Connection to Kingdom Hearts χ[chi] revealed: Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX's "Tome of Prophecy" scene translated

DChiuch

With the recent release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX in Japan, we now know that exactly two new important cutscenes were added to the Kingdom Hearts Re:coded Cinematic Story Videos that hint towards the future of the Kingdom Hearts series-- one is the new Secret Movie for the collection, and the other is a special scene connecting the title to the Tome of Prophecy from Kingdom Hearts χ[chi].

We have now translated this scene, and thanks to KH13 translator SkyKeybladeHero, a transcript of it can be read below:

Note: This scene occurs about 2 hours into Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (out of the total 3 hours), between Hollow Bastion and Castle Oblivion

Maleficent: I see...

Pete: What is it?

Maleficent: I didn't quite understand it when I heard "Data World". The Tome of Prophecy. Once, there was a book by that name. It described the worlds of the future as thoough its writer had seen them.

Pete: Ohh, if that thing existed you could do whatever you wanted with the worlds, right?

Maleficent: Reproducing those worlds of the future from that Tome of Prophecy, they say you could bring about the dwellers and powers that exist in the future.

Pete: What? Bring them with a book? I can only believe it is a book from a fairy tale. I shouldn't have built my hopes up.

Maleficent: Indeed, from a fairy tale... However, isn't the "Data World" something similar? That Journal they used to record their trip might have a connection with the Tome of Prophecy that supposedly existed in the past.

Pete: This is getting interesting, Maleficent.

Maleficent: This which is called "Data", we have to get our hands on it.

Ninja'd, was about to post this. I guess it makes sense, everyone knew she was trying to use the Data to simulate the worlds, but maybe she's going to try to use the Data or perhaps even the Tome of Prophecy to take powers from other times to the real world, as a form of Time Travel, similar to Xehanort's plan. This could also be the key for the Seven Lights to beat Xehanort.

It certainly explains how MX did everything throughout the games.

What explains that? And what did MX do? As far as we know, how MX did everything he's done is with time travel. Time travel that he only discovered how to use once he discarded his body and bestowed upon his younger self. If the Tome of Prophecy has something to do with the whole time-travel thing, it would be on Ansem SoD for discovering it. Unless there's some bigger revelation that's going to happen later.

How he knew about everything. How he was 10 steps ahead of everyone.

I think that has more to do with obsessive-compulsively planning backup plan after backup plan, but sure. He may have some insight from the Tome. If the KHIII trailer showing the conversation between him and Eraqus (supposedly) is anything to go by, he knew that from the very beginning. So, yeah, maybe.

The game with the Moogle cat actually has important information... there's a part of me that wants to call bullshit, but honestly, I've stopped caring altogether.

"That Journal they used to record their trip might have a connection with the Tome of Prophecy that supposedly existed in the past." Jiminy Cricket is the Six Followers' Master. I'm sure of it!!

What if the six followers master is...

Us.

maybe Nomura plans to pull a Bravely Default. by having revaling that we were the mastermind ('s) of the series. that we were the ones who started this. that we were the ones who caused MX to fall into the Darkness. and we knew all this time what will happen next.

...okay, still a little confused, but I think I got the gist of it. So basically Maleficent has determined that Jiminy's Journal is somehow connected to the Tome of Prophesy...somehow, and that by gaining access to the Journal, they would be gaining access to the Tome, or at least access to a power similar to what the Tome held. And from the sounds of things, the Tome DRAGS WORLDS FROM THE FUTURE in the same sense that the cards were used to draw power from the future to avert the dark prophesy. If that is the case, then my theory about the worlds of X having come from future points in time was on the right track! (hopefully) While I'm sure that the English version of the scene will make more sense, at the very least this does confirm that Maleficent's ambitions are just as big as ever and she definitely has something dangerous up her sleeve. I can't wait to see what happens! :D

Oh, and given everything that is happening, I'm sure that Nomura is pretty much cementing the idea of doing something to bring the story of X to English speakers. He's not going to just keep the game in Japanese without doing something to inform English fans (who haven't been following and translating X) of the events that are supposed to be important for III. Something will happen, I'm sure of it. :)

Oh. My. Gosh.  :O

And one of my Kingdom Hearts 3 predictions was, those 2 may steal the World's Data for something.

I knew that the World's Data may be important.  >.<

And my younger brother told me that Re: Coded wasn't important....  -.-

And I knew Chi had some connection towards 3, when some fans say that it isn't canon.

Get ready for KH Re:X

It's just how coded was. They released that in episodes aswell and in the end they made it into a full fledged game.

Let me see if I understand, the journals and the tome of prophecy can work at the same way: Turning the things written in them into non-real worlds. The information inside the journals created the Data World, which was very similar to what had happened in reality, and maybe if it wasn't for all the messed up stuf in it, the things in the Data World would happen exactly as it happened in reality. The way I see the tome would have the same "Data World" power, but instead of recording information of what ocourred it would have information of what will ocourr. And that is why Maleficent want to understand the mecanichs of the RE:Coded Data World, to see if she can make the same with the tome.

If they don't localize Chi, I can only hope it'll be the same deal with the Final Mixes in that all the important information will be translated somewhere down the line. Otherwise there will be a lot of non-Japanese fans who'll throw fits.

KHx for iOS and Android.

That sounds like a good idea. At least it does if Square doesn't charge $18 for it like some of their other games.

I'm betting it would have micro transactions like the web browser version does. And to be fair their $18 games are fantastic games like FFIV.
