ReverofE 698 Posted September 19, 2016 Do you want more platforming/exploration in Kingdom Hearts or do you prefer the worlds to be very linear & designed for combat? And no you cannot choose both or some concept in-between. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Dave 5,715 Posted September 19, 2016 I've always wanted more exploration in the games. Going to essentially the same stage with different backdrops and smashing x only takes me so far. 1 ReverofE reacted to this
HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted September 19, 2016 I like exploration and platforming to a point. I did not like how they did it in KH1 bc I felt lost and it was more annoying more than anything. I kinda like how they did it more in BBS where they started to include it more again in a less confusing way. ( at least to me) 1 Robbie the Wise reacted to this
Headphone Jack 1,147 Posted September 19, 2016 i sure hope there's going to be some kind of exploration aspect involved. i don't want a repeat of DDD with bigger areas but nothing to do in them. Nomura talked about how the hardware they're working with allows for larger areas, so i would assume that also implies the areas will be larger for a legitimate reason, and not just "bigger areas for the sake of bigger areas." gotta have something to do in those big areas or else what's the point? Komali 594 Posted September 19, 2016 If it's done like in the Cavern of Remembrance, then I'm fine with that. KH shouldn't only focus on combat, but the platforming and exploration must have a certain, unfrustrating quality. 1 ReverofE reacted to this

Veemon 1,540 Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) I'm with the majority, here. I love getting the chance to explore areas and levels in hopes of finding something I never knew about before, or finding special materials and items that drop from enemies. (Okay, that's technically combat-based, but it's less linear because you discover their varying dropped items.) Plus, exploring lets me sort of do my own thing, rather than being limited to one objective. (That doesn't mean I don't like to progress and have story, though. Imagine a game that only had sidequests and no ending! Haha, I kid, I kid. ) Rock on! Edited September 19, 2016 by Veemon

( at least to me) Yeah BBS was that KH game which attempted to blend the elements of the first game (exploration, relevantish Disney Worlds, puzzles, etc) with the elements presented in the second game ( flashiness, faster combat, etc). And while it did succeed in some areas (as well as succeed in being unique) it failed in others and the elements borrowed presented weren't as great as the original games they were introduced in. This. I always got lost in Deep Jungle and had no idea where to go to start the next cutscene Actually I got lost in most worlds in KH1 Well what world did you NOT get lost in then? Plus, what type of world would you have preferred? Would you have preferred one in BBS? i sure hope there's going to be some kind of exploration aspect involved. i don't want a repeat of DDD with bigger areas but nothing to do in them. To be honest I also would like there to be more exploration in KH3 as well. However considering that the game will be developed by Osaka Team (DDD & BBS) and the trailers showcase that it's taking more from KH2's book than KH1 I honestly doubt the exploration/puzzles will be main priority throughout the game. Felixx 6,646 Posted September 20, 2016 Well what world did you NOT get lost in then? Plus, what type of world would you have preferred? Would you have preferred one in BBS? In KH1? Only Halloween Town and Olympus Coliesum tbh. I got lost in every other world to some point And I would prefer more explorating than in KH2 of course, but not as extreme as in KH1, that's just too much.So ythe worlds in BBS managed to accomplish that nicely imo. DDD worlds were just huge but empty.
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted September 20, 2016 Well, in my opinion, at least, I'd love if Kingdom Hearts III went back to the series roots! In this case, I'm talking about how world exploration was handled in the first Kingdom Hearts! You could find all sorts of goodies and rare items in secret areas if you'd pay close enough attention and tinker around with the environment, ya know? So take KH1's exploration, obviously add a more polished, modern twist to it, and voila! Fun, exploreable worlds that have scope and substance to them, ya know? I don't mind KHII's linearity when it comes to worlds though, so honestly, whatever happens, I'm cool, so long as it's all done right, ya know?
KeybladeMasterDeadpoolio 55 Posted September 20, 2016 If the ability to wall run and that huge cliff that Sora jumps off of in one of the game play trailers is anything to go by, I'd say there is definitely platforming in KH3. Personally I'm kind of hoping the worlds have a wide open sandbox element to them in addition to platforming but that's just me liking sandbox games. Yeah but will there any exploration in that game or will it be a lot like KH2 but bigger. Plus, with the addition of Flowmotion it will make all of the normal platforming elements fruitless. I just feel like it might be shaping up to be a Bigger Linear Version of KH2 ft. Flowmotion. That is something that I would despise.
