Hey guys! . The Forum Lounge is usually dry when it comes to real world ish topics since this is a site based around a videogame franchise , but I'd like to change that a little.

 

Depending on the feedback from this thread, every week I'll make one of these discussions using a topic you guys have suggested (PM me) or that I've wanted to talk about. Since I'm a realist and I've seen what religious and political debates on this site can cause, so we'll avoid topics centered around those.

 

^ This does not mean that your opinion towards a topic cannot be based off of your own religious belief.

 

Topics could be things such as: (These are partial examples but we can debate these as well)

 

Can Nationalism and Patriotism sometimes promote xenophobia? (Xenophobia=Fear of people from countries that are foreign to your own)

 

Are humans the smartest life form?

Should we still be eating meat?

How harmful is pornography to relationships?

What is the most important thing for a successful relationship?

What is your definition of 'Love'?

Are people born evil?

 

 

No opinion is invalid, so even if you don't know too much about the topic and would like to contribute, feel free. Obviously we're all scared of Flaming Lea so none of us will step out of line. You can write as much as you like and of course, you can challenge another persons argument as long as you are respectful

 

Rules will be pasted into the OP of every discussion, so read them

 

If you are interested in this, please like this post so I know how many people would be likely participate. (I don't want to be wasting my time and then have only 1 to 2 people turn up. ) If you've reached quota and can't like the post but you want to, just post in here.

I like this idea. I think it could make for some really interesting and fruitful discussion depending on the topic. I don't have any to suggest right now but I would look forward to reading and possibly participating in these if you do decide to go through with it. Also lmao at "we're all scared of Flaming Lea"

it could work as long as we avoid topics like politics and religion( apparently, gaming consoles too) since people tend to start fighting over them

Because it's the perfect gif for this occasion  And yes agreed it's a great thread idea.

I've reached quota but thanks all. I'll definitely start this up, maybe tomorrow can be our first one, or I may start it next week. Either way it'll happen

Hmm, you know Shinobi, you've caught my attention with this thread!  I'm certainly interested to see which topics shall be discussed about here!  Obviously, with respect towards other's opinions, I'll gladly partake in discussions with you guys about various real life topics!  I'm looking forward to your first topic!

This is a wonderful idea. I'll definitely join in the discussion any time I can. Also, this could spice up the forums a little during the dry seasons, so at least we have things to discuss. I especially like the topics you have chosen. I'll give in a topic for discussion when I think of one.

This will be fun! I love these kinds of discussions! I'll try to join in on some whenever I can ^-^

I know that I would certainly be interested in partaking in interesting topics and sharing various ideas with others. I like that it is so organized and that you'll be bringing topics to the table like this. I would participate!
