Looking Back

Whelp I found this poem I wrote at some point in my senior year.....used it for a song project in music class as well owo

 

It's a bit on the long side.

 

Here it goes.

If I could ever go back,

To tell myself something,

I'd say watch out for your future,

And the troubles it will bring.

 

Cherish all the good times,

Be stalwart through the bad,

I hate to tell you this,

There will be weights on your back.

 

I wish I could tell you,

How your life will turn out,

It's not my place to say,

It's too much for you right now.

 

Don't cry when your parents yell,

Be happy for all your friends,

Follow every dream,

Always fight until the end.

 

Love with all your heart,

Until it's about to burst,

But be sure to hold it tightly,

For the times it will hurt.

 

Be sure to tell your mother,

Thanks for giving you her eyes,

Mention to dad you love him,

There's no need for you to cry.

 

As much as he annoys you,

Tell your brother goodbye,

Make all of the good choices,

Thanks for being in my life.

 

Once you've left the nest,

You'll feel all alone,

It's hard to look ahead,

When all you want is home.
