Kingdom Hearts 3D appears in Nintendo Dream with Nomura interview

Kingdom Hearts 3D20 March 2012 by DChiuch

Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] has appeared in the latest issue of Nintendo Dream magazine. This article contains an interview with the director of the series, Tetsuya Nomura. While we do not yet have a complete translation, thanks to ArikaMiz, we are starting to get some interesting details.

Update: Complete translation by Oishii of KH13.

+ This time the story’s development doesn’t change the story so much to be numbered. Nomura’s final task this time was remembrance. The story in KHII was spread to unfold little by little, but as for all the foreshadowing retrieved, the sequel is looking to be a fun installment.

+ There is a lot of meaning put into “Distance” and the distance taken in the next KH work. I think the player can feel they are somehow or other getting closer to the meaning as they play. In the end, whether they are successful or have failed will become clear. “Just as with ‘Drop’, there is a pattern of both of them dropping.” (trolololo) (laugh)

+ I think what is a dream and what is reality will be clear in the end, but not everything that unfolds is a dream. (About the guests from TWEWY) Similarly to how I have assembled several of my FF projects, I wanted a surprise in a different form. With the extended Slide Pad Pro, you can control the camera movement with the right stick, but even without it it is comfortable to play.

+ (About using the touch panel for Reality Shift,) It may be better to think of using your finger for the touch panel. The exhilarating feeling the Osaka team made is to the same degree as BBS’s. I think it wouldn’t feel as exhilarating if you couldn’t kick off the walls.

+ Until now the actions in KH couldn’t be performed seamlessly. With the Free Flow Action, I think you can make clever use of the substantial gameplay. I want player to have fun testing out the various actions in the game.

+ Thus far, I think the action RPG hasn’t been as dynamic. The story is also dark, and I hope even a person who has become interested in the series for the first time will want to play. To the TWEWY fans as well, because it’s the same staff, I think they can receive an intimate and touching feeling from the game.

Remember, the next issue of Famitsu Weekly, which releases about 24 hours from now, is also set to contain an interview with Nomura! This will likely be much longer.

The game's story doesn't develop much? But... Nomura said that the story was on par with the numbered titles! Ugh, fooled by Nomura again. D:

But the dark story part makes up for it. :P

Just a small thing here. A friend of mine(Tgirl) on GameFAQs has said that one of the lines weren't correct.

"Thus far, I think the action RPG hasn’t been as dynamic." should be "So far, I absolutely think the action RPG is considerably dynamic. "
"Koko made dynamic na action RPG ha nakanaka naito omou."

Thanks, but I'll wait until Oishii comes on and sees this before I go changing anything.

The "dark story" probably has to deal with Sora, Riku, and Master Xehanort.

Xian Cano, Mar 20 2012 03:15 PM

I just hope the game comes out soon in NA!!!!

Right. And iirc, Nomura liked Star Wars kinda XD (best argument ever XD)

As Xian Cano said, I think that he is more like Obi-Wan in this or at least I hope so. However, the irony is, that I DO think, that Xehanort will not die in the end. Something like in Avatar (the bald monk child) will happen or can someone imagining that Sora wills him like for real? XD

I think they would never have sora actually kill him... but i think there going to do some cheesy "Consumed by his own darkness" thing. although, sora actually killing him would be badass! :D

Dark story... Hmm, how dark we talkin' here? To a degree, most KH stories are somewhat dark. I hope this is the darkest yet, that would be awesome. I just really want something better than CoM's "slowly make you lose all hope of escape and take away everything you hold dear as you progress" dark story. Make me tremble at the tragedy, or despair, or something. Maybe actually "kill kill" someone, not just "kind of kill" them. I mean, how do you even die in Kingdom Hearts anyway? Apparently getting stabbed through the chest and other various injuries by weapon doesn't work to well.

Eh, either way I see potential in this game. Can't wait to play it. Though its release in Japan does mean nine days until I avoid this place like the plague, unfortunately. :/

If "dark story" means "not everybody will be saved" etc. then I am happy. Not that I am against a happy end but it feels kind of cheap how even dead people come back. As long as they don't bring Eraqus back (I really like him, but... well, come on...)

That would be nice, and he did go down like a hero (or man, or warrior, or epicly, or however you wish to say it). Unfortunately, it seems that people just can't stay dead in this series.
Also, great avatar. Mieu is awesome.

Oishii, Mar 20 2012 01:46 PM

Stupid front page won't let me update it with news -.-;;  I think DC messed up the coding for that.

Oh well, here's my translation:

"It has a dark story" funny the ones that have dark stories in this series are usually the best haha :P

Exodaze, Mar 20 2012 10:08 AM

So it is really confirmed that he has a next numbered title in mind (KH3).. :) I hope he does talks about kh3 though in this interview..!

It kind of inevitable for Eraqus to make a return :/ Nomura made it a point to point out the way Eraqus falls into Terra and the conversation that MX and Terra have in Blank Points. So he'll most likely return, even though it would be more dramatic if someone actually died.

I know about that, however, I thought that "this" Eraqus is more like an essence spirit thingie to protect Terra. If we follow (the changing  ) logic in KH then Eraqus cannot came back. Heh, it seems that the only way to die in KH is to be run over by a horde of gnus - let's toss Xehanort over an edge and observe how the gnus come and kill him... wahahahahhaa *cough*

How come you think Eraqus won't come back? To me, it seems like everything Nomura has done has pointed to Eraqus's return.

Xian Cano, Mar 20 2012 02:05 PM

I totally agree with void. this is an AMAZING game series, but come on, SOMEONE has to die and get things dramatic. And Eraqus is the perfect candidate! he can be like a spirit that watches over everybody like Obi-wan and Luke Skywalker.. IDK but someone seriously has to bite the dust it seems like everyone is immortal in this series now :/

OMG by Void i meant Henne XD sorry got confused

No, I agree that when people die they should stay dead. But it seems that Nomura is intent on bringing back everyone.

Luna☆, Mar 20 2012 10:01 AM

I bet some fan will take this the wrong way and start said that this game is a spinoff and that they want KH3 already. :/

Anyway I'm really excited for this game and a dark story I wonder what is going to happen can't wait to find out! :D
