#1934799 "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie" Trailer

Posted by Firaga Sensei on 23 March 2017 - 02:36 PM

Didn't see a thread for this, so I figured I'd make one.

Add this to the list of superhero flicks i want to see but probably won't be able to.

#1934187 Which other Disney movie should get a live action remake?

Emperor's New Groove.

And by ENG, I mean "Kingdom of the Sun".

Seriously, it's the perfect excuse to give that idea another shot.

Mr. Satan must be going senile. That's way more super-powered people to explain away, and more chances of him getting humiliated by little kids too. Didn't he learn anything from fighting Trunks? xD

was it ever established in KH2 that Nobodies look like their somebodies?

It didn't really need to be established, it was just accepted as common knowledge, Roxas and also Namine excluded because even in that time frame, they were being treated as special cases.

also i don't get the Tidus comment.

It's an old joke. xD Apparently, some people thought that Tidus was going to be playable in KH2 upon their initial reactions to seeing the Simulated Twilight Town footage.

Yessie brought up a good point. There is a junior division that goes along with these tournaments (or at least the more recent ones) so that should be addressed at some point.

#1933512 Naruto

Posted by Firaga Sensei on 16 March 2017 - 06:32 PM

Well, Shippuden's four hundredth and ninety ninth episode dropped, and that means we are, in fact, one episode away from the finale of Shippuden and by extension, the finale episode of the continuing Naruto anime franchise. Boruto not included, that's a different thread.

Just to give you a sense of how massive this show has become, here's how much Naruto has been on TV since its inception:

The first episode of the original Naruto anime aired on October 3, 2002 and ran until February 8, 2007 with a total of 220 episodes. One week later on February 15, 2007, in typical long-running anime fashion, the first episode of its sequel, Naruto Shippuden, aired and with the 500th episode coming up, the entire Naruto anime franchise will have consisted of 720 anime episodes and will have been airing semi-consistently for a grant total of 15 years.

What I'm trying to say is that I feel really old, guys xD. No but really: even though the original manga has been over for at least three years now, the anime has been our one source of keeping the brand alive, per se. Again, I don't include Boruto because in a way, it's a whole different realm entirely.

That's why I'm both happy and sad for the finale of Shippuden. Anybody who's followed anything for a really long time, especially since they were a kid, knows what it's like to finally see that thing come to an end, and for me, and I'm sure a lot of you people too, Naruto is one of them. It's a feeling of letting go but also of cherishing the moments and experiences you've felt along the way.

To think, all the way back in 2002, we were introduced to Naruto (well not "we" necessarily, but we as in kids in Japan who watched the anime and/or didn't read the manga) as a misfit little kid with a demon sealed inside of him with a ton of emotional baggage, and now after seeing him blossom into maturity over the years as both a teenager and now a grown man, we're going to experience him at the peak of his adult years with happiness and growth and marrying his soulmate. That's deep stuff right there.

I've had a good time with Naruto and I look forward to what his little kid shows us in his own show.

#1933363 "Boruto" | "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations"

So a while back, there was a trailer for the Boruto anime... but I forgot to post it. It was basically just footage taken from Naruto, Shippuden and Boruto the Movie and announced that there will, in fact, be a Boruto anime starting in April... so yeah, not really a huge loss.

However: a new trailer released some time ago and it actually does show footage from the upcoming anime:

I also found a (reliable) translation of a scan from Shonen Jump from this article from Spiraling Sphere that showed off character designs for Team Konohamaru and a summary/preview for the very first episode of the Boruto anime.

#1932638 "DragonBall Super"

Posted by Firaga Sensei on 12 March 2017 - 02:05 AM

Well, things have certainly gotten quiet around here (EDIT: excluding that last post just now because this was written before I asked him to do so just pretend he didn't just do that). I haven’t been posting news or spoilers as much because I realize there are not a lot of people want to see spoilers on the thread or they just don’t care.

However, to rectify this, as well as take advantage of the fact that there’s no new episode this week, I whipped up a special treat for this thread’s followers in hopes of enlightening them on my own personal thoughts with Super thus far as well as maybe inspire some more talkback in the thread:

I am counting down my top 10 favorite things about DragonBall Super. I was going to name it a favorite “moments” list but then I realized some of these aren’t really moments as they are, well, “things”, basically anything I find positively awesome or noteworthy that the show has given us so far which can range from themes, ideas, characters, battles, etc.

So without further ado…

And that concludes my very long countdown. Please feel free to comment on my choices and leave your own lists if you want (which will probably be a lot shorter than my own xD).

#1932636 "Steven Universe"

Posted by Firaga Sensei on 12 March 2017 - 01:57 AM

Oh yeah, I made this thread. xD

(On a side note, I really want to do a Steven Universe RP. I've already created two new Gems for it and I'm excited to give them ago. I tried one previously here, but it only had one sign up. If someone wants to make a new one or if they want me to rewrite this, I'm totally down! I'll work on making it simpler or something...)

(I'm interested in either option.)

Just one look in his eyes sends the fangirl's hearts all a flutter... or you know, they cream, which is the more obvious outcome, but still.
