Django Moore 62 Posted September 27, 2016 Oh My God LMAO! also, this. Can you believe he's ACTUALLY a candidate for the president of the United States? Ultima Spark 753 Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) The shocking thing is that people want to vote for him, and I'm not talking about the "Yolo vote" thing. The bellicose and oftentimes downright arrogant nature of those calling themselves "progressive" plays a great part in that (the projected attitude far more so than the actual values)...people don't appreciate being treated with contempt when you just brush aside what they see as a genuine concern, regardless of the validity of it (as the "progressives" are often perceived as doing). So they gravitate towards someone who projects a more populist image, someone who claims to "fight for the common people" (again, regardless of the validity of such claims). It's a self-fulfilling prophecy, in a way, and it's not entirely unjustified to say that the "progressives" in part brought it upon themselves. (And yes, I keep saying "progressives" in quotes for a reason, partially because I've never liked the label, partially because of the arrogant aura it projects, and partially because I think most of them calling themselves such don't actually believe what they espouse, they just want to play their own brand of politics and social hierarchy climbing, and for that reason hijack things that otherwise had potential.) EDIT: It seems some people have interpreted this post as support for Trump...no, I think he's a complete lunatic (I lived under the Tony Abbott government for ****'s sake...), and I have basically no confidence in Hillary either due to her [and/or her supporters'] love of guilt-tripping and other unsavoury tactics (and other reasons besides). Dave 5,715 Posted September 27, 2016 Trump couldn't have floundered more if he was literally drowning. He danced around answering the questions and masked it with a bluster that, if you do any level of fact checking, shows that he says whatever is on the top of his head, rather than what is actually the case. Favorite highlights include him claiming to be smart for evading taxes while criticizing NATO members for not paying their share, bragging about how he got away with the lawsuit against him in regards to discriminatory hiring practices during the part of the debate focused on race relations, and claiming that Hillary has been fighting ISIS her whole life even though it has only existed approximately two years. For those interested, here is the transcript of the debate along with fact checks on the references both candidates cite. You'll notice the falsehoods tend to stack of on the side of Trump. http://www.npr.org/2016/09/26/495115346/fact-check-first-presidential-debate 2 Django Moore and Kaneki Ken reacted to this

If you don't mind me asking could you tell me what points and views from his campaign drew you to pick him for your vote (I only know so much about this presidential election so I'm curious to hear the different views of some people towards this as an outsider to the topic overall) Edited September 27, 2016 by Joemahon1 1 Django Moore reacted to this

This thread went from me trying to be serious to me accidentally making it not serious by posting a meme to not serious to serious again then off topic then on topic then moved into the random section and then on topic and then off topic and then on and off.
