A Sequel To Battle Stadium D.O.N.?

Posted

First off, I feel going back to the old days of when I decided to color my text. Good times, right? :P

Anyways, animanga fan Firaga Sensei here. Er, speaking of that, I don't know if this is really a "video game" thread or an "anime/manga" thread per se, considering the topic... blegh, whatever, I can never get these things rights. We have mods, they'll do something if they need to.

Anyways, again, considering that J-Stars Victory VS is now in stores with people scrambling to either buy or import their copy as I'm speaking, and from what I've seen (not actually played X__X) it looks really fun. But you know, I personally think there could be ANOTHER cross-over animanga fighting game that could be just as fun.

See, back in 2006, Japan was treated to a game called "Battle Stadium D.O.N." released for the Gamecube and the Playstation 2. It was basically the first time that we were able to play a Shonen Jump oriented animanga cross over game since the Famicon days on a home console, and of course not counting Jump Super Stars or Jump Ultimate Stars on the Nintendo DS.

The game used the three series DragonBall, One Piece, and Naruto (hence the "D.O.N." in the game title). The game had a lot of characters, mostly DragonBall of course, a few stages, and a basic set up. Even more basic than the first Smash Brothers. It didn't really score that high as far as ratings went, and of course it was Japan exclusive. Despite all that, the game is relatively fun. I've never played myself of course (why do I feel like I'm losing my credibility X___X) but from what I've seen, it was decent enough. And it can DEFINITELY be improved on. That's where the sequel idea comes in.

So what if this game had a bigger, badder, and more fleshed out sequel? What if we got more characters from each of the three series, way more considering the longevity of both Naruto and One Piece as well as the new DragonBall properties that have come out lately (Battle of Gods? :D)? What if we had an actual story mode, where we got to see the characters from these three series co-exist with one another in a sort of Subspace Emissary type deal? What if the stages, the graphics, the gameplay, and even the music (OST from all three anime maybe) was greatly improved??? These are all the possibilities of a Battle Stadium D.O.N. 2, and as a fan of all three of these series, I would most certainly enjoy it. Heck, we could also add in a fourth series to this mix. After all, everybody been's DIEING for a game with DragonBall and the Big 3 (Naruto, One Piece, Bleach) in it since... forever. lol Or maybe another series could take over, or maybe even REPLACE one of the series in D.O.N.? Maybe a Big 3 exclusive game? Maybe Naruto gets booted and gets replaced with Toriko. Or Hell, we could see something crazy like DragonBall, Fist of the North Star, and Saint Seiya in one game. xD

Alright, so what do you peeps think? Any ideas? Any questions? Any comments? Leave them down below.

Considering that those were the only three anime that I knew well in J-Stars, I'd definitely play a crossover with just those three. xD
