Yeah, many fans made the same suggestion. But I'm not sure if the "suicide topic" will be used in One Piece. Because it's extremely serious. Wouldn't mind though, since it would be something new.

Oh and the second part isn't right I think. In the last chapter Big Mom said if Lola had married that person she would be Pirate King by now. So it must have been a powerful person.

We had an entire arc that dealt with racism and prejudice, why not continue to go the extra mile?

And I did forget about the Lola thing, though my point stands: Big Mom let Lola run away, but having Pudding run away, at this point where she's clearly way off her nut and already experienced a massive hit to her ego and political power in the past? Again, if she just runs away, I feel that would just do more harm than good. If she offs herself, at least it gives everyone the chance to duck out without Big Mom suspecting them of getting involved and ruining her plans.

Yeah true. But she will never kill herself xD Makes the outcome just more obvious, that's all.

And fair enough. At this point if Pudding ran away that would only make Big Mom angrier. Still I highly doubt Pudding will die.

New Chapter!!

Damn, lot of stuff happened O.O

Chopper and Carrot finally freed themselves, which I'm happy about. I like Carrot more and more and wouldn't mind her joining the crew xD

The part with Pedro and Tamago was cool too and I assume we will see their backstory soon.

Brook gets attacked by Big Mom :O That should be interesting...

But the end was the best part!! What happened to Reiju? I wouldn't know anyone who would attack her...

Well, that Chopper/Carrot conflict got resolved quicker than expected, but hey, progress. I don't really understand how they got into their predicament in the first place though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last shot we saw of them before they got captured was being chased by Brûlée. So how did Chopper figure out how to counter her mirror power? And where did the frog come from? And how come Brulee was standing right in front of them when this all happened and she was still surprised that the Carrot she caught was an imposter?

Other than that, we have some decent progressions and set ups: Puddin is MIA for the moment, Brook is squaring off with Big Mom, Pedro is squaring off with Tamago (and of course he was a pirate in a past life, that's pretty much the backstory of most people who turn out to be different now than they were in the past xD), and apparently Reiju got her ass kicked by someone. I suspect Germa 66 vs. Big Mom Pirates foreshadowing.

Good questions... Even if Chopper knew how her powers worked, where did that frog come from xD And why was it transformed into Carrot? Only solution is that the frog was already transformed before it got into the mirror world, but no idea how it appeared there then.

And agreed. I assume it must be quite obvious that it is a frog xD

Random but interesting thought about Brook vs. Big Mom:

Big Mom's Soul-Soul Fruit lets her suck the lifespan out of people, right? Does that apply to Brook? I mean, technically, he's dead but also alive at the same time because the Revive-Revive Fruit doesn't necessarily make him alive after he died, it just reanimates his already deceased body. He might not have any lifespan to suck because technically, he doesn't have any without that technicality.

That might also apply to Smoothie Charlotte since her ability seems to be similar in that she literally people's life force out of them like juice until they're all dried out. In that sense, Brook is already dried out so there'd be nothing for her to squeeze out.

Hmm... Brook is techniqually only a soul that lives inside his old dead body. But he mentioned once that he has full control over his soul now, so I think he would be really immune to Big Mom's powers. The part in last week's chapter, where he defeated those chess soldiers and meant they have no chance against him, the "Soul King", kinda confirms that. And yeah, he has no lifespan left I think, which gives me the question how he will ever die xD

And like you said he would be also immune to Smoothie's power. Makes Brook like the natural enemy of both of them xP Just like Luffy was immune to Enel's Thunder fruit.

Not reporting news I found or anything, these are just some random thoughts I had about the series as a whole, but I'll put it in spoiler tags anyway in case I end up rambling about something:

So after power watching through the anime in the hopes of catching up (only about 300+ episodes to go... yay?), meaning that I also finally got to finish Thriller Bark, I have a new appreciation for Brook.

He's still not my favorite Straw Hat or anything, but watching the end of Thriller Bark, specifically his interactions with the Straw Hats, his backstory reveal, and his official induction into the crew gave me a better impression of the character that I previously had before, and to be fair, that was mostly because it was my first viewing of the arc and I was so burnt out on the battle with Oz, Moriah and then Kuma that I just wanted the arc to end.

I think it's because he's the only member of the crew that was actually a true-blue pirate before joining. You look back at all the other crew members and you remember that they were bounty hunters, pirate associates but not really pirates themselves, or just random village people. Brook, however, was a pirate in his earliest years and then went on to be the musician-then-captain of his very own crew. I don't know, I guess for me that just gives him a special sense of experience compared to the other characters since he's pretty much transitioning from one life as a pirate to another instead of it just officially becoming a pirate in general, and it made his acceptance into the crew, especially with the scene of him listing his accomplishments and showing off his bounty and whatnot, even more exciting. Other than that, I think the last episode of the Spa Island filler arc was just really cute and I thought it fit as a good transitional piece between that point in the story going into the next arc. xD

Still, all of this really makes me appreciate the character more and even more now in the current manga storyline where it seems like he's going to play a bigger role or the very least get a lot more attention that usual.

"Power watching through the anime", you're too fast man... xD

About Brook: the reason why I didn't like him as much as the rest before is because of the awful timing of his joining. Like any other straw hat he got his joining arc, the Thriller Barc, but after that we went straight to Sabaody Archipelago and had the loooooooooong break from every straw hat exepct for Luffy. Kinda made it hard for me to have a "connection" to Brook or to see him as a true member back then, cause he just had no screen time! xD After the skip he got screen time then, and he felt like a true member to me, but honestly he never seemed to be as connected to the straw hats as in the current arc. That he tries everything to get a copy of the porneglyph, because Luffy is his captain and friend, I'm really happy to see that. And I like him more and more.

Also right, Brook was the only member who has been a pirate before, he even was a captain, and that makes him special. Being a member of the straw hats is kinda like a continuation of his original journey, since that one came to an horrible end. So yeah, makes him the most experienced pirate actually.

And omg, I LOVE that episode!! xD Honestly should have been in the manga, somehow, cause it really strengthens the bond of him and the rest, at least for the viewer. Cause it showed that he wants to be of help and that he would do anything to achieve that.

Believe me, I'm not. xD I'm juggling other stuff at the same time and I'm only on episode 390 right now. Still a loooooong ways away.

New Chapter!

Well that was... unexpected.

Pudding is evil! And I thought she wants to sacrifice herself xD Also she finally showed her third eye, I knew it was her we saw during the talk of Luffy and Big Mom on Fishman Island.

Have to say I heavily welcome this turn of events. Now Pudding is not another damsel in distress cliche, who needs to be saved but just another enemy, and what a cruel one. Luffy said it quite nicely, what a f*cking bitch!

Since Chopper and Carrot are still on their way to the castle I assume they're the ones who will save Luffy and Nami.

The part with Pedro and Tamago was quite interesting too. The last panel looks like Tamago got cut in half, but I assume he's unhurt somehow. Tamago has probably also eaten a devil fruit, cause he looks like an... egg xD So an eggman maybe.

Well, this chapter had an overdramatic ending note. xD "Not a single ray of hope, left in this world." Pfft. Clearly whoever wrote this is very uninformed about this series. And shonen battle manga in general.

Anyways, plot twist, the bitch from the evil family full of evil people is also, in fact, evil. I guess Lola is the only one (sans I guess the Fishwoman one) with any morality in this clan now. I guess she managed to leave Big Mom's care before she made her drink the Kool Aid. Still, Lola still seems to have some kind of respect for her, so what's up with that? Either way, that's a whole 'nother topic. Back to the chapter:

More Pedro backstory! And of course, they team the two lion people together. Dat's racist. xD In all seriousness, now I think we finally have Pedro in a more unique light other than "some random leopard dude from the last arc filling in for Zoro". Plus, Tamago power reveal incoming.

Speaking of Big Mom: she's a big f*cking moron. According to Pudding, this entire wedding is now even more of a farce then it was before since she's not even planning to marry Sanji and instead is going to put a cap in his ass with the rest of the Germa 66 following. She would rather off an entire legion of super solider combat specialists for some crazy reason, whatever it is, then actually take advantage of allying herself with said forces so that she has it as her disposal for conquering purposes... at this point, I think its clear what our heroes need to do: raze this God damn island to the ground. xD Maybe now the Germa will help them too since Reiju is foreshadowed to actually have a bit of a conscience and might persuade them to help out.

One last note about Pudding: this is, I think, the best opportunity to have Sanji smack a bitch. This whole "Pudding is evil" thing still kinda exacerbates the problem with "developing" Sanji as I noted before, but the chance is still there.

Chopper and Carrot are going to be in that dimension for like five more chapters aren't they?

Yeah but this isn't much better since 99% of her family is evil anyway. xD Plus, her sacrificing herself would have nixed that whole "damsel in distress" thing anyway since it would have shown her handling the conflict directly instead of waiting for someone else like Luffy or Sanji to think of something. Oh well.

Also, whoever did the translation needs to be fired.

Yeah, don't get why Lola is still so fond of her mom. She even gave Nami her vivre card thinking that would help them... welp xD Dunno how she couldn't know how evil Big Mom is.

I assume the reason Big Mom will kill them all and get those clones, instead of making that alliance, is because she doesn't trust them.

But yes, I also think the Germa 66 will team up with Luffy and co. soon and fight against Big Mom's crew. Would make sense.

And absolutely agreed man!! I really hope Sanji kicks that bitch a few times xD Would be some character development for him, and he really needs some. Up till now he was just annoying in this arc, imo.

Depends. If they are the ones who save Luffy and Nami then they may leave the mirror world in the next chapter.

Btw next week will be no chapter, cause this week will be a double issue of the Jump Festa magazine.

So we have to wait 2 weeks -.-

Oh yeah, forgot about the Yamato babies. That's also a possibility. But yes, Germa 66/Straw Hat Alliance vs. Big Mom Pirates would make for a great final conflict for this arc, though convincing the Vinsmoke kin might prove to be difficult.

Yeah, same. Kinda toned down more than usual, mostly for dramatic overtones, but still being given more pity than actual development.

Possibly. I don't see anybody else who can do it unless Brook manages to slip by Big Mom in the coming chapters.

For some reasons the new chapter is already out today! Next one will take 2 weeks though.

So Pudding showed more of her ugly side... I honestly hope Sanji gets his act together and fights her. Her devil fruit explains why she just told her secret, petty useful ability.

Brook vs Big Mom :O Damn, I like Brook more and more!

Chopper and Carrot: still in the mirror world...

Luffy and Nami: Ha! Jinbei appeared!! :D Was wondering where he disappeared to, after that scene with Big Mom. Just a bit surprised that he seems to be unharmed. Maybe she stole him some years? Guess we have to wait to find that out.

Pretty good chapter!

The first part of this chapter felt like the Comedy Central Roast of Sanji Vinsmoke, and while it was entertaining to see Pudding's true personality come out in more shades, it's really starting to sink in at this point that Sanji is just not going to actually develop as a character and that his entire arc is giving him the "this person is perfect and the world is the one that needs to change" treatment instead. It kinda bums me out that barely anybody I know (not really on here) isn't really paying attention to it too...

But onto more exciting matters: Pudding has a Devil Fruit and Jinbei returns! ... And that's kinda it. Everything else was just kind of samey.

Just realized: Pudding's devil fruit explains why Lola had no idea her mom was that evil. That part of her memory was just edited.

Late replay I know xD

Dunno if that's the case. Sure Pudding and her family are the evil ones who tricked Sanji, but he's still to blame too. And his complete behavior and attitude regarding the wedding was just... ehh kinda disgusting tbh. He still has time to develop, and I assume he already got some kind of plan after he disappeared from the balcony. I mean the arc kinda focuses on him, would be dumb not to use that opportunity.

You forget that the entire scene where he "betrays" the Straw Hats pretty much painted him as the undeniable good guy in this entire situation given the kind of logic that One Piece runs on with those types of scenarios. Even last chapters melodramatic reveal of Pudding treated Sanji like the good guy where it showed how devastated Sanji was by learning Pudding's true nature. This series isn't exactly a master of subtlety. xD

There's no indication that Sanji is in the wrong in any of this. Even with Pudding and the wedding, Sanji hasn't been acting any different than he has pretty much the entire series, which again, he hasn't been given any shit for either. As far as I'm concerned, unless we get a "Reason You Suck Speech" from someone or he just utterly comes out and has a epiphany or anything remotely similar, he's not developing.

forgot to reply. Laughted too hard at that squirrel

What can I say, you're right xD Sanji's behavior does annoy me, but he's still being portrayed as the good guy who would have married Pudding just to save his friends. True.

Good to have you in the thread btw, my inner fanboy blinds me sometimes...

Not related to the manga but just some thoughts related to me finishing the Sabaody Archipelago arc in the anime, mostly about the English dub:

First off: I really love Duval now. xD I thought he was funny before in the manga, but hearing David Vincent go full-on flamboyant while still being as stupid as ever when he went handsome was just a treat. I just love how the Straw Hats have someone to hilariously troll them and take all their mean-spiritedness in stride. It's a nice change of pace from the usual antics you see from the crew themselves.

On a similar note: Geroge Manley's Hatchan was really impressive all around. From the usual comedy bits that became his trademark in the Arlong Park arc to the more serious moments like when he got shot by St. Charloss, he really hit the mark even while keeping that same geunine innocence Hatchan has. It really made me feel a lot more for the character too.

Unfortunately, while those two characters had good performances, I wasn't too pleased with the entirety of the main cast when the whole "Separation" scene happened. I mean, yeah, the power of hindsight dictates that this scene isn't that tragic because they'll all end up reuniting anyway, but still, for the time span its set in, this is supposed to be a pretty big deal.

There's so much emotion and drama and tension that's supposed to be packed into that last episode, Episode 405, where the last episode's cliffhanger saw Zoro be the first to get "erased" which would be an indicator that the same fate would befell the rest of the Straw Hats. I've heard the Japanese version in a clip before and they really sell it.

Compare Nami's last line "Luffy, help me!" to FUNimation's "Someone, help me!" in both scripting and emotion, it makes a world of difference and pretty much outlines the difference in tone that each iteration took. In Japanese, you can feel the fear, confusion, and anguish everybody is going through, but In English, It's just more of the typical brand of "One Piece-ness" they bring to most scenes. I didn't outright hate it, but it could have been a lot better.

New Chapter! And a break next week -.-

Hmm, not much has happened.

Jinbei finally freed Luffy and Nami. Since he said he has finished his "business" it's safe to assume he will join the Straw Hats after this arc.

Luffy is still hungry and on his way to Sanji, which means we will definitely get a scene with Sanji making food for him.

Reiju's reaction kinda surprised me "Let the Germa die. Who cares?" xD Was nice that she explained why Sanji is the only one with real emotions and without those super powers, and that their mother kinda sacrificed herself for Sanji.
