Jake 1,488 Posted October 12, 2016 During an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Kingdom Hearts series has revealed that the cover artwork for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, 2.5 ReMIX, & HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue all connect together as a hidden message for Kingdom Hearts III. Tetsuya Nomura says that the 3 pieces of artwork start with Sora sitting, then standing, and finally walking. There is also a flow of time with the 3 pieces of artwork, where 1.5 is sunset becoming night, 2.5 is in the middle of the night, & 2.8 is night breaking into dawn. All of this connects to a hidden message for Kingdom Hearts III. You can read Nomura's answer below, thanks to Catherine Mueller (nichiei.translations@gmail.com) for the translations. --You also revealed a gorgeous package art. Nomura: There are actually two secrets about the illustrations from [KH1.5] until [KH2.8]. Extremely attentive KH fans might have already discovered them, but one is that Sora's movements change from sitting, to standing, to walking. One more is that when you line up the three illustrations, you'll notice that they show the flow of time with changes in the sky. [KH1.5] is sunset becoming night, [KH2.5] is the middle of the night, and [KH2.8] is night breaking into dawn. Those three illustrations have a message regarding the final chapter, [KHIII]. --So you planned all this from the time of [KH1.5]'s release, then? Nomura: We worried a long time about the package art for [KH2.5], and we worked on trying to connect the three productions in a continual manner. It seems like there were a lot of people who figured out Sora's movements, but there were not very many people who noticed the connection between the skies. There are two meanings to “sora” (I.E. one being the protagonist's name, and the other meaning “sky”). While it is uncertain what this message is, this is something for fans to think about as we wait for the release of Kingdom Hearts III. What do you think this hidden message could be? Lupe Generious 9 Posted October 12, 2016 So on the KH3 Cover Sora will glide while Daybreak / Midday? And Daybreak also means everyone will be awake and there is Multiplayer? Because the Cover for KHUX is showing daybreak too? http://www.khplanet.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/KH-UX-Wallpaper-02-Android-1920-x-1200.jpg 4 KHlover8, Joey_XIII, King_Graham and 1 other reacted to this
WakelessDream 2,278 Posted October 12, 2016 Leave it to Nomura to put a hidden message in the cover arts. I would have never guessed it, but that's such a Nomura thing to do. I don't have theories myself on what it could be at the moment, but it'll be interesting to see what people come up with haha.
Awesome Sauce 634 Posted October 12, 2016 So KH3's artwork will have Sora either jumping or running with Donald and Goofy and maybe the 7 guardians of light at his side during the day? Just guessing.
xXMikey1stXx 206 Posted October 12, 2016 wait that means the cover would be day, or day & night.
RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted October 12, 2016 (edited) To Sora's movements: Could it be a sign of his maturity, towards Kingdom Hearts 3? His growth? To the skies: 1. (Daylight to Night, Middle of the Night, Nighttime to Daybreak): Could this mean the very beginning of the journey, to a dark development of a crucial moment that will soon unfold, to very dawn of war? 2. Things may seem calm in one's eyes but something bad is about to happen. 3. Xehanort's influence of "time"? 4. Those answers to those questions back in the first game (Final Mix too). (I don't even know why that popped in my head.....) That's so far what I have. KairiKeybasH 851 Posted October 12, 2016 Also Sora sitting in the throne, then he stands and the last one he walks. Hmmm it´s a neat little connection. But finding the meaning is hard.
Master Eraqus 1,340 Posted October 12, 2016 (edited) Here's what I think Sora's stances mean: In 1.5, this is the start of a long journey ahead of us. So, this is the start of the story and we take things slow (compared with everything else). In 2.5, he's standing up as we learn more about the story forward and backwards. Sora wakes up with newfound strength, the end for the series becomes realised and begins to draw near with Re:Coded and we learn of the story behind these stories with the rising and impending darkness that is Xehanort. In 2.8, he's walking with these three games becoming the build-up towards the final battle; by getting ready. In KH3, I now expect him to be running in the cover. My thoughts on the sky changes: So, I think it's safe to assume that KH3's cover will have a morning sky. This might symbolise a "ray of hope", so to speak. An indication of the game finally arriving. Komali 594 Posted October 12, 2016 You can also see it like this: 1.5 Chess board from the KH3 trailer 2.5 Place of the upcoming Keyblade War 2.8 The reason for the Keyblade War: The light of Kingdom Hearts (look at how the logo is placed and which part of the cover is white) The cover of KH3 will have a hidden end game message. Maybe it's all keyblade wielders sitting together and having a happy ending (*hust* emotional scene from D23 *hust*).
Kaweebo 3,617 Posted October 12, 2016 I'm assuming, then, that KHIII will be full-on daytime. 1.5 is how things go from bad to worse (Ansem to Organization XIII) 2.5 is about the worst of it, (Organization XIII and Master Xehanort defeating the BBS trio) 2.8 is about how that now we've gotten past the worst, it's time to inch our way back upwards (more Keyblade wielders coming around, realizing we need to save T/A/V, Sora slowly coming out of his dumb period, etc.) and then KHIII will be about how we've finally crawled out of the hole since we'll be defeating Xehanort for good in that game. Hopefully. 4 The 13th Kenpachi, The Transcendent Key, Moochieh32 and 1 other reacted to this
KH4Real 749 Posted October 12, 2016 Well I think the cover will shown the fights between the light and darkness. The sky will have a bright sun.
saintsghost 40 Posted October 12, 2016 seems to me it might all be the same sky in the background
Hoshiko Hikari 300 Posted October 12, 2016 As everyone's said, it's pretty obvious that the KHIII cover art will be daytime. For me personally I believe the symbolism behind it is that in KHIII the 'true light' that Kairi's grandmother talks about will return, causing the worlds to become connected once more and bathed in light as in ancient times. Of course this will also mean that Xehanort, a symbol of darkness, will be defeated and all the protagonists of the series being saved and reunited which also makes daylight a very appropriate theme for the game. Slimane Leham 0 Posted October 12, 2016 A sky is everything. It can be cloudly , sunny ,rainy, and everything else. Those characteristics can stay for a long time but the sky is always there. The sky can be everything. Maybe it has to do that sora as main charackter ist not only the central point of the storybut also he can walk side on side or be the attribute of rain sun etc.(as ventus roxas etc are within him).Or it can be meant as his emotions as sad happy etc.
palizinhas 102 Posted October 12, 2016 Twilight is used for something brief in the series, like Roxas' "his light is as bright and brief as the setting sun" description, so 1.5 is things seemingly becoming better at the end of KH1, but actually just going from bad to worse, so it goes from twilight to night - and 2.5 shows that worst, with BBS being the lowest point for the main heroes, so it's just night. Now, Sora's main job is healing the pain of those connected to him, 2.8 being the one to set the stage for it and going from night to daybreak. And in KHIII, he will save them all, and they will together bring the end of Xehanort, so yeah it will likely only have daylight.
Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted October 12, 2016 it'd be cool if the KH3 cover art had some callbacks to the original KH cover art. maybe have characters in similar poses on a cliff side in the Keyblade graveyard, have it set at dawn with the light of the sun coming up over the horizon cast over everyone, maybe sneak in some foreshadowing by having someone remain untouched by the rays of light.... that'd be neat. Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted October 12, 2016 Freaking damn it Nomura! You and your clever wordplay and symbolism!! I love you. T3T" Okay, so with Sora it seems clear to me that it evokes a feeling of him literally rising to the challenge that Xehanort is placing in front of him, though knowing Kingdom Hearts there might literally be a scene with him rising or something in KH3, so who knows. As with the sky, I feel like it's meant to symbolize the tone and the flow of how the story of KH3 will turn out. The sunset to night transition symbolizes the change from the relative calm they have had since Xehanort's latest scheme (the "day" as it where) slowly giving way to his current machinations (the oncoming "night" of darkness). Then the middle of the night literally represents the darkness of Xehanort's plans as he then begins moving things into full swing, things perhaps even looking pretty grim and hopeless around the middle of the story. Then the final transition from night to dawn symbolizes the final clash with Xehanort to stop his plans once and for all, with the glow of dawn hinting at a possible sign of hope. I really hope that this is a sign that they might be considering making a ReMIX collector's edition bundle, because I really want to see a full portrait of all three of these covers combined together into one long mural, the skies perfectly blending into each other and everything. <3 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

Moochieh32 676 Posted October 13, 2016 Really interesting I love the Sora one, letting players see just by looking at the covers, how much Sora has grown from KH1-KH3. The sky in KH3 is going to be with a sun, meaning the 'day' has arrived. New worlds to explore, new characters to meet, new stories to uncover, new everything. Of course this will also mean that Xehanort, a symbol of darkness, will be defeated and all the protagonists of the series being saved and reunited which also makes daylight a very appropriate theme for the game. You two just made me think of something. Long ago, in ancient times the world was bathed in the warmth of Light. People believed the Light was a gift from an unseen land known as Kingdom Hearts. We've seen several falls Kingdom Hearts in the series In KH we saw Kingdom Hearts as a shadowy silhouette. In KH2 and BbS, we saw Kingdom Hearts as heart shaped moons. one yellow, one blue. We've always believed Kingdom Hearts is a heart shaped moon, but all the ones we've seen where all fake. What if Kingdom Hearts, the one and only real, true Kingdom Hearts that we will see in KH3 is in fact, a heart shaped sun? Anyway, now I'm kinda mad that I've missplaced my 2.8 artwork card from the CE. It's in my room somwhere, at least, it was the last time I saw it. Can someone please Photoshop these covers together so that the skies blend into each other almost perfectly? I really want to see that now! Will this be alright? Sorry it's not blended, that's hard to do with those words in the way, and it's almost impossible to find a version without them. And I had yo use the low-rez vewrsions here becasue I have a small screen. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted October 13, 2016 Wow, Nomura, you sly fox, you are one clever son of a gun! Like seriously, I would've never guessed this! But now that we know what the covers mean, it just makes it all the more awesome as we move forward onto Kingdom Hearts III! Dang, that's some neat symbolism right there! And I agree with everyone, Kingdom Hearts III's cover art will probably have a theme related to the sunrise, as that seems to be the final time period that hasn't been plastered on the covers for the other KH games so far, ya know? Gahh, the hype is so real! Sora is standing up to take down Xehanort once and for all! Thanks for this awesome news, Jake! 2 RikuFangirl2008 and Moochieh32 reacted to this
King_Graham 135 Posted October 13, 2016 If you look at just the foreground characters, there are four in 1.5s cover art, four in 2.5s(not the ones rising out of the code in the middle. That's midground), and five in 2.8s. 4+4+5=13 Take away the repeats, and you have seven. 4 KH4Real, Master Eraqus, RikuFangirl2008 and 1 other reacted to this
