September 20, 201510 yr 2017, I doubt 2.9 will be a thing because 2.8 + 0.0 = 3.0. In all honesty, Nomura only made 2.8 it to bring about the prologue of KH3, and to keep us busy. It's likely that KH3 could be out by 2017, I'm sure of it. Edited September 20, 201510 yr by KHLegendIII
September 20, 201510 yr 2017 - 2018. But not before late 2017 though. Edited September 20, 201510 yr by Sakuraba Neku
September 20, 201510 yr Late 2017 (December) at the earliest. I honestly think it will be released in the second half of 2018, or even at the begining of 2019.
September 20, 201510 yr mid to late 2017. I expect them to show an official trailer for the game that will show things that will actually be in the game at e3 2017 and then probably showing us the release date then. I could be wrong though.
September 20, 201510 yr Early 2017 for sure. There isn't anyway that it is going to release as a Fall 2017 title. We are almost done with 2015 now, all we have to do to is wait one more year beginning from January. If Square were to delay the game, which they won't, the latest we will see it is Summer 2017. This would be excusable and to me, an absolutely fine time to release the game. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue consists of three games, one of which is the length of an actual game and one equating to the length of one Disney world. Despite having to tweak Dream Drop Distance to suit the PlayStation 4, it definitely isn't going to take long. If we look back at the LinkedIn leak, we can see that it has been worked on for 10 months now, at least that's what this developer explicitly says. We should expect 2.8HD next year either before or during summer. Kingdom Hearts III will follow several months later, which is only logical.
September 20, 201510 yr I have been so willing and wanting to be out this year, but Nomura says I am not done. I am not even done enough to make release next year. I think he have me release in 2017.
September 20, 201510 yr Author 2018, maybe. 2019, no. u don't know nobody does, apparently with SE whatever you think you know IS WRONG!!!!
September 20, 201510 yr If they're announcing worlds and revealing large elements of gameplay, it's definitely going to be a 2017 release.
September 20, 201510 yr I have stated this multiple times: I honestly don't care when the game is released. I just want it released worldwide. Peace! Edited September 20, 201510 yr by Yuya Sakaki
September 20, 201510 yr Honestly i hear him say that KH3 is farther away than fans would think, so what i am think if most fans said 2017, i'm going to add one year to that. So mid to late 2018.
September 20, 201510 yr Lets just face the reality that its NEVER going to get released, its vaporware & nomura is trolling us.... But in all seriousness 2017 december most likely.

It's likely that KH3 could be out by 2017, I'm sure of it. Um, 2.8 + 0.0 = 2.8. I know math is hard and sucks, but that's basic addition buddy. XD" Anyway, yeah, I'm sticking with 2017. I always thought that was when it would be released, optimistically speaking, no matter how many people kept insisting that it would be releasing this year or 2016. Although if 2017 is the soonest it could be released, then that must mean the team might be in the middle of a rut at the moment. Luckily they made it clear that 3 taking too long is the reason they are making 2.8, and it isn't the other way around. Despite that, I'm sure there's still going to be a lot of people on this site and other sites that will still say 2.8 is a waste of time and that it's the reason that 3 is taking so long and blah blah blah. They've said it about the handheld games, they've said it about 2.5, and they'll still say it about 2.8, even after getting a disclaimer from Nomura saying that it isn't the case. Either way tho, we'll at least have two games to keep us busy in the mean time, Unchained X and 2.8 . I still feel like 2.9 might be a thing until Nomura flat out says it isn't, but it could go either way. After all, 2.8 + 0.2 does = 3, but you could also argue that it's 2.8 because it's like 2.5 + 0.3 titles. I have to say though, the only problem I have with naming the episode 0.2 is because by the time Aqua starts investigating the strange goings on in the RoD, the counter says 0.5. So would the title 0.2 suggest that that's when the counter starts, or is it purely there to symbolize either Volume 2 or the gap between 2.8 and 3? Well, in either case, it sounds like it's the closest thing to a 3 demo we'll get so far, or rather a Kingdom Hearts Ground Zeroes, unless Nomura says that 2.9 could happen. We'll see. Early 2017 for sure. There isn't anyway that it is going to release as a Fall 2017 title. We are almost done with 2015 now, all we have to do to is wait one more year beginning from January. Eeeehhhhh, considering how slow Nomura said things were being, I think Summer and even Fall 2017 is a little too optimistic. Just because that would be the PERFECT time of the year for that to happen, doesn't mean that it will happen that way. If anything, Winter 2017 looks like the best bet. It gives them the longest amount of time to work on the title while still releasing it early enough and it would fall under the holiday season, and no one loves those holiday sales figures better than game companies. That's the most optimistic way I would see it happening, unless they wanted to really drive home the 15th Anniversary idea and release it in September or March, but again, that's a bit too early given the pace they're at right now. Given how much work still needs to be done and how soon they would like to release the game, I would say narrowing it down to Winter 2017 is likely the best and most reasonably optimistic bet to go for. I honestly don't believe 2.8 will set them back that far, if at all, since the only reason they are doing this is because they fear 3 will take a bit too long to release and they don't want the fans to be bored out of their minds, so if anything either 2.8 will be relatively easy to do compared to 1.5 and 2.5 (half of the model assets came from 3D in the first place, no we're going full circle), or most of the work might have already been done on it already, with most of the work going into getting voice work done for the additional titles, finishing up 3D's polishing and control setup, and building and completing BBS 0.2 alongside 3's development. It's like that by the time they are done with 0.2, 3's gameplay will be 90-100% finalized and that the only things that would need to be worked on are specific features like world traits and gimmicks, minigames, voice acting, polish, debugging, etc. The wait might still be agonizing, but at least it won't be empty.
