them like what Hermione did in HP? 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

Leamax 746 Posted October 24, 2016 We don't know if Kairi had parents since if she did, then they would be back at Radiant Garden. The only adult we saw with Kairi was her Grandmother, so maybe her parents are dead and her Grandmother was her guardian. On the Destiny Islands, she was staying with the Mayor, so the Mayor would be her 'current' guardian.
Felixx 6,646 Posted October 24, 2016 Nomura does not understand this term we call "logic" and thus he created a universe where it doesn't exist. That's why he created the Nomura-logic. With it EVERYTHING makes sense Anyway parents don't play any role in KH, for reasons. Best to just forget about them. 2 Mystics Apprentice and Sendou Aichi reacted to this
Sendou Aichi 2,356 Posted October 24, 2016 How often in JRPGs do we see the parents of the protagonist that actually care for more than 5 minutes anyway? 2 The 13th Kenpachi and Aqua7KH reacted to this

HeartlessAqua 38 Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) Parents don't exist in the world of Kingdom Hearts. They're myths and legends like Nessie and Sasquatch. Edited October 24, 2016 by HeartlessAqua

The only adult we saw with Kairi was her Grandmother, so maybe her parents are dead and her Grandmother was her guardian. On the Destiny Islands, she was staying with the Mayor, so the Mayor would be her 'current' guardian. That would be her biological parents. When Kairi came to the islands she was adopted by the mayor. However, like everyone has stated the mayor (& maybe his spouse if he's married) care about Kairi just as much as Sora's parents care about him. Movies798 1,358 Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) I think it's pretty obvious that most parents in the Kingdom Hearts universe are all imagination. While Kairi's grandmother is the only parent in the universe. Mothers, fathers, aunts, cousins, nieces, and sisters are all imagination or don't exist. While uncles, brothers, nephews, grandmothers, and maybe grandparents exist in the Kingdom Hearts universes. Edit: Crap I forgot about The Evil Queen and Lady Tremaine. Okay so stepmothers and stepdaughters do exist in the KH universe. While sons and stepsons don't exist either right now. As of right now Kingdom Hearts 3 is still a mystery, so yeah Max doesn't exist yet. While Donald on the other hand has his family. Hoshiko Hikari 300 Posted October 24, 2016 Regarding your statement about Kairi in KH1, it's hinted that Kairi went home to the mainland with Sora and Riku but then came back again that night before Sora got there as when Sora arrived at the island he was surprised to see Riku and Kairi's boats already tied up at the pier. She and Riku probably missed their dinners as well! Also, in defence of Sora, Riku and Kairi's parents, how do we know that they haven't been worrying about their children and looking for them? They aren't able to travel to different worlds so they would have had no way of finding their children. And Sora, Riku and Kairi haven't shown any sign of caring about the welfare of their parents either.
Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted October 24, 2016 (edited) You gotta think about how much time has passed. It's only been a few moths since the end of KH2 of at most. Plus, look at Pokemon, Ash is 10 and as long as he calls once a season, his mother is fine with him going around the world capturing and battling dangerous wold animals. In general parents in anime and manga seem much more comfortable with their children being gone for long streches of time than usual. This may or may not be a reflection if the Japanese style of child rearing, maybe kids over there are more responsible, I don't know, but it's very uncommon to see a parent worried about their child's safty in anime. The typically have so much faith that their children will be fine it borders on denial. If they ever worry about anything it's their kids grades. Edited October 24, 2016 by Isamu Kuno
Isaix 924 Posted October 24, 2016 Since KH1 they makes all those speeches about the importance of friendship, but never about family.Sora's mom could have been in danger or killed when Destiny Island was taken by the darkness in KH1 but all he worries about is Riku and Kairi,if my hometown was destroyed friends wouldn't be the only thing I worry about. Firaga 5,947 Posted October 25, 2016 (edited) Well A) she doesn't have parents, she's adopted by the mayor of Destiny Islands and B) I'm sure he probably care, we just don't see it on screen because we're too busy, you know, playing a God damn video game. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted October 25, 2016 Ya know, given the fact that we've never seen any of the main characters' parents, I just don't know! I don't think they're even aware of what's going on!
Marionetta 14 Posted October 31, 2016 (edited) Nah. The parents are apparently okay with letting their children play unsupervised on an uninhabited island, so of course they wouldn't give a damn about them going off to parts unknown. Also: If Max is in KH3, I demand an optional skateboarding minigame. Edited October 31, 2016 by Marionetta
