Birth By Sleep "Help & Boss Guide" Thread

Posted

Here, other members can seek assistance for any general help throughout Birth by Sleep. This includes boss battles, reports, leveling, etc.

Please remember to be detailed, be grammatical, and do not post replies like "I BEAT SO-AND-SO!!!!" {Do that at the BBS "Chat" thread.}

This is a thread to help others learn strategies that may help them achieve their goals in the game. A member can post his/her strategy but please if a strategy is too long or consists of a large amount of scrolling then provide a link to the source, or if there is not a source please use spoiler tabs to shorten the post so we can keep this thread clean. Thanks.

Some already given information:

Instead of making countless threads about how you're stuck on a boss or with an event. Why don't we make a full thread that can encompass the whole lot?

buy the strategy gudie to help its more faster

The strategy guide only gives a slight outline for what to do. Not specifics, and specifics make things great

Fantastic idea Cricket I'll contribute as best as I can

Alright, give me the best strategy to annihilating Vanitas Sentiment.

Use mine square and use potions :P

I was wondering how to beat Vanitas Sentiment with Terra. And don't tell me use mine square and potions! Because I have tried that so please give me an actual explanation!

Seriously, and when it tells you to dodge, that is completely obvious, wait, when does it say that? oh and more errors, it gives the wrong directions, like for the prize pod in olympus, it says southwest, but it is southeast

Use mine shields and hi-potions. Renewal block and barrier will help too.

That strategy does work but usually VS dodges the move because they patched it up after they saw you could just spam that move to defeat VS in JP BBS. haven't had the chance to play BBS yet because i need a PSP so i cant help much :P. I remember watching a Justin.tv stream where the guy kept making VS run into a rock though so he could re-use some commands he had without worrying about getting hit 8).

All you need is mine square and mega potions but I also suggest being a higher level, like 70 or more. I beat VS on proud mode at level 99 with Terra using 2 mine squares in my deck and 6 mega potions in the deck. Just use slide dash to avoid pretty much everything. The hardest part fighting him is when he gets into that black ball and sends out those shadows cuz sliding dash can fail. Hope this is detailed enough for you

Heres the best strategy for VS. He uses Cure everytime you do so you MUST use 4 slots for potions instead thats 20 times to heal with less deck slots used and a slot for mine shied and square. Too many slots and your gonna make mistakes when your frantically trying to heal/attack.

ESSENTIAL abilities: Once More, Second Chance (obvious), ALL 6 Magic Hastes, Item boost, get your character's strongest finisher like Stratosphere for Ven, dont use attack dodges like thunder roll cause you'll lose your ability to defend yourself just use the normal ones. I recomend level 55 - 59 at least and invest time for the Ultima Weapon.

When you fight him I strongly recomend spaming Square as much as possible to have some hope of dodging. VS has plenty of invincible periods so use that time to read his attacks use X attacks when you can but dont try and go for combos. plant mines is how your doing most of the damage.

So dodge like hell, plant mines to launch him, X attacks when you can, et voila

How i beat Vanitas Spirit?

by using potions and mine square and tornado

How i beat Vanitas Spirit?

Your kidding right? We've put together a good few tactics in this thread already. Just use potions, spam square and mines [/color]

A WORD TO THE WISE, THE FOLLOWING STRATEGY ONLY WORKS FOR VENTUS' STORY. IT WILL NOT BE ACCESSIBLE FOR TERRA OR AQUA.

Another wonderful strategy for defeating Vanitas Remnant in Ventus' story is to equip him with two of the "Tornado" ability, which is only accesible by him. The only 100% way to meld this ability is with a maxed out Aeroga, and a maxed out Magnega. You can do double duty by throwing in a Pulsing crystal for the Second Chance ability it comes with.

Do it again, this time you can add any other crystal besides Pulsing to get a helpful ability. Nothing stands out speciffically as a good one, but they're all useful.

Equip both Tornado's into your deck, and go to the Keyblade Graveyard Twister Trench (which is were you should ALWAYS be when melding/levelling your abilities.). Once in a twister, summon Mickey, whom, if you have both emblems, can double the experience earned when defeating those enemies. This will make maxing out your commands go into superspeed.

With this strategy, the only other thing you'll need is two command slots for Potions, and two command slots for Mine abilities. If all goes welll, you want need any of them besides the two Tornadoes.

Leave Keybladegraveyard, the go straight back, only this time landing in the Badlands. Save your game here, ALWAYS.

Approach the dark orb with the broken gear hovering in front of a rock up ahead. Check your deck... make sure you have what you need. Here's how it has to look:

Tornado (x2 slots.) MAX

Tornado (x2 slots.) MAX

Mine Square. MAX

Mine Shield. MAX

Potion x5

Potion x5

~

Got it? Good.

Examine the glowing orb, choose "That's a danger I'm willing to face." out of the two option listed, and you find yourself in the battle. The very moment that you're in control of Ventus, lock on and hit Vanitas with your first Tornado. Which, if ordered in your deck the way I listed above, should be the first thing ready to go. If you fail to do it fast enough, Vanitas will go into his dark orb and send his shadow selves after you. Do not attempt to continue further, let him kill you, because you're not gonna be able to hit him with Tornado, which is already activated and can't be stopped, he'll hit you to one point HP, and thats all folks.

Press "Continue" instead of Retry. Because if you retry, your first tornado may not have fully reloaded yet, and you wont be able to hit Vanitas fast enough. Wait for all your abilities to be fully reloaded before heading back to the battle. (Make sure your abilities are still ordered correctly.)

So, if you DO succeed, and you catch him in the first tornado, move the analog to position Vanitas closer to you. Tornado (If Maxed, like I told you.) Wipes out a FULL HALF BAR of Vanitas' HP.

As soon as you see his bar hit half, get your finger on the triangle button, so the MOMENT he touches the ground from the first tornado, you can hastily press the triangle to get him in the second. Don't take a moment to breathe or a moment to blink, cause one split second to soon, or to late, can mean oblivion.

If you get him within the second, you can kind of get cocky, but thats good. Cause this second tornado gets him to precisely one point HP. So, the second he recovers, don't let up, hit him with a basic attack.

Voila! Congratulations, you pwned Vanitas.

Theres also a REALLY cheap way to beat him. Vanitas has an AI bug that when you move to the opposite side of the big rock you can use Raid attacks or Shotlocks until he dies without him attacking you

man im totally gonna remember this when i get this game

if you can repeat the fight with VS then i might try that

Alright, give me the best strategy to annihilating Vanitas Sentiment.

I've found with Aqua, make sure you have "Prism Raim" or something like that for Shotlock and to use "Time Spliter" and keep hitting triangle. Worked awesome for Briag & Van in Keyblade Graveyard.

I need help with Vanitas final boss battle (not VS). When you beat him, you have to face him in this place where you float and there are rocks in different colors everywhere xD Well, I can't beat him. When I use Dark Splicer and those to attack him, he attacks me at the same time and I lose all my HP pretty fast. And the gauge you have to fill to defeat him goes down if you wait a little while with attacking. i don't know what to do! D:

And I can't go back to get once more or something now, because I refuse to battle him in keyblade graveyard again -.- I had such problems with him there... But I'm thankful for any tips!

I need help with the Mimic Master in the Mirage Arena. I have no problem with it otherwise, the real problem comes when it scatters those cards all over the arena and makes clones of the character I'm playing as to attack me, and when I heal, it heals them instead. What do I do to get rid of them?

u gotta use the shotlock, just use it on him then it should initiate a sequence that either requires you to either tap the O button a bunch or rotate the anolog stick, if you get your beam on him you get a bunch of the command gauge filled, use that a few times and you will receive a finisher you can use to kill him

Use shot lock when he looks like he's about to attack. Use dark splicer when you think he's going to attack as well :P

Use a projectile type of shot lock command such as Bubble Blast, Flame Salvo, or Dark Volley when Mimic Master does that attack

Ven first fight against vanitas at keyblade graveyard

i keep getting hit by something i dont exepect

when i go near in to block and counter he slashes then he jumps into the ground attack then i die
