Stage one: The Death Cards

 

The bedding below you is soft and silky, almost feather-like in texture. Drifting half between sleep and being awake, you slowly start becoming more and more conscious of your surroundings and awaken. You are now in a room with silver-lined walls. A small green electric light glowing in the middle of each wall, the room is bare: Only a white table and chair with a flower and a letter are on it, and there is no determinable door or exit, the lights from above meaning that there was a ceiling, so even if one wished to try and exit via climbing out, they could not. The only thing you could do is read the letter, but now you notice, an odd, circular device with a Duel Monster's deck inside it mounted to your non-dominant hand's arm. You can investigate the circular device, or read the letter.

Haru started walking up slowly, feeling an uncomfortable air. Soon realizing he wasn't where he thought he was, he got up with a jolt. "Huh!? Where am I!?" He examined the room around him, soon noticing both the device on his arm and the letter on the table. Looking at the device, he sort of recognized it. If he remembered correctly, this is a Duel Disk. He's seen them all the time, buried with corpses that his parents dealt with. Not really bothering with the deck either, he made his way over to the letter, still wondering why he was here. But for now, he had little to anything for himself to examine. He picked up the letter, and opened it up...

Kaito checked the Disc. His friend as 'basic'... but what was more important was.. how in the hell did he get here? He reached for the note... maybe this would help?

Snoring, Kaden was enjoying his sleep.  But he felt the urge to wake up, so he did.  Yawning, he gazes at his surroundings.  He was confused to be in an unfamiliar room.  He sees a table with something on it.  Before he goes to it, he felt something on his left arm and looks at it.  His eyes were wide open to see some kind of device on it.  Staring at it, he thinks:  Wait.  This is a Duel Disk.  Sweet!  I always wanted another one after some jerks went and took my first.  And there looks like a deck is already in it.  I wonder what for?

I woke up, Surrounded by darkness. I was used to it, after my friend and I went on our seperate ways. Suddenly, a light appeared in the darkness. It embraced my non-dominate arm. It transformed into a custom duel disk. the color is gray with white and black. The shape looks like a Keyblade. My Keyblade.

"Is this a new function." I asked myself. I examined it. I noticed it had no cards with it. Suddenly, A card appeared in the darkness, I grabbed hold of it. As I held it, it showed his appearence. It turned out to be a blank card. Then, a voice spoke.

"Put it in the duel disk." I questioned the voice, but I did as instructed. As I did, Light began to shine. I thought to myself. "I must be heading to my next location." With that, let's see where this light takes me.

 

(I'll leave it to the rest of you, if you want to duel. For this RP, I guess. Also...we can work on the location. Also, I'm writing a fan fiction story, so, I really don't know if I can make it cannon with this rp. Anyway, let's see where this take us).

Basically(to the story the person wrote), I woke up, saw room, found a custom disk is on a table with a note, I pick up disk, card appears, Hears voice, question it, and put blank card in disk, put disk on, pick up letter and read it.

(sorry for the first one, but if I need to change it in order to do this RP, let me know. Also, I chose to investigate both.)

Locke slowly began to open his eyes. He had always been a heavy sleeper under normal circumstances but it didnt feel normal. Then he noticed the room he was in wasnt his. He immediatly jumped out of the bed and reached for his boot only to find that his knife was gone. He then noticed the letter on the table and the device on his arm. His head began filling with thoughs of what was going on. He became panicked and unable to rationally think. Locke then started to see the room spinning around him and the wall began to close in. He was claustrophobic, and had a weak stomach. Currently, mind was deceiving him and in his panic his fears were mentally being realized. Then he vomited and soon after fell backwards onto the floor, unconsious for another hour.

For those who opened the letter: The page had nothing on it, not even so much as a slight sign that it had any contact with a human before, and as the letter was removed from its casing, a blank Duel Monsters card fell out. The page that was suppose to be the actual mail glowed for a moment upon the card landing on the floor. "Hello, Duelist." A voice, quiet and reserved-sounded started. "We have summoned you, as well as many others here for a tournament of Duelists. Your prize for winning: a single, rule-free wish, and to return home to your life. Your cost for failure and entry is but a small gamble: your life and soul. Those who loose this game will die and their souls sent to hell." The voice stated in a matter-of-fact tone. "On your arm is a special kind a duel disk. It tracks your whereabouts, actions, intentions, etcetera. It also tracks your life force, so do not worry about being beaten to death or killed. Violence against players is prohibited." The voice informed. " once you are ready to proceed into the main hall, pick up the card that has fallen on the floor." The glowing stopped.

Kaito stood in horror. This was impossible, right? This game could... Kill you?! He looked out into the hall. His knees buckled. If he steps out there... He was accepting the fact that he could die at any minute playing a card game that... He never played... At least, compared to others he hadn't...

 

He looked back. "Maybe I can just avoid battle..." He whispers to himself. "Better than dying here..." He walked down the corridor, picking up the card.

Finished with looking at the deck and duel disk, Kaden goes to the envelope on the table.  He picks it up and sees a card falling to the floor.  He then hears a voice giving an explanation.  Flabbergasted, he mumbles:  "Let me get this right here.  If I don't participate in this tournament, or lose in any duel in this children's card game, I'll die and go to heck?  That's crazy!  But, given where I'm at and limited options, I don't have a choice in the matter."  Kaden walks to the card, picks it up, and heads off to the main hall.

After the explanation that the letter has given, Haru was...scared, to say the least. "D-death!? Hell!?" Haru knew how painful Hell was. He didn't want to go there. He didn't want to participate in this...although, if he won, he could be able to get a wish...any wish. He even knew what he wanted to wish for. He was a bit hesitant, but he made up his mind. Bending down, he picked up the card.

Locke woke an hour later and slowly got up and looked around "it is real....great" he opened the letter on the table and then listened to it. "Any wish.....teh. One wish i dont need. But i will enjoy the challenge... I accept" he picked upbthe card and walked out of the room with determination. He put up his hood to hide his face and as he walked he checked the deck. Full of earth monsters.

Rave opened the letter and sighed. "I'm in this tournament with a bunch of newbies," Rave said holding the card in his hands. He was not in any mood to play games with these people. He'd crush their decks and win this tournament - So he thought.

Hikaru stared at the card that had fallen to the floor. Did he... He barely even recalled signing up for this thing. But it seemed interesting enough. He looked at the duel disk he had been given. This thing sure brought back memories. Duel Monster's used to be lame. But Hikaru always liked it. He pulled out the deck and quickly investigated it. It was his. Perfect. He complied to the voice's request, picking up the card that had fallen. "Alright!" He declared. "Take me to my enemy!"

The players were teleported to a large, open area, along with many others who were there. It seemed as though iit may be a while before anything would happen, other than interacting with others.

Kaito looked at the space. So many experienced duelists... He felt like the runt of the litter... He looked for anyone to talk to... "...hi..." He mutterd to one of the members.

Haru was teleported to the open space with the rest of the duelists. He didn't know how that happened, but after everything else, he'll let it slide. He was looking around, expecting something to happen when another duelist spoke to him.

Haru jumped at the unexpected voice. He turned to Kaito. "O-oh! Uh...hi." Haru clearly had no idea what to say. He wasn't even making eye contact with Kaito.

"Hmph... Social time..." Hikaru muttered.

He wandered off to the farthest corner of the room and leaned against it, waiting impatiently for the competition to begin.
