Fire Emblem: Return - RP Thread.

Posted

Long ago, two dragons entered into conflict. Grima, the fell dragon, who desired destruction and ruin of humankind, and Naga, the divine dragon who helped the humans against the evil forces of the fell one. Grima was sealed by the Exalt, using Falchion, the legendary weapon, alongside the Fire emblem. With victory for humans and the divine dragon, the world flourished once again; however 1000 years later, Grima was resurrected, bringing chaos to the once peaceful lands.

Once again, humans took weapons against it, and with the help of allies from different timelines, the world was saved once again, this time, finishing Grima for good, the lands of Ylisse were once again at peace. But nothing protected these from the hate and darkness inside humans, that´s how the once known Halidom of Ylisse fell down, both Falchion and Fire emblem lost in history, and the Voice, suddenly became silent... until now.

The continents of Ylisse and Valm, coexisted in the 500 years after the so called War of the Fell Dragon; since then many nations emerged while others vanished into history, nowadays in Ylisse exist the Kingdom of Dormus, ruled by King Ephidel, a nation flourished with the touch of steam technology, Varius, the green valley, and their council in the city of Tellus and the legendary Regna Ferox, land of warriors ruled by the Khan Lord Ragnar.

In Valm continent the old guardians of Chon´sin guided by Yang Chen, the light theocracy of Nazzir, blessed with Primarch Valder´s guidance, and the Principality of Rossane, ruled by centuries by House Virion and his head, lord Firion. Recently the kingdom of Dormus, once a provider of peace, has become a menace, as suddenly started to attack the nations of Various and Regna Ferox, with unknown motives, the land once again struggles with war. In the near frontier with Regna Ferox, a group of mercenaries, hired by Dormus Royalty prepares for a battle, one that truly has a long story to be told.

PROLOGUE: Dormus Test.

In a near campside a man, around his 40 years, awakes in the dawn, he needs to receive a few people coming from the city of Dormus, as mercenary, his duty is with his clients, in this case, however..

"Sigh.. I shouldn´t agree with this, but if the old man says this is needed..." Braid, the leader fo the mercenary group said, as he walked out of his tent, in the distance, four people came in the roadside, soon they reached the campside. With a grin smile, he reached the four people coming: " So you are lord Reiner and lady Arcelia, huh? Welcome to the Feroxi Frontier".

"So you should be Braid, I suppose there´s no need of introductions then" Reiner said as he went down of his horse walking next to the man. "So I suposse we need to take your test, as you sent in the letter" "Hell right, if you prove your worthy we will follow you to hell, after all your mission is not a field of roses, trying to sneak into Feroxi lands.. call it a suicide." Braid said with a suspicious look over the two royals. "Alright then we will start soon, prepare yourself, as I prepare my group for battle" Finished saying Braid walked inside the camp, reaching a group of people in the center, "Alright you have 2o minutes to prepare to battle, this will be an battle exercise so be ready to be mocked down by me! HAhaha"

----

Alright everyone! lest start with this! Introduce yourself to your members of the team, and prepare to battle, know yourself better and please Riki, we trust in you.. don´t kill us. Battle will start as soon as everyone talk to each other.

Arcelia was silent. She did not argue over who'd lead, but she didn't cry. She shook with a maelstrom of negative emotions, her body ready to lash out...but instead of that, Arcelia moved closer to Evelyn and gently took one of the mage's hands, and looked away.

"Shut up. It's not that I like...who am I kidding. I'm the wild rebel fool of a princess, and Reiner was the favorite son..."

She couldn't cry. Not now...not until they were safe.

Rija nodded a bit. "I suppose I can see that. A barrier of sorts, an outer shell to protect yourself." Rija replied, tapping her finger to her chin in thought. It was certainly a way to get through life. But Rija wasn't sure she could that. If she wasn't herself one hundred percent of the time, then who else would she be? But the emotional pain that she could feel, would feel, was feeling, the soldier felt like they might end up being too much. She took a deep breath and stood up straight. "Whatever helps you get through what hurts. But me... I have to feel every bit of it. So that I can put that pain into my own strength, whether it be the shared pain of others, or my own aches. No shortcuts or tools for me." She said, attempting to smile as best she could. It wasn't quite right, and was kind of small, but she would get better at it.

Ryonne continued to walk through the tunnel, mind solely on getting them to the capital and to Khan Ragnar. He glanced behind him to see a young girl (Maggie), likely the youngest of the group, walking in silence near the front. He slowed his walk so that he ended up beside her. "What are you thinking? You don't seem to be as frustrated, or angry, or depressed as the others. Just... Anxious." The Feroxi guard asked her.

Maggie nodded at the tall mercenary. "To be honest, I didn't know the prince all that well. He was a good person, but good people have died before." She had seen it more than a few times herself, and been responsible at least once. "I am worried about the implications of the General's actions, though. If the King and Queen ordered their children's death's... The most likely reason that I can come up with is that they are trying to get rid of any 'soft' leaders with the respect of the people. In the past, actions like this have been precursors to war. If they are also trying to gather the pieces of their most powerful weapon, and making devices like the cannons we just saw, my assumption is almost definitely correct." She decided not to go into details on why that was a problem to her, very few people were excited about the concept of war.

"It's not really for me."Derik stared at the rest of the group. "It helps me, yeah, but... not everyone is thst tough. Not everyone can handle it, especially for someone who hasn't lived through it before. Plus, I'm a bit of a joker when I'm not on the field, spent way too much of my life acting like someone else to just act as I do because why not. It's just a more... boisterous form, I guess." He pulled at his cuffs. "Jokes, pranks, the lot. It helps me but for people who can't comprehend the horror, they can use it to regulate out. When I'm serious I feel... I guess, stifled. I'm not myself. I like helping people, so it's just another way I do what I do."He put his hands behind his head, his voice picking up a little more of its previous lighthearted tone, and a lot more volume. "So, considering your country betrayed you, might as well say why they sent you in the first place. I'm a bit curious to hear why you're all here."

"I'm glad that we can both find our own ways to help others." Rija said, nodding as she continued to walk. "If only you weren't so reckless while you did so." She continued with a sigh, those words a bit quieter and unable to be heard as she backed towards the tail end of the group again. She glanced back to make sure that they were not being followed, and after seeing nothing for a few minutes, headed back to the others. It was doubtful that they had been followed, but she had been told to take the rear, so she would do all the duties included with such a job, including lookout.

Ryonne nodded. "You are wise beyond your years, and are right to be concerned by it." He said, affirming Maggie's thoughts with his thoughts on the matter. "War is likely in the very near future, with General Dephos mobilized with an army and orders to kill the royal prince and princess, and take Gules for himself. The most unfortunate part is that despite all their warmongering, Dormus is in the place of highest advantage right now. They have not only a large enough army to take even Regna Ferox, but their technology is millenia ahead of anything the rest of us have." Ryonne continued. "Our best chance to stop this invasion before it really gets underway would be for Ferox and Varius to ally swiftly, and then to call upon the citizens of Valm. Nazzir is almost certain to send soldiers, Rossane's wyvern riders would be a great assistance as well. And perhaps if Chon'Sin was willing to, soldiers of their skill would be invaluable. In other words, our only chance is to all join together. That would limit casualties per nation, as well as shorten the time frame of the war immensely." Ryonne finished. He walked on in silence for a few moments before he added a bit more. "But I have a feeling that Dormus has more tricks than it has revealed to us."

"I'm not even sure that's enough." Brooklyn interjected. "They don't seem to have any morals. This war may be fought very differently from those of old. Just banding together might not be enough... We need a plan, and power to back it up. A lot."

He thought about it for a moment. And it struck him. "Your idea on our units is well-placed, but there is something odd about the whole situation. If Dormus plans to use it's incredible technological improvements on us, we need fighters that can oppose this. What I'm considering is magic." He paused, reaching into his jacket, he pulled out Guels from it's hiding place. "The balance to science is magic. One could say they're one in the same thing, like a mirror image. But they have subtle differences and powers one has over the other. In science, proven methods improve upon situations: It's tame. Magic, however, is unruly and wild, it goes against the nature of science which makes them fight, but to no avail."

"Our one problem is, I believe that Varius is the only land that holds a great number of extremely skilled magicians this side of the world, and Nazzir the only on Valm, and if they only send solider's, we may come to a great disadvantage. But without their foot soldier support, what can we do?"

He paused again. "We must find more people of our level. Skilled warrior's, mage's, the like, we need the world's best. And we have to take the fight to them. I don't know how, but that's the only way I can see out for us. Have you seen what they are able to create? In my short stay there, I was awestruck by the sight's, steam being pumped through hollowed rods at an incredible rate, I can't imagine what a weapon using that stuff would do to a person... So we can't let the war go on for too long, it must be a short one... Otherwise, we probably don't stand a chance..."

Wolt walked slowly across the tunnel. He was still trying to recover from his wounds in battle. Yet still he couldn´t feel pain.. not physical at least. He had failed as a knight, losing his captain and the battle, and worse of all, against their own people. He came closer to Armad, starting to speak in a sad tone. "What.. what are we gonna do now Armad? Arcelia will need us.. but how are we gonna fight Dormus Army?" He finished to ask his question, when a bright light came fron the end of the tunnel. The fresh air was just the opening to the sight of a extended snowy valley. At the center of it a citadel, surrounded by walls stood in the middle. An arena and a castle were in the middle of it; the capitol of Regna Ferox, Vagrante was their next destination.

A big crew was filling the plaza inside Dormus castle. Civilians, soldiers, all of them were awating for something.. a spreech from their ruler. In the main balcony three people were standing. Cogmar, the Red Fang, known by his mastery with his axe, Axcella, the graceful Sage and Dephos, Technomancer of the new Dawn. The three generals of Dormus awaited the moment when he would enter the balcony as well. An so it happened, a man around his 50 years, tall, blonde hair, you could say the vivid image of Reiner but much older; King Ephidel started to speak lowder:

"PEOPLE OF DORMUS! MY CITIZENS. WE HAVE SURPASSED MANY TRIALS, ALWAYS LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE, NOW WITH SADNESS I ANNOUNCE THE DEATH OF OUR TWO PRINCES AT THE HANDS OF REGNA FEROX´S SOLDIERS WHO INVADED OUR FRONTIER. ALSO IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT THE THEOCRACY OF NAZZIR HAS ALLIED WITH THEM. WE SHALL NOT LET THIS THREAD BE IGNORED ANYMORE! NOW WE WILL SHOW THEM THE TRUE POWER OF DORMUS! WE HAVE SUCCEEDED HOUSE YLLISE. WE SHALL TAKE INTO THE WORLD, AND WE SHALL FORM DORMUS EMPIRE! AND FOR THOSE WHO STAND AGAINST US, WE SHALL CRUSH THEM UP!

LONG LIVE EMPEROR EPHIDEL!!!

LONG LIVE DORMUS EMPIRE!!!

"No.. it cant be.." A soft female voice muttered as she was watching the landscape in the distance. The soft breeze moved her green hair and her red clothes, as she started to run inside the blue shrine atop the legendary Mila tree. As she reached the center, she saw another woman, a little bit older in appearance of her, also of green hair with a tiara decorating it, standing in the middle of a crystaline pond, with her eyes closed, like if she was in trance. "Tiki! Did you felt it?" The young lady asked nervously as the other one opened her eyes. With a soft and calm voice she replied: "Yes Nah... it seems.. darkness once more is threatening our world..."

Do you want to save your progress? YES

Saving... ... ...

CHAPTER 2: UNDER SIEGE!

"Sire! Ryonne is back with a group of people!" A soldier said to Ragnar as he walked out of his throne room. "Alright. I have to finish some arrangements for the defense of the city. We shall be prepared." Ragnar said in a serious tone. "Sire you couldn´t meant..." the soldier said with his voice breaking into the air. "They shall come.. and sooner than expected... Tell Ryonne to guide our guess into the east wing. They will need a good night of rest. after leaving them, tell him to come to my chamber alongside Derik and the Nazzir messenger".

"Yes sire. At the moment!" the soldier replied as he quickly ran. After a few minutes he reached Ryonne, passing the message to him. "That is all sire." The group finnaly ended into one of the batallions dormitory, ready to be used. It was a big room with a big table on the middle and a fire place at one of the walls. it has many beds prepared for them. They would need to sleep and recover, to be prepared for the next challenge.

(Alright, you can start to make good support here, you have a lot to talk. xD meanwhile.. Ryonne, Rija and Derik, to the director´s office please hahhahaha. Also thank you everyone. Withouth you this RP would have become a piece of ice. xD I really appreciate the effort. Now enjoy and rest, the next combat is nigh. )

(Just got home from work sorry about that.)

Ei took a deep breath and out his sword back into the sheath, 'That was pretty intense.' He then looked at Yani to see if she was alright, "Glad to see you made it through... But some of us were not as lucky." He said thinking about Wolt, 'We can't always make it through battle.' As he thought about this he figured it was time to tell her about his life. "Before we started the journey, remember when you asked me about my childhood... Well it is about time I stop running from the past." Ei says to Yani, "It was as a kid I was forced to use a sword by my father, and when I grew up I opened up a dojo and fond out I was doing the same thing my father did to me... Forcing kids to use a sword and it was some thing I hoped I would never do, that is my life story." Ei said.

Armad wipes his face as he turns towards Wolt. "We wont stand for such blastphemy. I swore my life to the throne but only to those who respect the value of a life." He mutters to Wolt as his fingers ball up into a fist. "But that was disgusting.... He treated them like trash....... Like they were nothing.... Braid and Reiner's lives will not be left in vain."

Faaron remained shaking in fear

Yany was following the group through the tunnel pass still a bit injured from battle so she transformed back into her normal self. Yany was silently eyeing the others around her "they all seem to be unsettled by the sudden death of that man-spawn Reiner. I can hear all their heart beats beating faster & faster, It be best for me to say nothing for the moment. A man-spawn dying isn't a big deal to me in the slightest, but perhaps I feel nothing for their kind as it was their kind that killed most of mine...I must still hold some kind of hatred for humans still" thought Yany while she followed the group.

Then the group reached the end of the tunnel. Soon after Yany found herself in a big as room with a fire place "Hm...this is very nice indeed" said Yany softly as she looked around the place right before Ei spoke to her "I too am glad your safe Ei...As for the other man-spawn...don't let it hold you down, it wasn't your fault nor did we foresee such betrayal coming" said Yany as she stood in front of Ei. "Yes I remember" said Yany as Ei then started explaining his life story "Are you sure your doing the same thing as your father? I mean, maybe deep down inside your heart you feel the need to help other kids become stronger so they can have the strength to protect themselves should war break out. Maybe your father wanted to make sure you had the strength to not only be strong to protect yourself but those who can't protect themselves too. I also must say Ei, hearing your past makes me feel a bit jealous. I wish to be stronger than this, you see I have a friend named Pan who is also a Taguel, Pan is much stronger than me & I'm sure shes getting even stronger as we speak, maybe you can help me train to be better than her sometime?" said Yany as her eyes close for a moment while she showed a light smile.

Hearing more about her past and finding out there are more Taguel's made Ei happy that she isn't all alone in the world, but when he heard that she wanted to get stronger it didn't make sense. "I'm not sure why you need to train, you're already strong... But if you think you need to train I can give it a shot." Ei said with a light smile. "Lead the way".

Arcelia almost seemed a ghost. She was quiet and distant, as if she was a shadow that had taken on color. Despite her earlier rage her eyes were hollow, the green dull and unfocused. She wasn't able to process it even now...she still flinched, as if someone rubbed her head.

After arriving at the safety of Regna Feroz, she gently took Evelyn's hand.

"...will you come with me?"

-Evelyn Boon-

Arriving in Regna Feroz with the others, Evelyn felt conflicted and out of her depth. She was just a humble, wandering Mage before all of this Mercenary crap...now she was involved in the events that could lead up to some big war or even worse, something like the days of the heroes of the past when the Fire Emblem was still around. She couldn't help but ask herself: "What am I doing here? How did I get involved in this...?" Both of these questions rung in her head on their way there and still ring...but no answer was given.

Her train of thought ceased however, with the distraught Arcelia taking her hand and asking her of she'd come with her...she smiled lightly and spoke.

"E-Erm...why of course! *Ahem* I shall accompany you." She told her.

Alexander Crad -

"Varius..." Alexander muttered as he overheard Brooklyn speaking with Ryonne and Derik, but he didn't say anything during the travel, they soon arrived in Regna Ferox, a place where they would be safe, for the time being, hopefully for enough time to rest, as they entered the gates he analyzed the surrounding soldiers and the general area, he was just glad they got out of that damn cold, and hopefully, they would be able to mourn Reiner's death.

Alexander walked beside Catrain, "I expected a simple mercenary job, but look at where we are now, in the middle of a conflict that may as well have started a war, this was one hell of a turn of events don't you think?" he commented about the situation, "I don't know about anyone else, but im willing to follow this through to the end...Varius is in danger from this as well, I can't allow that" Alexander spoke, patriotism could be felt from his voice, "What about you Catrain? what are you going to do now?" he asked an obvious question.

Ryonne nodded as the messenger departed. He turned towards the rest of the group as they began to settle in. "I assume that you will all be welcome to all the facilities. There is a practice arena in the basement, a kitchen on the second floor, and an infirmary if anybody has any major injuries still on this level here, over towards the right. I, along with Rija and Derik will be back shortly. Make yourselves comfortable." He said to all of them, giving them the bare bones of information. He gestured for Rija and Derik to follow behind him as he headed towards the king's audience chamber. When they had made it, Ryonne quickly bowed his head and took a knee. "My liege," He said, waiting for the Khan's response.

Braid and Reiner's lives will not be left in vain." Faaron remained shaking in fear

As the conversation with Ryonne and Brooklyn ended, Maggie began looking at the other mercenaries. The group couldn't look any more depressed if the had a rain cloud (or snow cloud in this case) following them around. Faaron looked rather freaked out. He was shaking again, but this time she didn't think it was from the cold. 'Direct confrontation or distraction?' She wondered, before deciding that it wouldn't do the bard any good to have all his emotions locked up and eating away at him. "How are you holding up?" She asked the light haired musician after walking over.

"I have seen a couple of people die before." Maggie said, in a more quiet voice than usual. "A few from disease, and a few from more violent causes. I watched my father die because of a terminal illness, and I have had to kill to protect my family. It... Doesn't get any easier, but I suppose the only thing we can do is remember them and hope they are happy, wherever they have moved on to. I believe that a person is never truly gone if there is someone to remember them, to carry their dreams for them." She looked up at the ceiling, slightly embarrassed. She hadn't intended to get all mushy and philosophical.

-Arcelia-

The Princess led Evelyn to a quiet spot and sat them down facing one another. She looked at the mage for maybe a minute, her hollow look boring into Evelyn.

Then her eyes were filled with emotions of every caliber...then tears.

Arcelia pitched forward and pressed her face into Eveleyn's shoulder, and broke down. She cried and cried and didn't seem like she'd stop anytime soon.

-Evelyn Boon-

As she was led into a quiet spot by Arcelia, Evelyn felt deep inside that she knew what would happen next....Arcelia was strong externally, but...even a Princess can only take so much.

She sat with her for a full minute as Arcelia's eyes bored into Evelyn...bored into her brain, bored into her very mind with their emptiness....an emptiness that was soon filled to the brim with emotion...and tears as she grabbed Evelyn and buried her face in her shoulder and lost it, breaking down in sobs of grief and despair.

Evelyn was startled, surprised and confused, unsure of what to do....but as she cried, she too felt mutual sadness out of sympathy...her surprised and raised arms lowered...then encompassed the poor princess in a tight, reassuring hug. The Mage held the Princess in her arms as a tear streamed down her right cheek while she closed her eyes...she would hold her as long as she needed to...and then some more.

"Mhm," Maggie agreed, "although there is no point in getting upset at you for telling the truth, but..." The thief didn't want to ask anything too personal, but she was honestly curious. "What has your life been like? I haven't had the chance to speak to many bards before. What was it like growing up around music?"

Derik followed Ryonne and Rija. He was silent the whole time, his steps, which were normally loud and almost like stomps were instead silent. Eerily silent. As they had reached the throne room, Derik stood off to the side at his usual post, left hand trained on his Killer Edge, his uneasiness all revealing in his eyes. He stated nothing, he hadn't a word to say on the matter.Brooklyn sat on the wooden stool in the kitchen, in his hand Guels sat. "Reiner.... I promise to fight for these people hard enough for the both of us. You stood by my decision to the end. Thank you. I'll do all I can to keep Arcelia safe for you in your absence." He thought, the gemstone glimmering in the small amount of candle light in the room...

"My life? Hmmm its been mostly a close to home pampered life. Ive been treated very welll." He replied. "My family is decently wealthy. All of us are bards and well thats about it...." He explained

-Arcelia-

The Princess sobbed for what felt like forever. It was awhile, so when she finely calmed down, Evelyn's shoulder would probably be pretty wet with tears. The heir to Dormus sat there, eyes red, lips quivering, and looking like a lost child, and not an impressive warrior.

She didn't even know what to say...so she switched shoulders and just stayed there, her body shaking with silent, uncontrollable sobs.
