It is the second day at Beacon, you are on the cliffs with a bunch of strangers...or friends (decide amongst yourselves) and are about to start your very first trial: falling.  Crazy old Ozpin is telling everyone to have a landing strategy.  It is up to you to take the first step.  Begin!

Ozpin and Glynda's speech:

Everyone currently stood on the cliffs, standing on some kind of platform.  For some reason, each platform having the school's insignia.  Ozpin and Ms. Goodwitch were standing before them, it was kind of exciting and nerve racking all at the same time.  What were they going to tell the students.

"For years you have trained to become warriors," the gray haired man began, as he addressed all the students.  "Today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest.""Now," Glynda continued, "I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams.  Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion.  Each of you will be given teammates, today.""These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time, here at Beacon.  So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone whom you can work well.  That being said, first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

There were an abundant of reactions, ranging from both sides of the spectrum.  It would continue for the rest of the authority figures' speech.  Regardless, Ozpin continued."After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest.  You will meet opposition along the way.  Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die.  You will be monitored and graded for the duration of the initiation, but our instructors will not intervene.  You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics.  Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff.  You will guard that item, as well as your standing, and we will grade you appropriately.  Are there any questions?"

And with those last couple of words, one by one everyone prepared to be tossed into the air.  Whether anyone responded or not, did not matter.  Ozpin already had a set answer.

"Good.  Now, take your positions."For some reason, someone always had a question about the landing strategy and so the gray haired man answered accordingly.

"No, you will be falling,"

"Oh great, some guy is asking questions," Haru thought.  "What an idiot."

"No, you will be using your own landing strategy."

And with that, everyone was tossed into the air.  Haru, felt very natural in the air, holding his backpack as he flipped and twisted a couple times, somehow avoiding mysteriously placed crows. *cough* Monty *cough*  He decided to try and stay in the air for as long as possible, it seemed fun that way.  He spread his arms in the air, picking up a bountiful of air resistance."This is great!" the white haired boy yelled out, diverting some of the other first years' attention.

He looked around to see the possible competition, as well as teammates.

"Now which one of you are my future teammates?"

Vyona looked around at the other students present before she felt her body jerk upward. As she was launched into the sky by the platform beneath her, Vyona kept a strong hold on her staff as the wind hit against her face and hair. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes. She was far above a forest and she felt herself begin to fall hard to the ground. She waited a few moments, taking in the situation before she whipped out her staff and form a magic circle under her in midair. She firmly landed on it before hopping off and falling down further. She made more along the way, like stairs down. Once she was close enough to the ground, Vyona landed firmly on the grass and looked around her new surroundings. (geez, so much for a warning) She though and walked off further into the forest. She didn't want to wait up on anybody, feeling that they just might hold her back.

A team? That sounds like a lot of work.

Alvis looked down both sides of the row of students. Interacting with people was very taxing. He sighed. Guess I'll have to deal with it. Let's just hope that my partner isn't too spontaneous.

Alvis started to think about what to do as Ozpin gave his speech. Suddenly, the student on the far left was launched into the air. You've got to be kidding me. That's how he's sending us into the forest?! Has Ozpin grown senile?

Alvis looked down into the forest below, trying to calculate how high and how far he would end up going. Then the person next to him was sent flying. Alvis was actually starting to feel...anxious? He wasn't sure. He took a stance; he wasn't sure why, except that he felt that it was appropriate.

Then he was flying.

Alvis looked around to see his fellow students all around him. One fellow shouted, "This is great!"

Heh, looks like somebody's unusually enthusiastic about this.

But soon his ascent ended, and he felt the force of gravity pulling him back down to terra firma. As he had calculated, he was approaching a particularly large tree.

He pulled out two rings, put them on, and bumped them together. They immediately transformed into two metallic red gauntlets. He thrust his hands toward the ground and shot out two jets of flame. He could feel the thrust counteracting gravity, slowing his descent to a much safer velocity. By the time he reached the tree he was practically floating. He stopped the streams of fire and lightly dropped onto a treebranch below.

As Alvis made his way down to the ground, hopping from tree branch to tree branch, he checked the Dust levels in his gauntlets. Tch, I used up a bit more than what I would have liked to. Oh well, I have extra cartridges.

He landed on the ground and dusted himself off. "Now... who will I have the pleasure of teaming up with?" he said sarcastically as he walked deeper into the forest.

(Heads up guys, I'll be controlling the creatures of grimm and most antagonistic characters, as well as the teachers.  If I'm not available, I may ask Xiro to mod for me, but that will be how the format works.  Um, nothing else for now.  Partners will be decided among you guys, but check with me on teams, 'cause I might say these pieces are already missing, etc.)

Haru reached into his pockets and pulled out a very stylish pair of shades.  The boy put them on.

"If I don't make eye contact with anyone, I don't need to find a partner until later," he thought.

Haru was probably one of the last ones to land, as he slowed his descent incredibly with his strong knowledge of the air.  He pulled the staff off of the side of his belt and used it to activate his unique powers, Reflection.  With it, he could reflect the impact damage to the ground itself, thus reducing his to zero.  And that's just what he did, leaving quite a huge crater.  After landing, he immediately started running, making sure to look down on the floor and nowhere else.

As Vyona rushed through the forest, a pack of Beowulfs had appeared, almost surrounding her completely.  Only an opening to the right was left.  The sound of the Beowulfs could be heard all throughout the forest, they were pretty noisy.

---------------------------------------------------------

Whether Alvis heard the Beowulfs or not did not matter, as a large bird-like creature of grimm began to send shocks of gust throughout the trees around him.

Edited by Jaune Arc

Vyona stopped dead in her tracks as all the pack of beowulfs appeared. (I guess this wasn't going to be a walk in the park then.) She thought as the core of her staff started to glow. (Bring it.) Some of the beowulfs started to rush as her and she waved her staff with a flick of thee wrist. A circle of flames appeared around her, burning the surrounding beowulfs that made it closest to her. Vyona formed a magic circle under her and leaped high into the sky before twirling her staff, changing it into a spear, and throwing it into the head of a beowulf. She landed on top of the same beowulf and ripped the spear out from its body. Vyona's weapon changed back into a staff and she gave it another wave, spikes of ice appeared around her and she launched it towards more of the Beowulfs. She was about to launch more before she was suddenly hit from behind by one of the beowulfs. She stuttered forward before regaining her balance an looking over, just now noticing an exit. Vyona stared at it for a moment before shaking her head and readying her staff for another attack from the beowulfs.

"That sounds like fun!" Aria laughed cheerfully as she felt the platform underneath her launch upward. The first thing that crossed her head was, 'Wow so this is how it feels when you're flying.' Sadly, what comes up must come down thanks to gravity. Aria felt her heart sink into her stomach like a roller coaster going down on the first hill. Except this ride doesn't have any tracks or seat belts. Feeling the wind screaming in her ear, the trees grew closer and closer. Smiling ear to ear she spotted a nearby lake. Aria commanded the water from the lake to rise up, so high it can seen above the trees. Landing perfectly into the risen water's grasp, she slid down into the lake like a water slide landing with a big splash. A couple seconds later, she crawled out of the lake completely dry.

Sora was nervous, but once she was airborne...she let out a girly scream that pierced the air.

But of course, her Signal training kicked in. She turned Angel's Light on full auto and opened fire, slowing her descent until she used her scythe to swing onto a branch.

Hopping down carefully, she stowed her weapon away and started making her way to what she was sure was the forest temple.

Her Faunus ears perked a bit as she went, listening. Beowolfs.

She took out her weapon and extended it into SHADOW mode. Grimm weren't people. Didn't have to worry.

Whether Alvis heard the Beowulfs or not did not matter, as a large bird-like creature of grimm began to send shocks of gust throughout the trees around him.

Alvis was knocked back by the force of the gale.

"Woah!.... Hello there," he said as he looked up at the bird Grimm.

Hmm.... If I can get on its back, I'll be able to get a better view of the forest. I could probably see the temple too.

He jumped into the air and shot pillars of flame from his hands to propel himself upward. The going was a tad difficult due to the violent winds, so Alvis had to go from one branch to another until he reached the treetops. He then rocketed up behind the bird Grimm and landed on its back as lightly as you could.

"Don't mind me. Just taking a little ride." He looked around at the forest below and saw a small clearing ahead in the distance. Could that be the place? Only one way to find out.

Just as Aria exited the lake, creatures of grimm resembling sharks with legs fell from the sky, clearly evicted by her movement of the water.  They began to bark at her, running towards the faunus.

-----------------------------------------------

Vyona was dealing the pack of Beowulfs quite the damage, but would it last?  The remaining Beowulfs began to howl as a large bear like creature came out of the forest, an Ursa.

-----------------------------------------------

Following the howls of the Beowulfs were the appearance of a cute creature of grimm, right before Sora.  If everyone could see it, they would agree that this monster wasn't a monster at all, but what looked like to be a harmless little pet.  The creature let out a very tiny growl as it cowered, moving backwards, away from Sora.  What would she do?

----------------------------------------------------

Alvis was indeed smart to latch onto the flying creature....or was he?  The bird began to jolt violently around the forest, causing more unneeded changes to the environment and weather alike.  It began to fly in a a cylindrical upward motion.  Soon enough, a tornado was created, a small one for a twister, but still fairly large.  Did Alvis stay on the creature?  What was he to do?----------------------------------------------------

Arriving nearly last, Haru was definitely going to get his partner at the same pace.  He was okay with it, but hopefully it was someone reliable.  Breaking his concentration of staring at the ground, while heading to the temple, was a variety of different things.  First was a large rise of water from the north, clearly from a large body of water.  Next was the howls of Beowulfs and then large gusts coming from the east.  He was befuddled."So this is what Ozpin meant," he said, looking around.

Not too long after were more howls from an even larger, deeper voice and what- a tornado? -coming from the same direction as the gusts?  What was going on?

Edited by Jaune Arc

Sora looked at the cute thing. Lowering her weapon...she folded it up and put it away.

"Hello there." She said softly, sinking onto her knees. "There's no need to be afraid."

Of course, one usually is not afraid of a cute maid girl. Normally.

Sora smiled ever so gently. "It's ok."

"Woah!" Alvis could barely hold on to the bird as it flew about. "Guess you don't like company..."

The bird flew upward in a spiral, forming a small twister. Alvis couldn't believe it. You have GOT to be kidding me.

The bird continued to wildly fly about, the flapping of its wings creating winds that uprooted trees. The weather wasn't so good up above, either. Alvis was buffeted by winds and feathers alike. It was so bad that he actually considered jumping off for a second.

No... I'm afraid I'll have to take this guy out. He looked down and gulped. Man, we're really high up...

He took a pair of red Dust cartridges out of his pocket and put them in two slots in his gauntlets. He was going to need them in order to survive.

"Hey, birdie! How do you like your chicken? I make it medium rare!"

He put his hands together and shot a beam of fire at the monster's head. His first round of Dust quickly diminished.

Alvis stopped before he used up more Dust than he needed to. The bird's head was cloaked in smoke. Did it work?

The smoke cleared and....

(Nope, that's the boss birdie from RWBY Ep 8 yo.)The bird seemed, for the most part, unharmed.  It continued to fidget around the air, eventually tossing the tornado towards the west, where Haru had just arrived.  Angered by the barrage of attacks, the bird began to fly towards the temple.

------------------------------------------------------------

(I literally flipped a coin to decide what would happen xP)Sora was right to put her weapon away.  The creature of grimm did nothing to threaten her existence.  Usually, a parental figure would have taken this opportunity to devour the unguarded pray, but thankfully there were none to be found.  The small creature growled again as it slowly disappeared towards the north of the forest, where the lake- or what was a lake -was.

Vyona flipped backward and stood her round, ready to attack again just when the remaining beowulfs stopped attacking her and started to howl in sync. Vyona looked confused and gripped her staff just as an Ursa emerged from the forest. She raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Oh? A stronger one? About time, these beowulfs were starting to bore me." She relaxed her grip on her staff and started speaking more casually, as if the beast actually understood a word she was saying. "But you know, I have a mission to accomplish and you're wasting my t-" She was suddenly cut off when the Ursa rushed at her with its claws ready to sink into her flesh. As by reflex, Vyona managed to block with her staff, the weight of the beast weighing hard against her. Vyona smirked and fire blasted against the beast, knocking it backwards. The ursa let out a shrieking cry in pain. "Now now. No need to be so rude. I'll deal with you quickly if that makes you feel better." The ursa was recovering from the blow but Vyona didn't bother to wait and rushed at the beast. Her staff switched into a spear again and she gave a few slashes at it before stepping back. for the next few minutes, Vyona kept dealing more damage on the beast, but also gaining fatigue slowly. Vyona slammed her staff into the ground and spikes of rock spiked out of the ground and into the ursa and the other beowulfs. Vyona took a deep breath before slipping her staff into its holder and waking through the exit she saw earlier. (that damn temple better be near by so I can be done with this mission already.)

(Worth a shot xP)

Well, that didn't work. Alvis thought, disappointed. Either it's too strong or I'm too weak...

He then noticed the bird heading towards the temple. Huh, maybe this can work out after all. Alvis continued to hold on for dear life.

Meanwhile... at the cliffs...

"Looks like no one has yet to make a partner," Glynda said, looking at her screen.

"The students this year seem to express individuality," Ozpin added, sipping his coffee.

"Perhaps too much individuality.  These teenagers may be too troubled.  Are you sure they are ready for this kind of combat?" she questioned the headmaster."They say those with the most drive, are those with the most trouble pasts."

-------------------------------------

The Ursa was the last threat to Vyona.  The creatures of grimm could clearly pick up the level of difference between them.  She was free to do what she wanted.

-------------------------------------

Haru casually strolled through the forest, heading towards the temple.  It was north right?  Whatever, he'd find it, but before that...the loose tornado would find him."What the?" he uttered, looking up.  "This is getting ridiculous!"

Yuki landed with a loud thud, she slowly sat up holding her head.

"That did not go as planned." she said, standing up.

Yuki dust herself off, wielding her Nekomata...and into the forest she went. Her task was simple. Go find the relic and get to the top of the cliff.

  • Author

Yuki seemed to arrive after Haru, which was surprising indeed.  She was met with opposition as a large lion-like creature of grimm appeared in front of her, clearly hostile and quite dangerous.

-----------

Haru continued to run away....from the large twister.  There was no way he was going to outrun that thing.  What was he going to do?

Edited by Jaune Arc

Yuki slowed down and stopped herself rather close to the Lion creature.

"Oh...H-Hi....sorry about this..." she muttered, quickly running the opposite way.

After she was a good distance, she aimed her rocket launcher towards the direction, and fired. Her cat ears fold before the loud boom echoed through the area though. Yuki changed the weapon back into its rifle form.

"Please hit it...please hit it..." she muttered, scurrying up a tree.

Vyona continued to stroll through the forest, pushing through bushes as she went. She grumbled as she dusted the leaves off of her clothes. "This is getting ridiculous. Where is that temple?!" she muttered to herself before creating a magic circle underneath her and rocketing into a branch on a tall tree before her. Vyona smiled, relieved that  she saw some sort of structure there, having to be the temple. She felt the breeze blow a bit harder and looked in the opposite direction to see a mini tornado in the forest. She narrowed her eyebrows and took out her staff. (That must be one of those students but I can't tell who. Oh well, I want to get this mission done. Don't need to bother with them) Vyona leaped off of the branch and another magic circle appeared under her, pushing her higher into the air before another one appeared and started speeding her towards the temple. Another one would appear when she slowed down in the air, bringing her closer to her goal.

Haien felt himself propelled by the pad, momentarily weightless before gravity figured out what it was doing and began to bring him right down. Usually Haien was the one to make the quick joke; some perverted reference to his momentary free-fall. Oddly, he did not. The Faunus crashed into the ground, one palm meeting the floor as he landed in a kneeling position.

"Right!" He chirped, standing up straight, "Let's go kick some ass." Smirking as he took out his weapon -an oddly shaped broadsword- and began to swing it around, "Or...uh...find someone! Right."

Haru had no idea where he was running any longer, like it mattered.  The tornado had caught up.  It flung him towards Yuki's direction, but before that, did the rocket shot hit?  It did.  The lion-like creature of grimm also flew towards Haru, they were going to collide any moment.  Haru decided to use his staff to reflect both him and the creature away from each other, but it was tricky.  He had to do it right before contact or else the feline would burst into many pieces with a lot of unneeded mess.  Luckily, the interaction went without a hitch, blasting it back and him towards the tornado.  He flew in, losing half-consciousness as he began to fly towards the temple.  The creature of grimm propelled back towards Yuki, quite fast.

------------------------------------

Haien also arrived quite late.  Everyone was still by their own, but not for long.  Yuki was just north of Haien and with the random beast being flung towards their direction, they'd have to work together.  The lion-like creature of grimm growled as it momentarily flew in the air.

(You flipped a coin...why am I unsurprised.)

Sora stood and followed.

"Hey...where are you going?" She called. "I'm not going to hurt you!"

She frowned, hurrying up. Why was it running?

(Not sure what will happen next to Sora and Aria since The Basic Nerd hasn't replied yet.  It's your choice.  There are a bunch of shark-like creatures of grimm with legs in the direction Sora is being led to recap.)

Vyona was breezing through the sky when she heard the wind whistling from behind her again. She looked back to see the tornado coming in her direction. She noticed a body in there and frowned. Vyona waved her staff again and she was pushed faster through the air, trying to avoid being sucked in. She lost her footing while trying to make another magic circle and felt the tornado right behind her now. She cursed under breath before feeling her body caught in the vortex. She could barely keep her eyes open with all of the dust and leaves blowing into her face. "Ack.." she muttered before barely waving her staff and ice appeared around her. They got caught in the tornado and within a few seconds, the tornado burst into snowflakes. Vyona opened her eyes and looked down to see that she was high above the forest, and started plummeting downward. She hit a few branches before falling on her back. She groaned as she rolled onto her side and looked up to see the person was making his way down as well. She shakingly stood up and walking over to lean on a tree to compose herself. The temple was at walking distance now but Vyona's body was aching from the fall.

(If you guys don't tell me your preferences, you might end up with random peeps.  So yeah!  Speak up.)

Thanks to the random girl, the white haired boy was saved from the body of wind.  Haru fell once again, this time, a little more tired and a little less prepared.

"I wonder if my aura can take that kind of impact?" he asked himself out loud.

He reached for his staff on his belt once again, but it was nowhere to be found.

"What!?!"

He panicked for a bit and remembered he could use his semblance without it, but still...that was going to be a hindrance.  Without Heavenly Wish, he would have a handicap, a huge one.  He did the same on impact, making another large crater.  What were these students doing to the Emerald Forest?  After straightening himself up, he felt a jolt of pain from his left hand, the one that softened the blow."Tch, this is a problem," he coughed, grabbing his left arm.  "Let's hope I can make it out alive."

------------------------------------------

The large bird continued to fly.  Soon it would pass the temple and Alvis would have missed his chance.

"Ha ha, are those humans dressed up in a costume?" Aria laughed. She took out her katana calmly as the blade was coated in water. Big mistake fighting a faunus with water abilities next to a water source. She inserted her blade into the water and concentrated. Suddenly a huge wave rose up in the lake as it crashed down into the sharks, creating a flood as the huge wave spread in the forest engulfing almost everything in it's path including Aria.
