It was the end of a long Friday afternoon at Litwak's Arcade as the last of the staff locked the doors and went home. As always the arcade was very busy, and because it was now the weekend, children and adults alike are going to be spending most of their time in this nostalgic building. The lights went out however the games still remained on. A character from Dance Dance Revolution was the first as usual to notice the arcade closing, and therefore announced it.

 

"Hey everyone! The arcade's closed!"

 

Silver the Hedgehog looked up in the sky at the screen, watching the night take over the entire arcade. He always loved how the lights of his game and the others were the only light source after dark, almost as if they were the moonlight.

Silver stretched his tired body as he sat on top of the wrestling ring from Sonic the Fighters. It's been a while since he joined the game, and so far it was fun! A total of two players picked him that day. He jumped off of the stage and looked toward the train that led him to Game Central Station.

"Guys! The arcade is closed! Anyone want to go to Tappers for some root beer?"

 

Meanwhile Mike Schmidt was already at Tappers, sitting on one of the stools at the bar. He was terrified of being in his own game for a second any longer. With every sudden sound or movement, Mike would jump, and make a small yelp. The other characters would look at him in pity. As the waiter served him another cup of root beer, Mike nervously took a few sips here and there with his cup in one hand, and a old fashioned black telephone in the other. The phone had no cord, for it was cut. The poor security guard clutched at the phone as if it was dear life.

"How many times did I have to regenerate today?" Tails wondered to himself. The players that tended to choose him, weren't always the best players. He had lost nearly every battle he was put up to, but he didn't mind too much. Sonic the Fighters was his home, and he sure was glad to be a part of it. Rubbing his head briefly after a fight in Mushroom Hill, he listened to someone announce the closing of the Arcade for the day. Tails sprang up, excited to finally have a little free time again. He had heard Silver call out, asking if anyone wanted to go with him to Tappers. "I'll go!" Tails excitedly replied. He loved Game Central Station, any excuse to see his pals there, was the best excuse. Running across the Mushroom Hill Arena, and crossing over towards the Wrestling Ring, made famous by Metal Sonic, he caught up with Silver, repeating his words again and again.

     Yoshi and his friends from the Mushroom Kingdom have just ended their daily rumble of fast-paced action in Super Smash Bros. Him, Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Rosalina heard the call that the arcade was closed. They all headed out towards the train to Game Central Station. Mario suggested going to Tappers for the evening, and the boys happily complied. Once getting into Game Central Station, the girls headed off to converse, while the guys hurried over to Tappers. They all collectively hopped inside the doorway, and shouted out their iconic chants, greeting everyone inside.

[Soul Eater Evans 4,045]

Evil Lord groaned once more, having been one game away from turning Millenia back to her original form. The timer reached zero, unfortunately, and he was swarmed by a group of Shooters as well. "Time Goddess! I demand a refund! Give me back my money!" the tall, frail man called out into a barrel, in the center of a town. All he could hear from it in response was haughty laughter as someone announced the arcade was closed for the day. "Darn that woman to oblivion. Well, shall we head to the Station, my love?" The dark lavender bat-esque umbrella, Millenia, shook her head forward, signaling approval. Smiling, Evil Lord strode toward his location, shading himself from the sun with his trusty partner.

Silver chuckled at his light hearted happy friend. He ruffled Tails' hair, happy at least someone wanted to have a root beer with him. Sonic and everyone was always too busy going to other games anyway.

"Sure, buddy!" Silver said. He looked over to the Station, which was a rolercoaster like train, almost like the one Fix-It Felix has. Silver checked to see if he had any rings with him.

"Let's see... Two root beers shouldn't cost to much rings... And I have extra for us if we get hit! Wouldn't want to die outside our game." Silver always knew to carry rings with him. With zero rings all he had to do was fall on a spike or something outside his game and Silver would be no more!

"Do you need any rings?"

 

Mike Schmidt let out a loud scream at Yoshi's sudden arrival and shout, which caused some of the other customers in the arcade to jump and shoot glares at the poor security guard. Upon realizing that it was only a green dinosaur and other people entering, Schmidt slouched over the bar table, clutching his phone and mug of root beer to his chest. He was shaking nonstop.

 

One of the other customers, an NPC from Hero's Duty, rolled his eyes.

"Hey, Schmidt, relax for once! I know you've only been plugged in a few days, but it's not that bad once you get used to it."

~Tails~

"Yeah." Tails searched his pockets briefly before responding. "I don't want to die just yet." He laughed a bit, even though he was serious. People have died outside their own game before, and they never returned.

"Lead the way!" He chirped cheerfully, marching in place behind Silver.

Silver nodded excitedly, and called out to his other friends. "We'll be at Tappers!" He said.

Once they got to Tappers, Silver found himself at a rather noisy establishment, which was actually unusual. Usually the place was quiet. Not only that, there was a security guard looking man cowering in fear in the corner. The poor guy jumped out of his socks when Silver opened the door!

"Yeesh." Silver said to Tails. "What's his problem?"

"Oh, him?" Tails sighed lightly. "That's the guy from a new horror game they plugged in not too long ago. You can imagine how terrifying it would be to have to live through the same horrors every day." Tails punched Silver lightly in his arm. "Makes you glad you're part of Sonic the Fighters, huh?"

If it wasn't for Tassadar, the Protoss Templar, things would have gotten ugly again.

Diablo, the title villain of the Diablo series, didn't take kindly to being beat, which Kerrigan had done several times through out the day. After the call that the arcade was closed went out, Kerrigan found the snarling demon blocking her way from leaving the character select area.

"Do you really want to go again?" The Queen of Blades asked her rival, her bony "wings" flared behind her, glowing at the tips. "I'll take you apart easier without a player controlling me."

Diablo chuckled darkly as he readied himself to charge the human/Zerg hybrid. But before either combatant could strike, a Force Wall appeared between them.

"Enough!" The Psionic Tassadar commanded.

He hovered a few meters away, backed by Jim Raynor, a Terran Marine, and Chen, the Panda Brewmaster.

"We all know the price of a fight started outside a match." The Protoss warned.

"Dog piled." Kerrigan thought.

Who ever got out of line was a danger to everyone, so everyone helped get that person in line again. Most games didn't need that kind of rule, but Heroes of the Storm was new and had a few megalomaniacs and monsters. Most of the heroes kept things together, but that made things complicated for Kerrigan, who wasn't sure whose side she was on.

The Queen of Blades caught a pleading look from Jim Raynor, a...friend from their original games. Letting out a frustrated grunt, Kerrigan lowered her bony wings and the purple glow from her died down.

"We'll probably have a chance for a rematch tomorrow." She said to Diablo.

The demon snorted, then stomped away. Part of Kerrigan was disappointed. The rest of her was relieved that she was done fighting for today. The watching characters slowly dispersed, with as much mixed feelings as Kerrigan had herself. Jim Raynor, watching Diablo's retreating back, walked over to Kerrigan, his power armor making him a more imposing figure on the battle field.

"That was close." He commented.

Kerrigan nodded.

"Still is." She said. "Best to be unseen for awhile."

She turned to her friend and gave him one of her rare friendly smiles.

"Wanna go to Tappers to get away from this circus?"

"Sorry, darlin'." Raynor answered, giving Kerrigan an apologetic smile. "I promised to help keep an eye on Azmodan tonight."

The Queen of Blades looked slightly disappointed, but nodded.

"Alright." She said. "See you around."

Marching directly to the exit, Kerrigan was given a wide berth by everyone she met till she made it into tram to the main hub. The hub bustled with activity from all the off duty game characters. Kerrigan was bumped and jostled by the crowd. She had to remind herself to keep cool and not rip someone's head off. It was actually a relief to make it to Tappers.

Walking into the digital bar, Kerrigan looked around to see the different characters already there, then took a seat directly at the bar.

"Uhuh." Silver said with a gulp. He did not want to be that guy.

"Well, I sorta do live in a horror game when I have to sleep near Knuckles. His smell is terrible!" He said with a chuckle. Still, he felt bad for the poor guard. Maybe there was something he could do.

"Hey, should we get a rootbeer float for him or something?" Silver noticed the rather interesting looking newcomer enter the bad.

"Woah," Silver said. "Look Tails; she's huge!"

"Woah...! Where is SHE from?" Tails tried to walk up to her, hoping not to get into too much trouble doing so.

  Yoshi, Mario, and Luigi all collectively took their seats near Mike. Mario, offered to pay for his brother and his trusty dinosaur. Then he patted Mike on the back and chucked.

  "Sorry about-a that! We didn't mean to-a scare you!", he said. The others looked over to him and nodded in agreement. 

  "At-a least there aren't any ghosts in-a here!", Luigi added.

 

  Then suddenly, a newcomer came into the bar, and the Mushroom Kingdom trio just stared and blinked at her in awe.

Kerrigan worked her jaw as she starred at her drink, well aware of the stares she was attracting. Maybe that guy had been wrong about this place. Her wings, which had been folded up behind her, flared out to near their full width. Faint purple lights appeared on her wings and around her eyes.

"Hi." The Queen of Blades said. "I'm new. Name's Kerrigan. Anything else, or are all of you gonna keep staring?"
