Sora96 17,256 Posted November 12, 2014 The Last of Us is an action-adventure survival horror video game developed by Naughty Dog. It is available on PlayStation 3 & PlayStation 4. You control Joel (voiced and motion-captured by Troy Baker who also played Snow in FINAL FANTASY XIII) along with 14-year-old Ellie (Ashley Johnson) across a post-apocalyptic United States. Where do I start? I've just finished The Last of Us on PlayStation 3 and I'm struggling to come to terms with everything. I've never felt like this after a game before. From the first minute to the last you're left awed. This story was simply phenomenal. I felt so much care, fear, love and emotion in this story. I felt fear to certain enemies in certain situations. I felt relieved when enemies were defeated. I was left stunned. I felt many things with this game. The gameplay is pretty much perfect for this type of game. I loved collecting supplies. I loved the combat. I loved exploring towns. I don't like stealth games, but this stealth was amazing. The shooting elements are also top notch. There's a lot of difficulty modes and even New Game+. The music is perfect. The music blends perfectly. The transition between cinematic and gameplay is also perfect. The voice actor selection for each character is also perfect. Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Nolan North (Yes, Nathan Drake) and co. do an amazing job. There's also plenty of side quest items to collect. Including comics and pendants. Like in Uncharted, you can re-watch all the cinematics, view concept art, use different character skins and even turn on different render modes. Oddly enough, there are no trophies related to story progress except for when you complete the game. But the trophy list is still pretty great. I haven't played much mulitplayer yet, but there's definitely some fun to be had here. There's also some DLC. Multiplayer maps and a story titled Left Behind which is a prequel to the main story, however you should wait until after you complete the game to play it. I look forward to playing Left Behind one day. If I had one disappointment, it was the ending. Personally, I prefer solid endings. Don't get me wrong, the stuff that occurs right before the final cinematic is truly amazing but I felt left hanging after the final cinematic. Ellie sums it up pretty well: "Okay.". I fully expect a sequel and I look forward to it after Uncharted 4. I will purchase the PlayStation 4 port one day. Well done for outdoing yourself once again, Naughty Dog. 9/10 4 Silent, kingdomlanelover, WakelessDream and 1 other reacted to this
HeyMouseSayCheese 1,133 Posted November 12, 2014 Is the story really that great? I've heard all the hype, but I've played the first 2-3 hours and it got boring real quick; very generic in a lot of ways. Does it pick up after a while, or is it the kind of story where if i don't like it at first, I never will? And am I the only one that doesn't like Troy baker very much? I mean, he's okay, he's competent, he doesn't suck, but he's no Nolan North, or Roger Craig Smith, or Tara Strong.

HeyMouseSayCheese 1,133 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) Yes, it's amazing. The story gets even better. Troy Baker's great. Okay, but you're saying "From the first minute to the last you're left awed." And I wasn't from the first. Or the several dozen after that. So I'm not sure I'll ever be awed by it. Could you try a bit more to explain why it's so good (without spoilers, o'course)? And meh, agree to disagree. Aru Akise 2,540 Posted November 12, 2014 It was a game of feelz. That end too, I agree with Sora69. I wanted something more solid. When I realized it had ended, I was soooo sad... 1 Sora96 reacted to this
