Dissapointed in the KH community

Okay, firstly I wish I never went around snooping for information on KH3 in the first place. I looked at the job listings for the first time in over 8 months just to see if anything had been added discretely in the job description that could hint towards some inside information like for example, "work on creating a snowy environment" or, "physics engineer for a galaxy far far away." Then, I came across the job lighting artist and I saw the words "Writing in KINGDOM HEARTS III" and "post-production" so I thought I would let people know to let them speculate and have their own thoughts on the matter.

 

I never approached the news team regarding this and when I woke up the next morning and saw they had turned it into an article I thought, "great, this way it will bring it to more peoples attention, we can speculate, get excited and more fans will know about this hidden piece of info." However people have been saying, as a direct result of my actions, that kh13 and the news team have been reporting false information and literally giving them abuse, which I see as bullying and intimidation. kh13 is here to bring fans together from all over the world, to talk about the Kingdom Hearts franchise, have friendly debates, to bring news no matter how big or small, which then allows fans to speculate and keeps us updated on the franchise. 

 

Now from what I have seen transpire across social media towards kh13 and certain individuals, who have literally took time out of their day voluntarily, to research and write news to us, I think these people on social media are an absolute disgrace and it's appalling and disgusting behaviour. At the end of the day: It's a game. A game. Yes, it will always have a special place in our lives but when it comes to the point where a number of people in the community are giving others abuse, just because the game may be entering post-production, then, I'm sorry but please take a look at your priorities in life and maybe these people need to find a better outlet. Instead of getting so focused on a video game to a point where they feel if the slightest bit of information is not to their liking, they then throw their dummy out of the pram and they act as though kh13 has committed a crime. It's a game that will be released eventually so what's the issue if certain parts of the information are speculative? The information will not change the release date or the final quality of the game so there's no point in harassing others over speculative pieces of information that are designed to start a conversation amongst the community. 

 

I came back on kh13 after six months. After researching Kingdom Hearts for the first time since then I've tried to bring people interesting little points here and there, that would get fans discussing different aspects of the franchise. But all that's done is cause a massive backlash for kh13 who has done nothing but give, give, give to the community since it was first launched. We wouldn't have know that there was a play-arts KH3 Sora or a KH world tour orchestra happening next year if it wasn't for the kh13 news team. Unfortunately some people seem to forget how much this site has given to the community over the years. If these people weren't so fixated with a video game then maybe they would have a better outlook in life, with a better attitude and more respect for other people who are just trying to help. 

 

These issues of behaviour are not directed to anyone on kh13 that I know of.

I am kinda disappointed too. It really hurts to see that our news writers, who take time out of their free time and daily lives to write in-depth news articles for the community, is receiving any hate. I understand if you don't like us, but no need to discredit us and say that we are reporting false news. KH13 has been my home as a staff member for over a year now, and I've always loved the happy faces people got when I wrote about a new Kingdom Hearts III trailer or a piece of 2.8 artwork. 

 

We've received tremendous support on Twitter even with some backlash towards KH13, so I'm glad the community/fandom still understands how we've reported news.

Enough of the jokes anyway. This place is the main source of information for most of the so called 'KH youtubers' out there as well as KHinsider, they owe this site a lot yet I never see them mention this site when they upload news videos or even credit it, how disrespectful.

 

These 'fans' that attack KH13 are probably the same people that cry when they don't get release dates and such. As the community expands we should expect more toxic people to join. That's just how it is sadly.

 

They criticise the site but tomorrow morning they'll be checking the site for more information .

 

I'll defend this site to death since it's helped me become more social and I've gained a lot of friends here too. It's sad to see this happen. At the end of the day KH3 is just a videogame, a piece of plastic and a collection of data.

Well, every community have people like that, and the KH one is no different. We just... can't do too much about them. I'm sorry to hear that KH13 got accused of such things, that's a shame. That's just people for you, all it is is they've been waiting for the game for so long now they don't know what to do with their pent up tension. News comes out that their tension might soon be lifted, and subconsciously they act in disbelief and denial and because they can't go and ask square for confirmation they take it out on their only connected outlet, which is unfortunately their fellow fans.Short end of the stick, people suck but they don't mean anything by it.

Well said. We highly appreciate all the work the News Team have done. It's incredible, it has kept us updated and most of all, is one of the incriminating factors that has kept KH13 alive. To say they are providing false information is wrong. So what if it was said that KH3 is in post production? You said it yourself that it was mere speculation. You did nothing wrong and I'm sorry to see you accused of something that you weren't intending to do. Unfortunately, there will always be those toxic players in every community, whinning about release dates, complaining that the game isn't coming to the platform they want it too and all sorts of dumb things. The people who work on these games don't get enough credit. It's a tough job. They take hours out of their lives to provide us with such beautiful works and all people do is just demand it's release then complain that the game is full of bugs and glitches. So whose fault is that? The community's fault, for putting so much unnecessary pressure on the developers. Like Pancake said, these are probably the same people as the ones complaining about this "false information" Anyway, KH13 is an important forum to me and to see people who just throw insults here after all this site has given is depressing.

Now that's such a shame. I 100% percent respect what this community does to get news and have others take their time out of the day. That abuse and bullying is not right man not my vibe too laid-back for that. I'm sorry you guys have to deal with these kind of fans most of the Kingdom Hearts Community can be pretty clean but I guess every Community has their bad spots.Unfortunately Humanity is an imperfect species. Sounds like what good people do in life. They give and yet are crucified for it by irrational people. It's that stupidity and irrationality that create that injustice. That's why I will never take for granted the work the staff here does. This is a direct result of ignorance and that deliberate choice of being ignorant is a sin. All you throwing the accusations of false information, how on earth do you know it is? Can you prove it? If your answer you do and yes respectively, then tell us all and the staff and we will take back every word spoken here. The KH community always disappointing the mess out of me, when something's announced, they take it like the product is almost done. *"HYPE" ensues* 

 

I know when I read about the job openings yesterday, plus my online friend on Facebook tagging me under a post regarding this, I only took it like they're hiring again. Never thought they were almost finish with 3. And I even told my online friend: "Well, we just have to wait till winter." (Cause I'm like: "It's just all about job openings. Nothing big...") The emotion I felt: Neutral and exhausted from the studying....

 

Other than that, I'm very thankful for the News Team, of all they have done. I would never accuse them of something like that. I still say: "One should look before they leap." And majority of the KH community leaped before looking.

Oh wow, so this latest development has received its fair share of a backlash, huh?  That's just messed up!  In the end, the info you gathered was as you said, for us to speculate and hype up, but some people just take these things too seriously, and then they disappoint themselves and pin the blame on someone else! Like, seriously, we all love this franchise, so why can't we simply get along?  It was never confirmed that the game was in post production, the job listing merely said that general post production would be WORKED on!

But hey, don't let this get you down, News Team!  As a member who's been here for five whole years, you guys have never once let me down, and you've always been extremely helpful in providing us with news regarding the franchise!  If it weren't for you guys, I think I wouldn't have gotten a hold of all these news articles and Nomura interviews, ya know?  Please, I beg of you, know that your work does go appreciated!  I appreciate everything you guys and gals do to bring smiles to our faces with Kingdom Hearts news that is hype worthy, and I say, continue to do your work!  Remember that there will always be people trying to bring you down, but remember that there are those people that support you, like all of us!  Moderators, News Team, remember, you guys are strong, so don't get discouraged by the raging from senseless people!

Hey, I am just over here not really playing KHX at the moment because of Pokemon Go and my replay of The Wind Waker HD and so basically I am over here in my own bubble and so I have no idea what is going on with KH at the moment. But I do know I have been staying out of everyone's way this month, and mainly just trying to find time to play games and post in a RP and try to juggle my summer and family altogether. So basically, what I am saying is, I am just going to sit back and watch you all fight it out if need be, but I just hopefully am not a part of those KH fans you guys don't like. And I do agree with you that the community are mostly terrible but some aren't and I think that is the way it is for almost every community. Anyways, I am going to go back to my bubble and just watch you all get into this.  I do and will stand by this website and I support our news team, so I hope this news team can overcome this!

This just infuriates me. Those people have no right to attack this site for something they didn't do, just because they cannot firetrucking wait for KH3 and let their hype and desperation cloud their judgement. When did this whole "KH3 is in post-production" schtick surface, anyway? That was never the intent of the job listing.

Ever since I got back into the fandom in 2010 I've seen a lot of toxic and ridiculous things.

 

1. People assuming odd things about the characters, things not even mentioned or anything, either to troll or just because they personally want it so

 

From fanart and fanfiction that, while fine as a joke, were serious and were pretty immature and ignored everything the series is about, in terms of the massages in kingdom hearts, and completely ignoring them.

 

People ignoring the fact that they are fictional characters and not white american kids, just because they are white american kids. Reading a fanfiction intended to be serious about the characters going to an american style school was one of the biggest cringe moments I've had in this fandom. If anything at all, they would probably look like/similar to Japanese people, to be blunt with you. Of course, the characters are not Japanese because ''Japan'' doesn't exist in KH, that's not my point, in fact, what I'm saying is they have no nationality, which is true.

 

I've seen it the other way, as well, reading a fanfiction about Kairi's school being a sterotypical anime high school(Thanks selphie), with basic words weaboos use all the time strewn in it, was, also, one of the biggest cringe moments I've had in this fandom. Square makes unique as hell school environments thank you very much. FF anyone? Just because they probably would look Japanese, doesn't mean they are. Master Eraqus gets closet to it (because he's based on someone at square) but he's still not actually Japanese. He's a dude from the land of departure. They put elements of their own culture in because they think it looks cool, and because it's natural that when creating something your own beliefs and such influence it. But they are still fictional, hence, not from any country on earth. And isn't that much more awesome anyway?

 

So that all said, why, seriously why, do people actually think they are Americans which makes even less sense than them being Japanese which, still doesn't make much sense. They are fictional characters from a fictional place. Yet, people in this fandom have a hard time accepting this like a video game character not being of any nationality is shocking. I guess If I play the french dub that makes them french. Omelette du keyblade 

 

That is only one of the ridiculous things I have seen real KH fans do 

 

I wish I could put it down to just immaturity and refusing to accept the characters as they are. ''No, they have to be like this, how I want them'' ''Only *insert ship here* is allowed to be canon''.

 

It's the attitude I have a problem with. If you write or draw them in a different way to be creative that's perfectly fine, go for it, but if you become so delusional that you think that's how they have to be always or how they must be in canon, and get upset when they don't get shown as that in canon, that's what I find annoying.

 

Ignoring the actual characterisation of the characters, which you can read about in just about any piece of text square has written for the games or any Nomura interview, and acting like YOUR fan-made characterisation is the canon one. And what happens when the character acts like how Nomura wants and not how like they imagine until they think it's true? They throw a hissy fit, a major hissy fit. This will probably only get worse when KH3 comes out as Nomura has always had his own idea, and everyone else has their own. 

 

If you would like a character to have a certain development in the future or just see them differently to others, again, that's fine, heck, that's normal. But here's what I'm talking about, and when you have a problem:

2. Refusing/Arguing about facts in the series

I'm sure Flaming Lea knows alll about this one. She's had to correct more people and anyone else on this site probably. Except that sometimes people get stubborn even when she shares nomura's own words. Once people latch on to a rumor or theory too much when it gets debunked they can't accept it.

 

3. Spreading misinformation and acting like jerks

How is a job listing "false information"? That's literally the opposite of false information as long as it's from an official site. And one other thing, someone was talking about how people don't like being corrected. I don't mind being corrected on some things if it's relevant and is actually adding to the conversation but when it's something completely bloody pointless like the size of a character's shoes or something silly and you still have that one guy whose like "NO ACTUALLY SORA'S EYE COLOUR IS BROWN WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?!"... Yeah that annoys me. Excersise a bit of self awareness, it's a game about a boy who fights Disney characters using a big metal key that looks like the most impractical weapon ever. You don't need to take it so seriously.
