News has surfaced today surrounding an upcoming mobile game helmed by Oriflamme, a new developer headed by Ryuji Ikeda of Dissidia Final Fantasy fame as well as other ex-Square Enix and Capcom staff. The game – titled Chaos Centurions – is an RTS written by Kenichi Iwao (World Concept Planning, Final Fantasy XIV) and Alexander O. Smith, Japanese localization guru.

The full staff list found at the end of the trailer also lists Kentaro Yasui who was the main programmer on titles such as Final Fantasy VII, VIII, Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II and has been attached to the Final Fantasy Versus XIII – now Final Fantasy XV project – for years. It is unknown if Yasui is still involved there, but his inclusion at this new company alongside other ex-staff suggests he may have left Square Enix on unspecified notice.

Square Enix has been silent on the status of Final Fantasy XV for well over a year despite promises to be “more open with fans” on the game’s developments. Having skipped out on this year’s E3, it’s currently unknown when the title may surface again, although Producer Shinji Hashimoto claims that new information will be shared when the time is right.

We will be approaching Square Enix and other sources to get further clarification on this matter.

This is going soooooooooo smoothly

Well when you've got the guy who made All The Bravest directing.....

Oh Square, I just love your "wait a little longer" line xD

It's been 8 years and we're still waiting a little longer for Final Fantasy Ver....uh...I mean...XV!...yeah...XV! 8D

FFXV is a fantasy at this point, and I don't know about kh3 square could go bankrupt before it ever happens but I'll give it 2 or 3 years before I quit hoping

I really want to see FFXV come out, but I want KH3 to come out more. If FFXV development is seriously going this badly, maybe the focus needs to be shifted to KH3 for a while. Maybe taking a break from working on FFXV might be beneficial. After some work on another project the team could get a fresh look at it and then development could really kick off.

They need to do something. I am to point where if Final Fantasy XV comes, great; if not, that is fine too. It might just not be the time for it. It might become like Avatar (super HD movie) I know people are like," We have waited almost 10 years!", but this is a game beyond its time.

It has to be in Development Hell.

Please. Square Enix just made a large profit.

They're being made by different teams.

You want movie? The team who made Advent Children and Advent Children Complete is making FFXV's cutscenes.

No, I don't want a movie. I referring to the fact that the creator of Avatar had to wait a long time until he could get the technology to achieve his product.

The PS4 is fully capable of FFXV.

I know there being made by different teams but FFXV's and KH3's development affect each other. Maybe the FFXV could take a break or help out the KH3 team.

Lol. That would never happen. FF is always Square Enix's primary focus.

Well that's nice. Just another great thing to happen to the game that's taking a decade to make. Sometimes i wonder if they're just stretching it as long as they can possibly can so the Fabula Nova Crystallis project can really last 10 years. Or maybe it's just because Nomura is dragging his ass because he's getting lazy with how long it's taking. Although, as long as KHIII is in development and is being made at a faster pace than XV is, then fine, ill live with it. Just as long as that doesn't take 8 years of full development too. >_>

Although, it would be nice if Nomura finishes XV soon, if only because then he can put his full focus on KHIII. As much as i like what the Osaka team did with the Handheld titles, i think the Team that made I and II should be the real people handling the third numbered title. I mean, most of us WANT NPC's and plots that make you feel more involved in the Disney worlds in KHIII, thank you very much.

Well. I guess we're going to have to wait another eternity.

You make it sound like every problem with Final Fantasy XV is Nomura's doing. That clearly isn't the case and you know it isn't, joke or not.

Hm they must be almost done. However this explains why it was not at the E3.

If it is not at the tgs then it is a bad sign. Oh well I can live with the PS3 for years.

Well everyone blames Toriyama for everything wrong with the XIII trilogy even though Kitase and Hashimoto approve of everything. So I am fully entitled to blame Nomura in this case too.

Man I just had my first kid when FF15 was announced now there going to be in 4th grade already xD

and if you can't tell I'm be sarcastic!

seriously though this is upsetting! how long does it take to make a game, though I hope at TGS they give us something.

I don't think Toriyama deserved the blame for everything wrong with XIII but he deserved the most blame. People point the blame at him because he threw out two  sequels to a game that never deserved them to begin with. In Nomura's case, most of XV's problems lie with Square Enix themselves. The game hasn't released yet and like many I fully think the game will be a far greater experience than XIII ever was. Then everyone's opinion on both Nomura and SE will greatly change. People are just frustrated with how long XV is taking and that is understandable. People were frustrated with Toriyama for far different reasons. You just have this blinded opinion of him because you love both the X series and the XIII series and you feel the need to throw punches at Nomura because it's the cool thing to do, full entitled or not. I just fail to see how a programmer leaving Square Enix is Nomura's fault, as it could be various other reasons.

Who says it was even Toriyama's idea to do the sequels? Kitase, Hashimoto, Wada, shareholders etc would have played a part in that decision.

Nomura did make All The Bravest though....when really he should spend that time on FFXV.

Nomura did make All The Bravest though....when really he should spend that time on FFXV.

Duh he's THE DIRECTOR it's his decision to continue the story of the game he made or not

And how do you know if Kitase or Hashimoto were abusing the dude to make sequels when literally only Toriyama's work X and XIII got sequels(Well the VII games and The After Years are sort of an exception but still).

Also,It's still Square's fault in general, instead of letting him handle one project at a time, they let him direct an entire series,a huge project, then they pull him out of those two to design characters for titles like the XIII games where he could've spent the time that got wasted on designing more characters for the XIII trilogy trying to finish XV and his other KH games in time instead

The dude is just one man that Square forced to multitasks multiple project

:Hey Wait Nomura san we want you to design this number of characters for XIII,quickly leave whatever you're working on

Toriyama:Hey Wait Nomura San my waifu needs some new outfits in Lightning Returns

Hey Nomura san,we want you to design characters for Dirge of Cerberus

Hey Nomura San we want you to make a rhythim game

Hey Nomura san we want you to finish 3 mobile games for our AppleiOS releases

Toriyama:Hey Nomura San,I want you to design outfits for my second waifu(Not-Aya Brea) in The 3rd Birthday spin-off of parasite eve

Yeah you can blame Nomura all you want. The fact stands that it's Toriyama and Square's fault in general.Instead of sticking him to his own series Kingdom Hearts and the FFXV project they kept juggling the dude around instead of making him focus on one project at a time.

the XIII trilogy and other spin off games are the reason we couldn't get XV any earlier.Designing characters and animating them takes time and resources y'know and instead of picking someone else to design them....nope it has to be Nomura

I think it's pretty much a sign that they need to stop relying on Nomura for so much. They need to bring in some fresh new talent or something. Like you said he's only one man.

I don't think Nomura sat at his desk for months developing All The Bravest. He's credited as a creative producer so he obviously had input in the game (if you can even call it such a thing) but he never directed it, he never wrote it, he never sung the theme tune for it, etc. In fact I doubt he spent much of his time even on it. XV is his main priority and I'm pretty sure most of his time is spent working on that as it's now suddenly Square Enix's main focus.

It shouldn't be forgotten that he's been working on the Kingdom Hearts series pretty much every year too and as it's his baby he obviously has a lot of involvement with it.

You don't even know if it was Toriyama who asked him, Kitase and Shinji knows Nomura a lot better after all. And as for Lightning Returns, Nomura only did the default outfit for Lightning and Snow, that's it. Nomura came up with the original concept for All The Bravest.

He chooses to work on these projects. Square Enix do have other character designers, like a freelancer for IX, XII's, XI's, XIV's etc.
