Mother 3 Outside Of Japan Possibility

Posted

This is pretty old but i figured id post it. im not into the earthbound games (but i plan on getting into it soon) (EDIT: I NOW LOVE THE SERIES!!!!) but something interesting came out of the E3 Digital Event. around the beginning, someone made a joke in the sorta claymation video. a guy in the audience said "COME ON, REGGIE! GIVE US MOTHER 3!!!!"

when i heard this i thought that they were hinting toward mother 3 appearing on the VC with an ENG patch for the non japan release. or maybe even a remake for the 3ds or wii u that would come out in all regions! it all makes sense to do it now becouse not a long ago earthbound (Mother 2) was released to the VC becouse of fans outcrying for it on miiverse and the internet! theres no denying the massive outcry for mother 3 to be rereased outside japan. not only that, but now there are GBA games on the VC! its the perfect scenario! its like nintendo kept hinting at it to build up the speculation. but after thinking for a while, it still sounded a bit farfetched. but the guy in the claymation also said "WHAT ABOUT STARFOX!?!?"  and reggie had almost the same response to that guy. and later on a new Starfox game for wii u was announced. but thats sorta a given but still, it means that something stated in that message came true. its hard not to draw parallel to the Mother 3 thing. im not gonna be all "EARTHOUND 2 / MOTHER 3 CONFIRMED FOR OUTSIDE REGIONS!" becouse its still farfetched, but it does give you something to think about. i think that there is a small possibility that it will happen. even if it wont, i still think it was absolutely hilarious! but i can see why the hardcore mother fanbase doesent.

when kotaku interviewed reggie about it this is what he said

Kotaku: You guys did make a joke about Star Fox in the [Nintendo digital event] and then Miyamoto showed up with a Star Fox game...
Fils-Aime: Don't go there!
Kotaku: So...
Fils-Aime: Don't go there!
Kotaku: You did make a joke about it. [laughs]
Fils-Aime: Where are my glasses? My beam-blocking glasses. Because I'm going to go into beam mode here.

just the fact that he's refusing to talk about it makes me feel like its coming! your thoughts?

That whole joke actually kinda hurt. It was a pretty big blow against us Mother fans. :/ Also, I suggest not getting your hopes up for anything relating to Mother outside of Japan. Nintendo doesn't really like to talk about it anymore. At least we've got the fanmade Mother 4 coming in a few months.

It's not that, it's because he's had people asking for it for years, and he's sick of hearing the franchise being mentioned. It's not hinting at anything. :

Well, maybe if they actually gave the fans what they wanted, then he wouldn't have to hear shit about the franchise. Just a thought. :P

if that is the case, it would still be a win win for nintendo if they did it! no more people asking him and more money for nintendo.

also, if he didnt want to hear the mother questions, then why did he agree to have it put in the digital event? he obviosly knew that this would happen. any person who knows anything about the mother series would.

I'm not defending him here. As much as I respect the man, his views on the Mother fanbase irritate me.

Honestly, Nintendo just doesn't see the market. It's just that the Mother fanbase is vocal, not necessarily large. It's got more of a fanbase, but Reggie doesn't think it's enough to put in the effort to get Mother 3 in the States, and I'd assume it's the same in other countries as well.

maybe contact the people who did the ENG patch for the rom and buy the patch then license it? almost no work. im sure that the people who made the patch would be happy to sell it to them. or maybe that will make people think that they support piracy. :/

They sent Nintendo the translation for free a year ago. If Nintendo was going to use those, we would have heard about it by now.

also, the fact that GBA games are now on the VC has to mean something! if i remember, it happened around the same time earthbound for the VC happened! again, its the perfect scenario for Nintendo!
