3D Meaning Thread

I think it's 3 destinys as the word destiny has been used alot by Nomura lately, the whole three destinys could mean SRK/TAV/RAX share the same/different destinys. Or perhaps even it's supposed to be Ansem SoD, Xemnas and a 3rd new incarnation of Xehanort and in this game he will be the villain. 3 dreams would also fit, seeing as how it was implied that what Sora was expirencing for the most part on the 3D trailer was a dream.

3rd Door would by my guess. Here's my theory:

We know of the Door to Light and the Door to Darkness. Then it hit me: Keyblades. There are 3 types of Keyblades: Keyblades of the Realm of Light, Keyblades of the Realm of Darkness, and Keyblades of a person's heart.

This ties in with the theory I mentioned in another thread regarding the trailer. Sora and Riku are exploring their hearts, searching for the memories hidden within them in order to free everyone from torment. Perhaps in doing so, they discover this third door and gain access to a Keyblade created from their own heart.

And as a side note: no, I am not implying triple-wielding. Ven's Keyblade will return to him along with his heart, whenever that happens, and the whole thing with Destiny Place is just rather iffy at that. Since those Keyblades never really belonged to either Sora or Riku, this would allow them to continue dual-wielding in the future, which, once you think about it, is strangely an ability only those two have for some reason or another ^^

If it's "Three Dreams"... maybe there's a third playable character that hasn't been shown yet. Kairi?

if it's tied together, then it's 3.... something beggining with D...

yup, possibly 3 dreams. but knowing the kingdom hearts franchise, probably 3 destinys (which would be sora, riku and kairi)

Nobody you say? I've already know that the name will be unexpected. But we're thinking of theories for that make sense for the time being. I know Nomura enough that he will do that.

 

Also, this is a completely new game. It won't be 358/2 Days. C'mon now, you think people aren't thinking that the name will be unexpected and you think that the 3 could be 358/2 Days? That's sad. The point I was trying to make was how unexpected the names are. I know the game won't be called anything I said in the post, but it's the kind of thing you have to be thinking about. I'm not saying that the names for other Kingdom Hearts games names don't make any sense at all, but they don't make sense as human phrases. You don't say someone is born by sleep. There's not such thing as a chain of memories. Days also doesn't make sense. All of these names have a meaning that is attached to the game itself. A title like 3 Dreams isn't abstract like the others, it doesn't express an idea unlike something from reality.

I didn't think I'd have to spell it out for you, but here you go:

I'm not suggesting real names, I'm trying to tell you guys that the name has a very high chance of being strange, and nonsensical. Nobody knew what Birth By Sleep, 358/2 Days, or Chain of memories meant when they were announced. Nomura likes strange, abstract names, that can only be explained by playing the game.

This is the most likely scenario, 3 Dreams, or 3rd Dive, or whatever coul well happen.

I'm just not counting on it.

2) You did not mention human phrases. You just said the titles of the games don't make sense. So I'm going to slap you with that.

3) Why are you bringing other games into this? This is about 3D, not 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep, and Chain of Memories. Don't try to bring other games into this to prove your point.

4) You did not make a theory because you complained about unexpected names for 3D. Either don't participate in the thread by not posting or follow the the thread by positing theories. Simple as that, yet you failed to do a simple thing.

What I'm saying is that previous kingdom hearts games (Which I mentioned in my original post) have had abstract names that don't make sense unless used in context with the Kingdom Hearts world. I'm not trying to prove a point, I'm not arguing about anything. I'm trying to tell you guys that 3D probably stands fro something strange or unexpected, similar to how 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep, and Chain of Memories did. I don't think you are reading my posts very well, because your reply is basically a restatement of what you said before.

I'm not sure I should do this but I'm going to try again.

Kingdom Hearts is a confusing game. The introduction FMVs are almost entirely symbolic, with dissolving characters, random falling, and such. The games always introduce mysteries that have to be solved in future games, but also usually revolve around its own central mysteries. The titles of non-numbered Kingdom Hearts games are mysteries in themselves. You can't casually look at 358/2 Days and say 'Yeah, the name refers to the two main characters lives, spent over 358 days'

You can't look at Birth By Sleep and think 'Oh yeah, this refers to how sleep is related to Sora, and characters connected to Sora are born by sleep' You can't look at Chain of Memories and say 'This is talking about how Sora is being shackled to fake memories'

Kingdom Hearst games deliberately have abstract titles that cause the player to think and question what it means. I am convinced 3D will continue this tradition and use a title that, at a glance, doesn't make sense.

This is what I've been saying all along, I don't know how much more I can make this clear. Don't go using the 'You're changing your argument' line on me.

I'd have to say 3Dreams, but knowing Nomura, it'll probably be something that we never would have guessed, like 3Daisies.

Just look at Days and BBS. Would any of us have come up with those titles?

I don't know, we know to little about the game, when it takes place, what it's about. I know if younger sora, but is it before kh1? if so, I don't know. Or maybe it will be like coded, with data sora, and we don't even know about it. I wish to know more about this game!!!!!!

I have a fellling the D in 3D stands for deception(s). You know since the theme of the game is trust according to a recent interview.

i dont think itd be '3rd', since 3D, grammatically, shouldnt stand for 3rd. idk.

destiny sounds plausible, since nomura likes themes like destiny, fate, love, memories, etc.

I like the 3 Destines idea and mine sound a little weird but maybe like:

3 Distrusts (but it is a verb form so ehhh )

3 Duties

3 Dreams

3 Directions

I think it's 3 Destinies. I mean, Sora, Riku, and Kairi should all be following different paths. The title just makes most sense to me.
