Square Enix debunks Kingdom Hearts III release date rumors

DChiuch

Earlier in the week, a leaked internal document from Square Enix Europe showed that Kingdom Hearts III had been given a 2014 release date-- however, Square Enix have today confirmed that this release date is inaccurate, and simply a placeholder. Square Enix released the following statement to GameSpot:

We're aware an internal document has been in circulation listing release dates for select Square Enix titles. This information contained in this document is inaccurate and features placeholder timing. Specifically, no announcement has been made to date for Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV--their projected release window remains to be advised.

sora96...you don't work at square. for all we know it may almost be done

I don't work at Square Enix, but I am apart of the media.

Lol. If it was they'd release new trailers, not show the same old trailer a hundred times.

It's a conspiracy to try to make us think that it's still in development

I swear, everyone forgets that one interview that KH13 posted around E3 when Nomura said that the game had already been in development for two years. :/

Yes, it's been developement since 2010 but they've also had to work on Re:coded, Birth by Sleep Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts 3D, HD 1.5 ReMIX and HD 2.5 ReMIX. You saw the trailer in October, that's all they had developed at that time and it's still got a long way to go.

BBSFM was a re-release of a game they already had made. I remember reading that 1.5 only had two programmers, and 2.5 probably will take a little bit more work that 1.5 did. Re:Coded was a remake of a phone game. The only game you mentioned that I can see that would set KHIII too far off track is KH3D. They haven't told us what all has been developed yet, so for all we know, they could have a lot more done than what we've seen.

They told us at E3 that there was nothing playable.

It looked really polished, too. There's no way they haven't done much with the programming yet.

Didn't Nomura say that the D23 Trailer Footage wasn't even up to par on  what they want... Man, talk about perfectionist, while I do think they're with holding a lot of information that we deserve for this long wait, I agree with Sora96 and that we wont see a KHIII till 2016 at the earliest.

Square Enix are perfectionists. Their games are known for looking the best of each console generation.

As they should.. I mean we waited this long, we can wait longer if it means the game being the best it can be.

There is a possibility FFXV could come this year, and a possibility KH3 could come next year. You never know, Square could take E3 by storm with a full new trailer that includes a release date towards the end of the year, and then have 5 months going crazy with advertising leading up to its launch.

FFXV definitely won't be the best looking game.

But I'm just saying FFXV won't be the top notch looking game.

He never said it would. He was just saying that Square's know for having some of the best looking games on each generation of consoles.

This^

Think, VII, X and XIII. Sure they were Square Enix's first releases on those consoles but they are still some of the best looking games for each console.

And their final releases really push the system. IX, XII, Dirge of Cerberus and LIGHTNING RETURNS all look pretty darn good.

But he is defending his opinion as if he meant that, so Im just going to go with that.

Pretty much what you just said was what I meant. FFXV will look damn fine but FFXV-2 or even FFXV-3 will look better. Though at its release FFXV will probably look better then any other game.

You may not believe it but FFVII was one of the biggest evolutions in gaming. If back when it got released you said it looked crap, you would have got gutter stomped.
