Square Enix set to launch new titles in the second half of FY2019

Square Enix President and Representative Director Yosuke Matsuda discussed the launch schedule in the Financial Results Briefing Session from the FY2018 fiscal year.

You can read an excerpt from his comments below.

"We will not be releasing any major new titles until the launch of “SHADOW OF THE TOMB RAIDER,” which is slated for September 14. In other words, our launch schedule for new titles in FY2019/3 kicks off in the latter half of 2Q and is therefore weighted more to 2H."

Kingdom Hearts III is slated for a 2018 release. More information should be coming at E3 2018 on June 12-14.

When do you think Kingdom Hearts III will release? Let us know in the comments below!

I guess that's a no on before September?

So maybe October and November? Or just November?

Now anyone who still is skeptical KH3 is coming out this year and is this next year is being ridiculous. With that said, I say either September or December KH3 comes out.

Late November. Gonna stretch it like they did FFXV.

Is anyone still thinking November in light of Pokemon let's go's release date? They would probably be directly competing for sales as they're both aimed at the same demographics

With all the hype Kingdom Hearts 3 is getting, it would be a shame to release it when every other game is releasing..

I'm rather happy about this. I know there were many Q3 enthusiasts, the July ones probably being the most optimistic, but I'm satisfied they have time to fix the things that were critcized at the premiere event and polish it a bit more.

Despite it looking fairly good already, it is apparent they still have quite a bit to do. A few more months did wonders to 0.2.

All in all, Q4 was my top expectation and also the time frame I was anticipating if they don't want to throw put some subpar game with a day one patch at the ready.

It's a longer waiting time, yes, but I take better quality over a poor game any day.

It looks like Target might have been right on the money. I'm gonna guess late October/early November. I don't know the exact release dates of previous KH games, but I feel December might be a bit late.

I feel like that was always gonna be a problem. Fall/winter is a big gaming season. But yeah it would have been nice to have it not be in competition with all the new games coming out.

The time is gonna fly by though. Especially with them increasing the marketing and (hopefully) the trailers, we have a lot to look forward to before the game. They gotta have time to promote the game. I know some people said they wanted to be surprised about certain stuff (like world reveals) but I'm personally OK with that.

I just looked at the file and I found this typed in small lettering under the chart, "The plans, forecasts, strategies and ideas described in this material are descriptions of forecasts of future results. These descriptions rely on information available as of the date of production of this material and are based on assumptions and judgment made by the Company’s management. Readers are advised not to rely solely on these forecasts. Readers should also not assume that these forecasts are accurate or valid information, even after the date of public release. There are many factors that may cause actual results to vary considerably from the forecasts, and in some cases actual results may be inferior to forecasts. The information on the future forecasts described in this material is current as of May 11, 2018. The company is not obliged to update or correct forecasts concerning the Company’s future results, including forecasts or outlook, if new information becomes available and/or events occur after May 11, 2018"

Reading this certainly gives a new perspective on this news.

Thanks for informing us about this, Leamax!

Okay, so this means that we have more or less a clearer window on when Kingdom Hearts III will release! It looks as though November may actually be the release month after all! Either that or late October! The point is, we're this close to knowing when the game releases, and that makes me happy as heck! Just one more week! :')

GAHHH, THE HYPE IS REAL!!!! :D

Case in point. Everything that happend after the kh3 annoucment

But hey, now we're this close to getting the game, and let's think positive! I'm sure the game will end up having great sales, regardless of what month it releases on! :D
