Anyone else think it's a safe bet Willa Holland was called back for both BBSFM AND 2.8?

Posted

Aqua had very minimal lines in the Secret Episode and I always found it hard to believe they'd call Willa Holland back just for a couple scenes (Although, it's not like they haven't done that before. See: Hayden Panettiere for both Blank Points and Dream Drop Distance) With the revelation that 2.8 has been in production for a while, it seems likely that Willa Holland has already voiced her lines as Aqua for BBS 0.2.

What do you guys think?

Depends really. Didn't she say she wanted to do bigger stuff? I mean if she had enough free time from Arrow then sure. But then again she did voice as you say only a couple of lines in 2.5.

Which makes me wonder. How much are they being paid when they come back to voice only 2-3 lines? Unless they are in some contract or something. But then again Disney is like a multrillion company sooo...

In some exchange of emails I saw posted on this forum a long time ago, whoever it was who emailed her sent a (pretty pisspoor, imo) essay about how a lot of people don't like her portrayal but that they did and wanted to know if she would consider coming back. Holland basically just said that she doesn't know and that it seems like she was getting to do bigger stuff (since she had just gotten the role on Arrow) so she may not, or something like that.

Judging by what's happening recently, she doesn't seem to be doing much work outside of Arrow and she *did* return for 2.5, so that's why I'm curious. Personally, though she's hit-and-miss throughout most of BBS, I can't imagine Aqua without her voice. She must not have cost much because Disney obviously doesn't care too much about voice continuity since Namine was voiced by two different actresses in 2.5. Besides Arrow, she seems to be a pretty obscure actress, so I imagine she's willing to take work as it comes.

I doubt anyone's under contract, though. Most of the returning VAs are returning because they're willing to, it seems.

I know people are going to crap on me for this but, at first when the game was released (BBS) I thought Aqua's voice was kinda weak. Like if she didn't really have any emotion to her at all. But I grew to like it at the end.

Anyway, if her VA is changed, it will feel a little weird at first. But I'm wondering what kind of work would someone else do. Same as the new MX VA.

I agree. Like I said, she's hit-and-miss throughout most of the game. Where she really shines is towards the end. In the Final Episode and Blank Points, she really nails it, I think. If she kept at the role, she could be really good. I like the way she accentuates things, it's unique among every other actor in the series. The problem is sometimes her delivery comes flat, just like the guy who voiced Terra, who also has some really good moments.

I'm hoping to avoid any weirdness, because voice-actor changes bother me greatly. (I'm still annoyed by Kiefer Sutherland voicing Snake in MGSV) I hope they just get someone who can pull a really good Leonard Nimoy impression for MX but it sucks he wasn't able to work on KHIII.

I'm really not sure. It would certainly be interesting to see how she's changed, what with her relative inexperience when BBS was recorded.

Man, I really hope Willa Holland voices Aqua again for BBS V2!  It would be frickin amazing!  And I don't know why people thought Willa's portrayal of Aqua was bad! Personally, I thought she was great! So much hype! X_X

I understand her portrayal of Aqua wasn't the greatest, but it was her first time voice acting. When compared to the Japanese version of Aqua, Holland is not even close. But I've grown to love Holland's voice for Aqua, and would love her to return in 2.8.

I'd love to see her return (just started my Aqua playthrough on BBSFM). I didn't know the Final Episode had any extra lines, because I haven't played it, but it's possible that she recorded for both at the same time.

I didn't mind her performance at all in the games; Aqua in general doesn't get a chance to emote very much, but when she does (usually accompanying some better rendered cutscene) then it's great.

I'd say its probably 50/50 on if she'll be back for this (and KH3) depending on what else she is doing or if she even wants to come back. I hope she does though, changing voice actors in the middle of a series is lame.

She is definitely coming back. At least I hope :P

She probably is coming back. I am optimistic though. She seems to have improved some in the secret ending to BBS FM. Hopefully, she'll keep it up.

She's definitely coming back, this game has been in development for 10 months. They'd maximize the time that they have with her.

I do think she will come back. If she returned to make those 2.5 lines then I think Square already had plans for 2.8 and made some sort of contract with her. Or so I hope.

She'll come back. She came back for HD 2.5 Remix and so I think she will return for HD 2.8 FCP.

I would like to think she would, especially since Aqua is becoming more of a significant character in the series I would think Square would at least try their best to keep her on board.

Willa Holland's appearance at Supanova Sydney 2015 was cancelled because of a "revised work schedule." I now have reason to believe that BBS 0.2 is one of the major reasons contributing to that. :)

Peace!

Then how about summoning her for voicing Master Aqua for both 0.2 and III

I don't see why she wouldn't. It doesn't take long to record a few minutes of dialogue and I'm sure Disney/SE pay well.

I agree some times Aqua seemed weak but Willa's voice just clocked for Aqua with me. I honestly feel it was a good portray that needed a bit more to it.

I hope she will come back

I would not mind a change in VA for 0.2 and 3. I think she did an OK job in BBS and I wouldn't mind a change.

Here is a project I am working on with regards to her continuing as Aqua. You can maybe share this to her on social networks:

I don't really use social media, but I appreciate the sentiment. From what I've seen of Willa Holland, both her and her voice fit the character pretty well even if I think she's hit-and-miss throughout BBS. I feel making a video about it is a bit overkill but I'm glad to see someone who's as interested (if not more interested) to see her return for KHIII. Given that she returned for KH2.5 though, I think it's likely she'll continue to voice the character.

I understand your concern for Aqua's VA for both KH 2.8 and KH3 and I deeply respect it. But I honestly think they should get someone different to voice her. Like a few people have stated, Holland was a decent Aqua but she was not the best. Not even close compared to the Japanese VA of Aqua. Same goes for Terra, they REALLY should change the VA for him. The voice they gave him is so unfitting. But back to the matter at hand, I honestly think they should just move n from Willa if she has other important things to do besides voicing a few lines in a  video game. There are other people who are just as talented voice actors as Willa. It's not like that Willa is the only person capable of voicing Aqua.
