AwesomeKHfan 1,250 Posted October 9, 2016 They always ask to me ''is it live action or animated like 2D?'' And I reply with ''2D animated'' Ooh sorry I don't watch animation. Seriously I don't get it could somebody care to explain to me why who thinks the same or has a idea? 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted October 9, 2016 I guess because they are more into live action because of the possible content it contains. And I guess when someone says "2D Animated", they might think it's a pointless kiddy cartoon, and they are too old for things like that. Or the very logic that 2D animation holds. (I might be wrong with this part of my comment.) Or probably thinks 2D animation is boring when it's flat. 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted October 9, 2016 It's most likely from the mentality that animated = for kids. 3 Awesome Sauce, Exiblade7 and Movies798 reacted to this
AngelTheWeirdStranger 504 Posted October 9, 2016 There's nothing wrong with 2D animation. It's just that adults attribute it too children because that's how it used to be for them. 2D was meant to entertain children and thus they think that it stayed that way. They're not really to blame though. If you grow up knowing something for a fact you'll have trouble believing that it's not true anymore. Also, a lot of adults are really stubborn and pretty close-minded, so telling them to sit down and enjoy a 2D cartoon, they'll still think it's for kids from beggining till end. kingdombladesventus 53 Posted October 9, 2016 Personally, I don't have any wrong with 2d animation. I kind of wished it was still more around. But, the norm of animation is being cg all around. Still I like both, but...if they remade/remake or upgraded a series that was 2d to cg, it loses it magic of what it was-well that's my opinion. Still, I would watch it, just, I would lose the 2d style. 2 Exiblade7 and Movies798 reacted to this
Exiblade7 1,917 Posted October 9, 2016 It's because they think anything on the cartoony side is for little kids, so they stay away from it.
KairiKeybasH 851 Posted October 9, 2016 I don´t see why it´s hate on. Even people demend more 2D animation these days.
DaxtotheMax 193 Posted October 9, 2016 My life in a nutshell! I'm working on being a 2D animation artist/creator and people always kind of criticize if it's not 3D animation but most of the time it's if it's not live action. My dad like Lord of the Rings (I'm more of a Star Wars guy) but he was saying how I could work at WETA which is where they make a lot of the props and merchandise, but anyway he barely ever wants to watch animated movies and says they're for "kids" (except Toy Story for some reason), I mean so what, they don't have blood and gore in them so it's automatically a kids movie, it's kid-friendly sure, but I mean look at how much goes over kids heads that you notice when you're older like how much detail is put into the movies. It's like how there's the Call of Duty players then there are the Splatoon players, Splatoon is a shooting game for people who don't like shooter games, and Call of Duty is the complete opposite, it's like factions, having COD, Splatoon, and the ones in-between (they like both) You can't really sway one to the other, it's just how it is. I feel bad that it didn't take much for people to enjoy a cartoon back when Walt Disney was still around but now it's as complex as can be and there is a lack of 2D animation and the ones that do exist have live action remakes (which are still pretty darn good) but you can accomplish so much more in animation (though technology is making it easier to make it seem more possible) that's why they made Disney's Tarzan animated whcih I feel it can't be recreated in live-action (so don't even try Disney!), you don't even need 3D to make it look good! I don't have anything wrong with live-action or 3D animation but I feel that 2D is where it's at, it's what I know, it's what I'm good at 3 The Transcendent Key, Exiblade7 and AwesomeKHfan reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted October 10, 2016 I find this sad! V_V What people don't realize is that 2D animation came before all the flashy 3D we see today! But it seems appreciation for the beauty of 2D has gone, like a passing flame, ya know? And I think that's messed up! Because when I look at some of Disney's earlier works, you can see the love and detail put into the most miniscule details that just brought those films to life, ya know? I mean sure, Disney's 3D Animated films are pretty darn awesome, but I also love their 2D style, which I wish they'd bring back once in a while! The last film we got that was 2D from Disney's Animated Classics was 2011's Winnie The Pooh! And after that, there's been nothing! D: But yeah, apparently, people think that just because it's hand drawn animation, it's immediately just for kids! But what they don't realize is that these films can be just as good, if not better, than live action films! And take a show like Gravity Falls, for example! On the surface, it looks like a kids show, but with the understanding of an adult, you can notice all the little details, and the overall creepy vibe that hides underneath the "kiddy" exterior of the show! I'm in love with the show, and I'm onward to the Second Season now, as I just finished Season One last night! But yeah, my point is, 2D animation is highly unappreciated, it seems! But I love it, and I will always love it! 1 DaxtotheMax reacted to this
