Posted May 11, 201411 yr Pokémon Gold and Silver sold a very impressive 23.10 million copies worldwide. They were also my first Pokémon games.
May 11, 201411 yr Wow, impressive sales numbers! By the way, is this topic only for the original versions, or can we talk about the HeartGold and SoulSilver remakes as well?
May 11, 201411 yr Author Wow, impressive sales numbers! By the way, is this topic only for the original versions, or can we talk about the HeartGold and SoulSilver remakes as well? Yep, second highest in the series. Yeah, this is for the original versions. I'll post one for the remakes later. Update: General discussion for the remakes is here.
May 11, 201411 yr Otherwise known as my favorite games in the series, with Silver being my third favorite game of all time.
May 11, 201411 yr Author Otherwise known as my favorite games in the series, with Silver being my third favorite game of all time. They're pretty amazing.
May 11, 201411 yr Pokémon Crystal sold a nice 6.39 million copies worldwide. That's literally all you have to say about the game? What about that it added a girl playable character, or added plot elements?
May 11, 201411 yr Author That's literally all you have to say about the game? What about that it added a girl playable character, or added plot elements? I'm afraid I never played it. I only played Gold and Silver.
May 11, 201411 yr Author Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver sold 11.63 million copies worldwide. They're remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver. They're the highest selling remakes in the series thus far. They're also pretty amazing.
May 11, 201411 yr Hands down these remakes are my favourite Pokemon games... that is if I don't hold onto the nostalgia of my first Pokemon game (Ruby). Both Johto and Kanto looked amazing on the DS and some neat features they included such as having any of the 493 Pokemon at the time follow you and being able to switch the audio from the new soundtrack to the old sounds from the Gameboy versions were all pretty amazing. There is a reason why Gold & Silver are arguably the best Pokemon games to date and I think these remakes further justified it.
May 11, 201411 yr Sadly I was late to the party with Gen II. All my friends played it though cause they had GameBoy's so I kinda knew what I was missing out on. When I finally did get a copy of Gold not long before the remakes came out, I was blown away. The games were outstanding! I even loved going to Kanto and getting a further 8 more badges to make my adventure even longer. The one thing I never get though is when people say that the original Pokemon games were the best and everything else that followed wasn't. Gold/Silver/Crystal definitely fall into original territory and are direct sequels (story wise) to their predecessors. There's no pleasing genwunners sometimes. Any ways, definitely of my favourite Pokemon games and they might not have sold more than Red/Blue (I don't think any Pokemon game will at this point) but those are some pretty great numbers fuelled by Pokemon's immense popularity at the time

May 11, 201411 yr One of the best gens, the starters were great and most of the other Pokémon too, I also really liked going to Kanto again and the battle against Red on Mount Silver.
