AwesomeKHfan 1,250 Posted September 26, 2016 A stupid reason! I watched FF Kingsglaive today and really really didn't like it... Well the plot was alright but the execution made me hate the game and I haven't even played it yet! I have been wating almost 10 years for it, I have been ignoring FF15 news since Kingsglaive got aanouced when I first saw the trailer on the live stream I didn't wanted to know more. But now I'm worried and I watched the Throne trailer and TGS trailer but my hope has been lost. Maybe the game is good and I'm over dramatic (which wouldn't be surprising because 10 years)

The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted September 26, 2016 I have yet to see the movie, but I don't think it's fair to judge a game that hasn't been released yet based upon a movie. FF7 advent children was a bad movie, but the original FF7's story was 9/10 and a lot of people regard that game as one of the greatest ever. I'm not saying that this game is going to be a 9/10 or 10/10 for sure, but FF movies and videogame movies in general are pretty terrible.
AwesomeKHfan 1,250 Posted September 26, 2016 (edited) Care to share your thoughts on how bad Kingsglaive was? Well I don't know maybe it is the 10 years wait but these are a few things I didn't like. Horrible editing in the beginning and pacing felt of Story feels like a first draft of a script hardly developt while the movie was three years in the work I believe. I guess they wanted to release the movie close to the game for marketing purpose. It looked like it had alot of promise though. Character development was almost non existend the only character that got development atleast was Nyx if I do his name right but he was just some guy we have seen before. I don't know what Luna likes in the movie because she was paper thin and started talking about destiny #YouNeedToKnowTheLoreToUnderstandTheMovie100%-________- Wasted characters Half of the voice acting felt of and Auron Paul voice acting was oké Way to many characters on screen for two hours I swear this movie was 30 minutes longer but they cut it out The camera was sometimes of maybe has to do with pacing The last few minutes of the movie follow me here please 1. Main protagonist meets ''God'' like creatures and blast the main bad guy away oké sounds good right 2. Princess gets in car and tries to escape the city with Libertus oké two things going on now oké 3. Wait now Nyx fights the main bad guy like Zod vs Superman in Man Of Steel (EXTREMLY over dramtic what I said lol) 4. Now giant God like creatures are fighting at the good guys side- Wait we go to a scene now in the air- No wait we are at the princess now NO WE ARE WATCHING GIANTS KILL GIANTS THAT DESTROY THE CITY WHILE SHIPS DESTROY THE CITY AND AT THAT MOMENT THE MAIN BAD GUY IS FIGHTING AND DESTROYING THINGS TO! https://youtu.be/fIWKMgJs_Gs?t=89 1:29 5. Joker 1,560 Posted September 26, 2016 huh I can see why you and others didn't like it, I personally enjoyed the movie myself the only one who felt off was Liberitus as his VA really sounded like he was faking it. 1 AwesomeKHfan reacted to this
AngelTheWeirdStranger 504 Posted September 26, 2016 I agree that the FF15 movie was terrible but that doesn't mean the game will be bad too. If you look at the trailers you can see that it's bound to be good. Also if you want something to hype you before the actual game then watch the Brotherhood anime which actually develops the main cast, making them recognizable and more likeable before the game's release. 1 AwesomeKHfan reacted to this
Awesome Sauce 634 Posted September 26, 2016 How does a tie-in movie makes you lose excitement about and judge a game before it's out? 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted September 26, 2016 Yeah, you are kind of over-reacting. I understand if you came into the movie with little to no context (it's been a while since I've seen all the trailers and I was still kind of lost through most of the movie), but once you've seen everything they've released up to this point (hell, watch the old 2006-onward trailers if you want), there really isn't much reason to be that disappointed, story wise. I should point out though that your only concern after watching Kingsglaive should be with the STORY, if that's even still eating you after watching everything. How the story is handled shouldn't really be an indicator that you won't like how the gameplay feels and stuff like that. If anything, if you watch all the trailers and footage released up to today, you won't only have more reasons to be hopeful about the story (I felt better about Noctis after I got to see him emote), but you'll have a million reasons to be hopeful about the gameplay too. Not liking one promotional movie shouldn't ruin the whole game for you.
KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted September 26, 2016 How does a tie-in movie makes you lose excitement about and judge a game before it's out? This is the question I ask too. I see two variables that aren't supposed to go together be put together and an odd answer come out in its place.
Lulcielid 159 Posted September 26, 2016 I would like to point out that Kingsglaive and FFXV have different writers. 1 Geralt reacted to this
WayfindersDestiny 172 Posted September 27, 2016 I personally thought Kingsglaive was great and very reminiscent of the way Final Fantasy stories are progressed. We were laughing occasionally during serious moments because it was such a Final Fantasy cliche. But overall enjoyed and as an animator let me sit back and be in awe of the photorealism. But that's just me aha.
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 27, 2016 Honestly, I thought Kingsglaive was great! It was an intriguing film that based itself on FFXV's world, and seeing Regis was awesome! (Sean Bean nails the role!) I also really liked Ardyn Izunia, even though he only appeared briefly! He's quite the interesting character! Overall, I thought the movie was great, and one of the scenes I loved most was when Nyx and Luna were talking to each other while a pianist in the background was playing Somnus Nemuri! Gahh!!!! But yeah, if anything, Kingsglaive's got me excited for FFXV, and I'm excited to watch all the Episodes for Brotherhood so then I can dive into XV head on! Cyber Shaman 990 Posted September 27, 2016 What does it mean exactly?Well let's see... There's an anime Ova, three demos, a live action movie, an manga, and a guide book when the game's not even released yet. That's quite alot of products for a game that's not released. It just looks like to me that Square Enix is using every opportunity to make money from the game. 1 Minato arisato reacted to this

I think he means to say or atleast me is it that they release to much content before the release of the actual game itself. The anime, movie are all connected towards the game itself. While this can be a good thing and give you something to watch or make you think the games universe is not for me it feels like way to much and putting more hype behind your game and to get the bigger picture about the overall story this is all needed even though you can still enjoy the game on it's own. Take Assassin's Creed for example: if you want to know the story 100% you need to read the comics and other stuff. Do you know how it feels to have to explain one certain character COUGH COUGH Gavin Banks towards your friends because he gets mentioned in files and databases and not explained in the game at all and getting dropped next year anyway Edited September 27, 2016 by AwesomeKHfan 2 AngelTheWeirdStranger and Cyber Shaman reacted to this

And Lunas face Oh classic Square Enix character syndrome. It's whenever someone at Square's writing team forgets how to write human speech and instead put "cool" sounding words like destiny and darkness ..............then start spamming said words for every dialogue for said character in the game Anywho I've yet to watch Kingsglaive but from the trailers at least I can safely say it's better than Advent Children(which I hated) I'm still hopeful about the actual game though and that's something I rarely say about modern Square games nowadays

That's quite alot of products for a game that's not released. It just looks like to me that Square Enix is using every opportunity to make money from the game. How is that a bad thing? They need to make at least 10 million US dollars else they'll be in trouble financially. Square Enix is a company after all... They have lost out, since versus 13 was meant to be a multiple part series, they need to make that money back. Even just by looking at the game, you can tell it had a high budget. Also, they've spent a lot of time on how to deal with the game, people have moved back and forth to and from the development team. Time is money. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-15-director-clarifies-10-million-sal/1100-6436227/ It's also a pay back to the fans, they have been waiting 10 years for this game, so they deserve a lot of content. Versus 13 was meant to be a series, but it was condensed into a single game-FFXV. So this extra content helps expand the lore.
Minato arisato 253 Posted October 2, 2016 I'm late to the party but I'm in the camp of possibly only enjoying FFXV's world in a lore or character perspective. High chance what was presented in the demos will be similar to the final game and i didn't enjoy it too much. But if the movie was bad, then it's certainly killed any interest I had in the game or anything related.

You can't really milk a free anime, as far as I'm considered the only thing that you have to pay for is FFXV itself, Kingslaive, and I don't think the guidebook has been released yet, but it does come with the collector's edition I'm late to the party but I'm in the camp of possibly only enjoying FFXV's world in a lore or character perspective. But if the movie was bad, then it's certainly killed any interest I had in the game or anything related. The only demo that had any remote connection to how FFXV will play is the end part of the platinum demo and even that doesn't give a full representation as your only playing as Noctis, with no party members, one enemy(Iron Giant), the only real demo that even remotely relates to the game itself is the Master Version to which a lot have had glowing praise for, some people who have played it have said their fears for this game have be removed. 1 The 13th Kenpachi reacted to this
Clouded Sun 1,232 Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) The characters in Kingsglaive weren't memorable simply because it was a glorified advertisement for FFXV. I bet the ring was the only important thing to come out of the movie. I liked the plot but I couldn't get invested into a single character, and it made me actually dislike Regis. And Luna was a damsel in distress after they specifically stated she'd be a strong character. Nevertheless I still have extremely high hopes for the game. I know it will outperform my expectations due to the gameplay and the narrative and strength that I see in the characters. And the voice actors in the game seemed to have lots of fun. The characters have definition that the characters in Kingsglaive don't have, and I wish the Insomnia fight was just in the game in the first place.
