Will KH3 be a disappointment?

I don't think so. I liked what I saw for the most part in the E3 trailer so I'm sure I'll be happy playing the game. The story is what worries me, there are certain characters that I don't want to see get a happy return and I get the feeling I'll just have to "deal with it".

 

I think the story will be the issue, because many people have demanded KH3 and hyped it up to no end despite skipping the side stories in the series. I can see the reviews for it now, "great action, cool worlds, convoluted story, 4/10 SE y u disappoint" Like, it is inevitable. The game won't make sense for the ones who have only played KH1 and KH2 and they'll whine about it to no end.

My concern from the game is actually from a technical standpoint. I just don't want Kingdom Hearts 3 to end up being really glitchy and visually awkward due to the heavy demand in procession power for all the simultaneous actions happening in the game.

 

In layman terms, I just don't want a rehash of the Batman PC port scenario all over again.

I think chances are, for many people like us, fans of the entire series, KH3 is going to be at least "a great game" if not absolutely fantastic. Well, so long as they don't royally screw it up, but I don't see that as very likely.

 

Now, for the people out there who only played Kh1 and Kh2 and have refused to acknowledge all the other "spinoff" games while they wait for the next true KH game... Yeah, I don't think they're going to be happy

 

The 2nd paragraph most definitely. But the HD remixes fufill that purpose. But the stupid thing is KH3D is HUGELY HUGELY HUGELY important to the series plot and it hasn't been re-mastered... That needs to happen, cutscenes, a new game whatever. Otherwise people are going to be so confused with the leap from re-coded to KH3. Think about everything that happened in KH3D

13 SOD and 7 GOL battle was revealed to happen

Master Xehanort's return. THE MAIN ANTAGONIST.

TIME TRAVEL was implemented

MX new motives became clear.

Riku became a keyblade master

Lea/Axel joined the good guys and got a keyblade

Kairi was recruited to get keyblade training

The return of many older villains

Confirmation/hints that Aqua and Ven were returning. As well as Roxas and maybe Xion

The introduction of a whole new realm which could be used in future installments

KH3D is hugely important for KH3 since it takes place right before KH3! I can't stress this enough. Yet they re master re-coded's cutscenes but not KH3D?

It could be in ways. After all this build up of hype, and people building in their minds what it'll look like, anything not meeting that critera PERFECTLY will be considered a failure.

I don't understand your 4th point, and disagree with your 2nd and 3rd because I think that if drive forms don't return, they'll be replaced with some other combat mechanic. Shotlocks were also pretty lame; hardly ever used them. I kinda agree with your first point though, but it'll be enough to me if Sora and Kairi get their feelings through to each other some other way.

Well, some people are throwing around a theory that Xehanort might be possesd by the sixth foreteller like how he possesd Terra. I really don't want anything like that to happen., Whether it's the sixth Foreteller or somebody else.
