Axel (アクセル), Lea's (リア) Nobody, knew Saïx as a complete being and later became Organization XIII's eighth member as a Nobody. He appears throughout Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and in Kingdom Hearts II, during which he is destroyed.
Story
Lea, a complete being, originally knew Saïx's complete being. The two became Heartless and Nobody at one point, and joined Organization XIII sometime after the original six members joined, and before Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Here, Lea received the name Axel.
At the beginning of 358/2 Days, Axel is told by Xemnas to look after Roxas. The two spend time together, with Axel guiding Roxas on certain missions and afterwards, eating ice cream together on top of Twilight Town's clocktower.
Axel is later ordered, by Xemnas, to go to Castle Oblivion with the other Organization XIII members going, to prevent Marluxia in succeeding with his plans, beginning Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
In Chain of Memories, Axel works for two groups in Castle Oblivion. The first, including Marluxia and Larxene, are working to, using Sora, take over Organization XIII. The second group, who stay in the castle's basement, and are Vexen, Lexaeus and Zexion, are trying to use Riku to defeat Sora.
Axel is the first Organization XIII member that Sora faces in Castle Oblivion, and he throws the fight, testing Sora's abilities. Axel is later ordered by Marluxia to destroy Vexen, which he does in front of Sora in the castle's manifestation of Twilight Town.
Axel allows Naminé to escape and join with Sora, and later confronts Marluxia. Marluxia uses Naminé as a shield, and Axel prepares to attack him regardless, but is interrupted by Sora. Sora and Axel fight again, and Axel loses the fight.
Afterwards, Axel meets with Zexion in the castle's basement, and later orders the Riku Replica to destroy Zexion, which is done. This ends Axel's involvement in Chain of Memories, and he returns to the World That Never Was, continuing on with 358/2 Days.
Axel feels as if Roxas has replaced him with Xion, and the three begin spending time together as a trio. Later, Axel discusses with Saïx the friendship they had as complete beings, and also the plans they had to take over Organization XIII.
When Xion runs away, Roxas confronts her and tries to talk her into coming back, but Axel then uses force and captures her. Axel later captures Xion a second time, after a fight, and returns her to the Castle That Never Was. At the conclusion of 358/2 Days, Axel is seen feeling sad about the loss of Roxas from Organization XIII, and receiving a gift from Roxas, the WINNER icypole stick.
In Kingdom Hearts II, Axel is sent to the simulated Twilight Town to retrieve Roxas. He fails at this, and is ordered to either destroy Roxas or be destroyed himself. Instead, Axel attempts to bring Roxas back to Organization XIII again, but fails when Roxas is unable to remember his past.
Axel fights with Roxas in the basement of the simulated Twilight Town, and he loses the fight. Riku then has a discussion with Axel where Axel is trusted to protect Naminé. Later, Axel kidnaps Kairi with the intention of drawing Sora out, but hr loses her to Saïx.
Axel, going against orders, informs Sora of Organization XIII's plans to use him and apologizes for the kidnapping of Kairi, telling Sora where she is held. Later, Axel meets with Sora in Betwixt and Between, and helps him fight Nobodies. Axel puts all of his energy into a last attack which destroys the Nobodies, and also results in Axel fading away.
