Firaga 5,947 Posted February 25, 2017 (edited) So supposedly that mark that Boruto has been granted is the curse mark? He has a cube on his hand I believe. Pretty much. It's no doubt tied to Momoshiki's destiny plot in some way. Maybe it'll act as the trigger for what he believes is the catastrophic event that Boruto will cause and then, I don't know, swear allegiance to him like Sasuke (kinda) did for Orochimaru. Of course, this whole mark thing also brings up the question of how he unlocks the Byakugan given what we've seen in Chapter 1. Also, that Kawaki guy seems to be using the same powers as Boruto does in that same chapter so maybe he got a mark as well? Maybe he's also apart of Momoshiki's scheme as a sort of inverse Will of Fire vs Curse of Hatred where he sets the two up to fight and end the entire shinobi world given what Kawaki was prattling on about. That's pretty much all I can speculate on, we still have an entire month for the new stuff to kick in and it probably won't even all be addressed in favor of some more original material. It's kinda weird but also exciting how we've been given all this information in what might take even more time to develop near this manga's climax which, for all we know, might take as long as the original series. In chapter one Boruto looks around 16/17 but at the end of the movie he's only around 13. I wonder if we'll jump back to that scene in chapter one, or the story from chapter 11 will begin right from where the movie left off. Also, Kawaki must have had backup/a group with him, he couldn't have soloed the entire village. 1 Firaga reacted to this

The 13th Kenpachi 4,279 Posted February 27, 2017 (edited) Read chapter 10 in weekly shonen jump Sasuke definitely knew what was going on here, whilst Naruto was frozen in time Sasuke activated the Rinnegan and was looking around with it. Momoshiki also tells Boruto that his blue eyes will take everything away from him (official translation) and that 'those who defeat Gods cannot remain ordinary individuals'. Hmph! This could also apply for Naruto, Sasuke and even Sakura since they sealed Kaguya. I believe that this fight's aftermath is basically the genesis for everything else that will happen in Boruto's life. The cube on Boruto's hand is really small too, not very noticeable. Good setup for the rest of the story, Shinki seems like he may go rogue or rebel against Gaara and Kankuro. Can't wait to read the next one! Oh btw Pierott is making the Boruto anime now. Premiering on April 5th, so now they've got this and Black Clover to animate weekly! Edited February 27, 2017 by The 13th Kenpachi

It's been running for ten chapters and just got done recapping with the events of the movie with some differing elements and foreshadowing to new events. The anime runs under the same name and therefore will be an adaption of that. And like Shulk said, there's more content too. I have some listed on the first page. The new chapter I actually do need to read so fair enough. It's important to know for the manga's and the anime's storyline, so you should probably keep them in mind. (Do they plan on animating Gaiden and Scarlet Spring?) "Gaiden" and "Scarlet Spring" are the same thing. The full title of that work is "Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring". But no, there's no official confirmation for adaption. It might be apart of the Boruto anime or it might not be, we're not sure at the moment. 1 Shulk reacted to this

Firaga 5,947 Posted March 16, 2017 So a while back, there was a trailer for the Boruto anime... but I forgot to post it. It was basically just footage taken from Naruto, Shippuden and Boruto the Movie and announced that there will, in fact, be a Boruto anime starting in April... so yeah, not really a huge loss. However: a new trailer released some time ago and it actually does show footage from the upcoming anime: I also found a (reliable) translation of a scan from Shonen Jump from this article from Spiraling Sphere that showed off character designs for Team Konohamaru and a summary/preview for the very first episode of the Boruto anime. || WARNING: The following content is considered spoilers and will be treated as such. Firaga 5,947 Posted April 2, 2017 (edited) As we draw closer to the premiere of the Boruto anime, the eleventh chapter of the manga has been leaked, and following that, the start of a new story arc. My thoughts: Well, looks like this might be a bit of a slower arc compared to the more fast paced nature of the opening arc. Kinda reminds me of several things, most notably the pilot of the original Naruto manga. And you know, I always appreciate stories like that. Seeing Naruto, or in this case Boruto, isolated gives him a bit of more of a personal journey, for obvious reasons of course because instead of being in a team with other people, he's by himself, and thus the focus of the dilemmas and whatnot squarely fall onto him and the supporting character, in this case Boruto and Tento. Speaking of Tento, I have to admit, I really like his smarmy ass. Most people get annoyed by rich kid characters, and I do too, but there's just something about those types that have that level of almost feigned ignorance that make me chuckle. Maybe it's also because I just like that he's condescending but with a good nature to him. People like that are entertaining to me, even with the standard traits that fall into his archetype. Other than that, I don't much to comment on, the set-up seems fairly nice, the new villain sounds interesting and all... I do have to speak up on something though and it doesn't really have to do with the chapter itself, more of an overall complaint with the manga... and what I'm referring to is Sarada's goddamn outfit. Look, I'm okay with Ikemoto doing his own thing aesthetic wise, it doesn't bother me, it's an artistic choice and I respect that. What I don't respect is that Sarada is overwhemingly underage and yet I feel like he is exposing her as a somewhat fanservice-y character. She has her personality and motivation and all that, which is great, but just the way she looks in some panels in this chapter alone... It didn't bug me at first because I didn't pay attention to it, and that's probably because he showing it as pronounced before, but I'm starting to feel uncomfortable. I don't still mind the outfit that much, maybe lose the heels and cover her up a bit, but yeah, that's pretty much the only negative I can bring up about the chapter. EDIT: (4/5/17) The first episode of the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime has finally released! My thoughts: Well, that was definetly an interesting/different way to start off this show. (Not the Kawaki thing, we've seen that already, I mean the episode in general.) Lots of different moments here and there that really set the tone for what's to come, not to mention that the animation is as good as it's been ever since Shippuden starting doing "The Last" era content. Co-protagonist Denki i.e. if Shulk was an anime character actually stood out more than I thought he would, which does make sense because he and a bunch of other new Boruto classmates look like they'll have a prominent role in the anime series going forward. Speaking of standing out, lots of plot heavy stuff being put on us, like Boruto having the Tenseigan(?) plus the weird chakra snake that "infected" Denki. Orochimaru foreshadowing? All in all, I really liked what I saw and next week looks even better because that big kid with the opening is in it and I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy what he has to offer. Has nothing to do with him being similar to a certain OC I made, nope, not at all... Shulk 8,623 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Alright, time to round up my thoughts on both the new chapter (since I forgot to) and the first episode of the anime! First off, the manga: Like Firaga said, the new arc's starting off a bit slow, but given that we just finished up Boruto battling two members of the Otsutsuki clan, I think that kind of makes sense. I'm curious about the new villain, and I like Tento, too. He's a snob, sure but he's a funny one. Also, that whole trading card game is a pretty funny little thing to have in there. I bet that the one Boruto's after is the same one Tento got... I also have to agree with Sarada being kind of... weird now. She seems a little more flirtatious in this chapter, too. Hopefully it won't get too out of hand. That aside, I really enjoyed the chapter! And now for the anime... I really liked this episode, too! It's a great start for the series. The animation was incredible, and I really liked Denki. It seems like he'll be around for the long haul here, so I'm interested in seeing how he develops as a ninja. I am curious about that weird chakra, though... I doubt it's Orochimaru since he's under close supervision by Yamato, but the image of the snake still makes me wonder... Boruto's weird eye thing flaring up in response to it also caught my attention. We've got some pretty big mysteries already in just the first episode, and this is just Boruto's time in the academy! Also, the other new characters caught my attention. Namely, the big guy who Boruto's fighting in the next episode and the purple haired girl who's hanging out with Sarada and Chocho. Both were in the opening and seemed like they'll be around for a while, so I'm excited to learn more about them. This was a fantastic episode overall, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here! Also, on a final note, Boruto's entrance to the entrance ceremony was incredible. I do feel bad for Naruto, though... Oh, forgot something. I get the feeling that Denki and Kawaki might be connected, since Denki's chakra made Boruto get that tenseigan-looking eye, and he also had it while fighting Kawaki. Co-protagonist Denki i.e. if Shulk was an anime character Heeey, I'm not that much like him... Has nothing to do with him being similar to a certain OC I made, nope, not at all... There's a purple haired girl, too... Edited April 5, 2017 by Shulk 1 Firaga reacted to this
Firaga 5,947 Posted April 12, 2017 Second episode of the anime has aired! Not only did Boruto have to literally be suspended from school for two weeks after he first started class but even when he comes back, people are still egging him on about the train... Reality Ensues is a bitch. Also, new guy Iwabe is A) big and strong B) temperamental C) uses Earth Style... seriously, I feel slightly ripped off here. If he starts using Wind Style through some use of Seven Breaths/Hamon type technique, then I'm officially suing somebody. On that same note: I don't know why but Iwabe makes me think of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Nice to see that Inojin inherited Sai's total lack of f*cks given. I was honestly not sure how much he would contribute this week, but he pulled it off well. Next week looks even more fun because of course, METAL LEEEEEEE is on the scene!
TheKeyofRose 282 Posted April 22, 2017 So my general thoughts on the first two episodes is great and honestly I went into it thinking it to be on par with after pain Arc Naruto Thanks for proving me wrong because instead these episodes have been amazing so far and have left me speculating a whole bunch of things that the Manga otherwise hasn't. Now in terms of Episode 3 I loved it I like how Metal Lee is different yet has similar characteristics (We still have no clue who his mom is dough.) The humor is spot on 'Inb4 Boruto taking a Demon Wind Shuriken to Shuriken practice...' Turns out its Iwabe's and it's like 'W-why does he have that inside his locker they aren't even on the field yet they are only in training XD' The action is spot on and the animation is consistent which is great and I like the plot or what of it we have... I still can't fully judge any characters because I'd like them to have their moments and screentime first or else I'll just come off as nitpicky but certain ones do stand out as weak though from what I can tell none that seem to be extremely important to the plot anyway. One issue I see that appears to be a common issue with people (Not myself) is that the new gen is just OP right off the bat... While I don't particularly have an issue with this they are sorta the children of some pretty OP Shinobi and all it only makes sense... I can see why people dislike it people think these kids haven't earned anything or are gonna struggle and thus it can take away from tension but tbh that's not how I see it as long as the villains are far more threatening and especially so if they can pull off the genuine fear like part 1 Orochimaru could I mean just hearing that guys theme got me on edge... Can't wait to see where this goes as for my rankings of the episodes so far. EP 1: 4.5/5 EP 2: 4/5 EP 3: 5/
Shulk 8,623 Posted April 27, 2017 There's a lot to talk about with this episode... This was another great episode as usual, but the thing I think I like most about it is how it gave us a look into a lot of these characters while still being really light-hearted. We saw Sarada's cool shuriken jutsu techniques, and Metal Lee catching them all was great too. Boruto wanting to summon snakes obviously brings him closer to Sasuke. I liked a lot of the stuff we saw of the secondary characters, though. We finally got to see the pigtails girl and her friend in action, and they both seem interesting. First off, there's... well, this: So she's the shy girl who happens to be really crazy, too. However, one thing caught my eye with her friend... She's got a little cat tail accessory. That gives me the idea that she's got some connection to cats, and while I doubt it since she's an anime-original character, the idea of her being related to Kiba/Tamaki in some way came to mind. It'd be cool if they had a kid to join in with the others, but since this is kind of a filler character, I also doubt that. We also got to see a bit more of Sumire (AKA Class rep) this time around, and she's definitely shaping up to be my favorite of the secondary characters. She seemed kind of like she'd end up being just another shy girl like Hinata was, but she's more talkative and obviously takes on a lot of responsibility. She's a fun character, and I'd like to see her in action soon here. Of course, her victory in the competition was great, too. To finish up talking about all the students, I found this little chart of all the academy students (P stands for primary, S is secondary, T is tertiary): Some of the tertiary characters have pretty generic designs so I doubt they'd do much, but I feel like the ones with more unique designs could become more important as time goes on. The ribbon girl (Who has the nickname of Hex Maniac from the community, which I like so let's go with that ) and ponytail girl (12T) both stood out to me in this episode and some older ones, and 8T and 21T need to become more important too. I really like all of the students in Boruto's class, and I do hope that we'll see more of them over time. And, of course... I have to talk about that ending. It looks like Mitsuki might be connected to that weird chakra after all. I'm really curious to see where the next episode goes. Given that we know his backstory, I doubt he's going to end up being evil or anything, but still, he's acting very mysterious. Also, since we get a new crazy theory for this every week... MITSUKI IS KAWAKI NEW THEORY LET'S GO! Also, in other Boruto related news, a bonus omake came out (Thanks to the Naruto subreddit for putting this one up, it's where I got the chart too). Link to it is right here. 1 Firaga reacted to this

MITSUKI IS KAWAKI NEW THEORY LET'S GO! I agree, Ponytail Girl seems really dynamic, and I dig her a lot. Maybe it's just because I like her hairstyle combined with her outfit as well as the fact that she has a bit of a tougher, deeper voice than most of the other girls, but I want to see her do more stuff. Although I still want to see more from Pompadour and Emo Loli Girl. Other people who stick out to me now are the girl with the arm warmer things (26T), kid with the mask (8T), and kid with glasses, scar, suit and tie (15T). And yes, Cat Girl should be KibaTama offspring. Furries confirmed in the Narutoverse. But man, that summon. For a second, I thought Boruto summoned, like, the monster form of Momoshiki from the movie, it was that crazy. Still, first we learn that the locked Tensei-Byaku-whatever-gan is in him, but now he's summoning demons? And does this thing have any connection to the weird chakra monster that possessed Denki and Metal? The preview for next week's episode hinted at that. All I do know is that I'm betting that since Mitsuki is getting involved, Orochimaru is probably instigating this because this is the kind of thing that has his handy work written all over it. He might be on steady terms with the Leaf, but there's no way that he's just fiddling around with lab experiments in his base for fun all day, he has to have another plan up his sleeve. I still remember the end of the Boruto movie teasing that he might be a future antagonist for this series, and I stand by that notion.
